    Warm, clean, engaging senior living

I'm so glad we waited - the move-in and orientation were smooth, ambassadors helped my mom settle, and the staff are warm, attentive, and truly go above and beyond. The apartment is a perfect size, very clean, and the ocean/intercoastal views, pool and hotel-like lobby are gorgeous. Weekly housekeeping, on-site PT, reliable rides to doctors, and a full activities calendar (yoga, piano nights, arts & crafts, outings) keep residents engaged - my mom adores living here. Meals are delicious and the dining room is spectacular, though service/menu hiccups have occurred. Overall it feels safe, homey and well-run; I would definitely recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The collective reviews portray Five Star Premier Residences of Pompano Beach as a well-regarded, resort-like senior living community with overwhelmingly positive feedback about the staff, atmosphere, amenities, and location. The dominant theme is that staff and leadership are compassionate, attentive, and go above and beyond to make residents feel welcome and cared for; multiple reviewers single out individual staff and leaders by name for praise. The property’s seaside location, ocean and Intracoastal views, pool, and hotel-like common areas contribute strongly to the community’s appeal and to residents’ general satisfaction.

Care quality and staff: Reviews consistently emphasize high-quality caregiving and customer service. Many commenters describe staff as warm, family-like, patient, and attentive — from the executive director and Resident Care Coordinator to drivers, concierge, and dining servers. Several accounts note staff longevity and consistency, which supports stable care and familiarity with residents. Specific positive actions reported include personalized greetings, transportation assistance, medication reminders, helpful check-ins, quick maintenance responses, and hands-on support during acclimation. On-site rehabilitation and physical therapy are repeatedly praised for restoring independence and supporting recovery.

Facilities and location: The campus is repeatedly described as clean, well maintained, and attractively decorated, giving a cruise-ship or upscale resort feel. Amenities commonly called out include an ocean-view dining room, pool suitable for water aerobics, gym/fitness rooms, library, media/entertainment rooms, and an on-site PT center. Location between the ocean and intracoastal waterway is a major draw; reviewers value direct beach access, scenic balconies, and proximity to shopping and nature trails. The building’s high occupancy and waitlist status suggest strong demand. Notable facility-related negatives include reports of specific rooms being dirty or underutilized (for example, a top-floor dining room apparently unused in some accounts) and occasional complaints about smaller studio unit sizes.

Activities and social life: The community offers a robust activities calendar with frequent live entertainment (piano, singers, evening shows), fitness options (yoga, in-chair/yoga, seated rubber-band exercises), bingo, arts and crafts, speaker talks, cocktail hours, and organized outings. Many reviewers say their family members are busy, socially connected, and very happy with the level and variety of engagement. A few residents wanted more proactive support to encourage participation, but the overall picture is that programming is abundant and varied.

Dining experience: Dining is the single most mixed area in the reviews. Numerous residents praise the food — describing it as delicious with strong seafood offerings, good variety, attractive presentation, and a generally enjoyable dining environment. However, a recurring cluster of complaints centers on a dining management change (noted as a failed 10+ month Compass experiment by some reviewers) that led to slow service, long waits, cold or unavailable dishes, order errors, and occasional staff brusqueness. Several reviews state the dining experience has been improving after the transition, but the issue remains a clear negative trend for some residents. Some reviews also mention catering limitations, weekend service variability, and that restaurant staff are not as forthcoming as other departments.

Management and operations: Leadership and many department heads receive praise for effective problem-solving, empathy, and active involvement in resident life. That said, there are isolated reports of pushy sales tactics during leasing, inadequate orientation or welcome experiences for some new residents, and occasional communication issues (for example, a mailing-list unsubscribe problem). Staffing shortages in some periods have been linked to slower service and strained dining performance. Many reviewers, however, single out the executive director and particular staff (several by name) for their responsiveness and supportive presence.

Safety, transportation, and logistics: Transportation to medical appointments and shopping is frequently lauded, with drivers described as conscientious and patient. Security features, safe walking areas, and an attentive concierge are other positive logistical notes. A few reviewers flagged limited weekend transportation and noted the high-rise oceanfront location raises valid hurricane evacuation concerns for frail or less-mobile residents.

