    Thriving mother, great amenities, inconsistent

My mother is happy and thriving in a roomy, recently renovated apartment with a balcony - restaurant-quality meals, abundant activities, friendly residents, and mostly caring, competent nurses and aides. Leadership was accessible, move-in support was excellent, and amenities (pool, salon, gym, transportation, in-unit kitchen/washer-dryer, weekly cleaning) exceeded our expectations. Experiences vary: some families report rude or unresponsive staff, understaffing, maintenance and billing problems, and occasional serious lapses in care, so consistency can be an issue. I highly recommend touring, having a meal, and asking specific questions about nursing coverage, emergency response and billing before committing.

The place is wheelchair accessible, has homecare on-site and hospice care available, and short-term or respite stays, adult day care, and rehabilitation programs like outpatient therapy are also provided, and FOX Rehabilitation is a partner in care. Housekeeping comes standard to keep everything clean, and the team helps with laundry and other chores. There's a grand piano in the lobby, a well-stocked library, community computers, a cocktail lounge, activity studio, community gardens, an activity program as part of the Five Star Lifestyle, and plenty of seating for reading or spending time with visitors. Smoking isn't allowed inside anywhere, and the community has emergency power generators for storms.
