    Friendly staff, clean pet-friendly community

My mom moved in and we're very pleased. Friendly, attentive staff and responsive management keep a clean, well-maintained, pet-friendly community with in-unit kitchens, fresh paint/new flooring, a pool/spa, and lots of activities, plus easy walking access to Claremont Village shops and restaurants. Maintenance is quick and overall I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Claremont Villas presents as an independent-living community with a mix of clear strengths and operational variability. Many reviewers highlight the location and physical amenities: a gated campus with elevators, air-conditioned in-unit kitchens, private patios, and an outdoor pool and spa. Units are frequently described as clean and sometimes recently refreshed with new paint, carpet, or flooring. The community’s proximity to the scenic Claremont Village and nearby shops and restaurants is a consistent selling point for prospective residents who value walkability.

Staff and daily living: Staffing impressions are generally positive. Numerous accounts describe staff as professional, friendly, and attentive; families have noted shorter-than-expected admissions and helpful front-line employees. The community model emphasizes self-catering — units are equipped for independent meal preparation and commonly include refrigerators and ample kitchen amenities. For those seeking a more independent lifestyle, the availability of in-unit kitchens and organized outings (bingo, market trips, and other activities) supports resident engagement and autonomy.

Activities and social life: The property offers a range of social activities and organized trips that reviewers found appealing. Bingo and market outings were mentioned specifically, and reviewers described a lively atmosphere with varied programming. The pet-friendly policy and communal spaces such as the pool, spa, and patios contribute to opportunities for social interaction.

Facilities and physical plant: While many units and common areas are described as clean and well-managed, there is a notable pattern of inconsistent physical-plant performance. Several reviewers described prompt, effective maintenance and recent unit updates; others reported longer-term issues with building upkeep. The facility includes older building stock and smaller unit footprints in parts of the community, which may be a consideration for those who need larger living spaces or newer construction finishes.

Management and maintenance concerns: A recurring operational concern is uneven maintenance responsiveness. Multiple comments point to delayed repairs — particularly HVAC/heating repairs — and gaps in certain safety or accessibility features (for example, missing safety rails). There are also mentions that residents have been expected to cover some repair costs, indicating unclear or inconsistent maintenance billing practices. Taken together, these items suggest variability in management follow-through and quality-control processes: some residents experience timely repairs and responsive management, while others report protracted service times and unresolved facility issues.

Overall impression and patterns to consider: The dominant pattern is mixed but leaning positive for independent-living prospects who prioritize location, in-unit independence, and a friendly staff. The property offers appealing amenities and an active social program. However, prospective residents and families should weigh the potential for inconsistent maintenance responsiveness, check unit condition carefully at touring, clarify maintenance and billing policies in writing, and verify safety and accessibility features for specific apartments. A visit focused on unit condition, recent maintenance records, and clear written agreements about repair responsibilities will help assess whether Claremont Villas matches an individual’s needs and expectations.

    About Claremont Villas

Claremont Villas sits at 100 South Indian Hill Boulevard in Claremont, California, and has been around since 1997, so it's had some time to serve seniors in the Oakmont neighborhood. This community has 153 senior apartment units, each with one bedroom and one bathroom and about 472 square feet of space, and many of the apartments have bathtubs for easy access. The living is pet-friendly, so residents may bring cats and dogs, and there's assigned parking available along with on-site laundry for convenience. Folks can expect both indoor and outdoor gathering areas, a community room, a swimming pool, and a spa, and for those who like to get out and about, transportation is available. There are programs for the arts, including different art mediums and performing arts, as well as life skills and computer classes, so there's always something going on for folks wanting to stay busy or learn.

This is mainly a senior independent living community, and residents can get help with tasks like bathing, dressing, and medication management if they need it, but it's set up to help people keep their independence as long as possible. Staff can help with daily care, and there's respite care for those who need a short stay or caregivers who need a break. Memory care is available for folks who might have dementia, with programs to help reduce confusion and prevent wandering. The place does offer assisted living options and even has nursing home care if someone needs short or long-term 24-hour nursing support, along with residential care home features for those needing a bit more, like a live-in caregiver for daily activities, and there are also home care services for companionship and non-medical assistance from aides.

Claremont Villas makes social life and wellness a priority, offering fitness classes and active aging programs, and it's set up to support the comfort and safety of seniors living there. The building was made to help residents connect with each other and to encourage staying active, without being fancy or over the top, and there's a quiet, supportive feeling around. The apartments are affordable for seniors, and the property follows fair housing rules, protecting residents from housing and employment discrimination based on gender identity, orientation, or income source. Details are not available on fees, apartment interiors, or exactly what's included with utilities, and specifics about building entrance or outdoor features haven't been shared, but internet service is nearby. The community posts plenty of photos for people who want to get a better look at daily life there before deciding.