Costs, availability, and policies: The community is described as competitive and in some cases more affordable than reviewers’ prior arrangements, but several comments describe it as expensive or pricier than alternatives. The campus is mostly rental (not ownership) and a few practical policy notes emerged in reviews: some units do not have balconies or ocean views, VA benefits are reportedly not accepted, and there can be a waiting list for preferred apartments.

Patterns and final assessment: The majority of feedback is strongly positive, centering on the human side of care — staff warmth, responsiveness, and a welcoming culture — combined with appealing facilities and a wide range of activities. The most frequent and significant complaint cluster concerns dining operations and service consistency after a management change; cleanliness and staffing in particular areas were also recurring but less widespread issues. A minority of reviews mention pushy sales behavior or isolated negative staff interactions, but these are outweighed by many more reports of excellent experiences. Prospective residents should weigh the strong staff culture, amenities, social programming, and scenic location against intermittent dining service problems, potential orientation inconsistencies, and evacuation considerations for beachfront living. Overall, reviewers commonly recommend Five Star Premier Residences of Pompano Beach and describe it as a caring, active community where many residents and family members feel comfortable and well supported.

About Five Star Premier Residences of Pompano Beach

Five Star Premier Residences of Pompano Beach is a large senior living community along Florida's Atlantic coast, with high-rise buildings and wide views of the ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, and nearby canals filled with passing yachts. The place promotes a continuum of care, so seniors can move from independent living to assisted living, memory care, or nursing care, if they need more help over time. Apartments have walk-in closets, kitchens or kitchenettes, private balconies, and range in size from studios to one- and two-bedroom layouts, most between 385 and 655 square feet, with some having both living and dining rooms combined, and almost every space featuring views of palm trees, grassy areas, or the water. The facility allows pets, but with some restrictions on the size of dogs.

Residents get independent and assisted living apartments that stay private, and the community encourages people to make friends, enjoy shared meals, or join daily activities. Staff members stay friendly and focus on each resident's personal needs, offering help with daily tasks like bathing, getting dressed, and making sure medicines are given on time. There's a team of caregivers available 24/7, and nursing staff come in part-time. The place provides on-site care for seniors who need extra help, and there's a dedicated memory care program meant for those with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia.

Five Star Premier Residences of Pompano Beach has a lot of services, including dining prepared by an Executive Chef with over eight entree options every night, beauty and salon services, housekeeping, laundry, transportation to local shopping areas, and scheduled outings like field trips and cultural events. The site has indoor and outdoor pools, with water aerobics and a heated pool, and there are also bar and cocktail lounges, a restaurant-style dining room, and communal and private dining spaces. WiFi and cable TV come with the apartments, and residents have access to a computer room, a game room, a library, and an art studio. There are fitness facilities with group classes such as Tai Chi, a fitness center with treadmills and other equipment, and regular wellness workshops. Therapies like outpatient rehab, physical therapy, and occupational therapy are available from FOX Rehabilitation.

The grounds give people places to relax outdoors, including a community garden, a gazebo by a pond, shaded walking paths, and even ocean access boat slips in the backyard. Covered and gated parking are available, and the community has both an indoor and outdoor heated pool, a chapel, a dog park, a boutique shop, and a park area with mature palm trees. Seniors can attend in-house religious services or see an in-house doctor without leaving campus.

Dining plans called the Five Star Culinary and MyChoice Dining Program let residents enjoy multiple included meals each day, including dietary options for low salt or kidney health. Each night, the community hosts happy hour with live entertainment most evenings, plus movie nights, afternoon games, book reviews, and clubs. Volunteer opportunities, community enrichment activities, and group trips help residents connect and stay active. People also have access to home care services if they need non-medical help while continuing to live on their own.

The facility is state licensed, with its most recent review showing it meets state standards. Apartments start at $3,200 for independent living and $3,900 for assisted living, with maintenance, housekeeping, and utilities included. The environment aims to be convenient, welcoming, and stress-free, focusing on quality caregiving, wellness, comfort, and a chance for seniors to age in place while enjoying the beachside setting.
