    Nice grounds, amenities; slow maintenance

I live here and enjoy the beautiful, well-kept grounds, renovated apartments with plenty of cabinet/closet space, and amenities like a pool, jacuzzi, game room and a shuttle to shopping. Staff are mostly pleasant and helpful, and there are affordable options/discounts (including Sec-8), though rent seems to rise often. Accessibility is poor - steep hill, three levels with no elevator and accessible units cost extra - and maintenance can be very slow (repairs sometimes take over a month). Noise, smoking and crowding at amenities also lessen the value for me.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across reviews for Loma Linda Springs is mixed but leans toward being a solid option for budget-conscious independent living residents who prioritize affordable, clean, and well-maintained grounds. Many reviewers praise the property’s appearance: renovated interiors and exteriors, attractive landscaping, and generally clean common areas. Apartment features that are frequently mentioned positively include one- and two-bedroom layouts, walk-in bathrooms and closets in some units, kitchenettes with refrigerators, plentiful cabinet and closet space, and the availability of unattached garages. Amenities such as a pool, jacuzzi, game room, a bus to shopping, and a pleasant dining area contribute to a functional independent-living environment. Multiple reviews explicitly call out the facility as affordable, with mentions of Section 8 and discount pricing, making it appealing to low-income seniors or those on fixed budgets.

Staff and maintenance receive highly polarized feedback. Several reviewers describe staff as pleasant, kind, helpful, and even phenomenal; an active maintenance crew and attentive staff are cited in a number of positive reviews. Conversely, other reviewers report the opposite: unhelpful, unwilling staff and specific maintenance problems that linger for extended periods (one reviewer reported a repair pending for over a month). This inconsistency suggests variable staff performance or uneven responsiveness depending on circumstance, shift, or individual staff members. When evaluating the community, prospective residents should ask specific questions about maintenance response times, escalation paths for unresolved repairs, and staff turnover to get a clearer picture.

Accessibility and building layout are recurring concerns. The property includes ramps and walkways, but several reviewers emphasize significant accessibility challenges: buildings span three levels with no elevator, the site sits on a steep hill, and lengthy walks to some apartments are common. Handicap-accessible units appear scarce, and reviewers report that ground-level units (which are the primary accessible option) may carry an additional cost. These specifics imply that residents with mobility limitations should carefully inspect unit locations, paths between buildings, and ingress/egress before committing. Related services such as transportation also have mixed reports — while some praise a bus to shopping, others note a lack of transportation assistance — so confirmation of scheduled transportation or alternative options is advised.

Community life and value perceptions vary. Some residents appreciate the diverse age groups, social opportunities, and amenities; others cite quality-of-life downsides including noisy neighbors (loud music), smoking, children living on-site, and an overcrowded pool. A few reviewers also noted empty apartments and expressed concern about turnover or occupancy. On cost, while many emphasize affordability, others feel the price does not match the experience — noting frequent rent increases (reported every six months) or calling the value expensive. Practical limitations such as no meals included and only one working computer in the computer room are small but concrete service gaps mentioned by reviewers.

In summary, Loma Linda Springs presents a largely affordable, clean, and well-kept independent living environment with useful amenities and generally attractive grounds. Its strongest suits are value-oriented housing features and property maintenance/appearance. However, important caveats include inconsistent staff responsiveness, occasional prolonged maintenance issues, accessibility and layout challenges (no elevators, steep site, limited handicap units with added cost), and mixed experiences around transportation and community noise. Prospective residents should tour specific unit locations, ask for maintenance and rent-increase policies in writing, verify available transportation options, and speak with current residents about staff responsiveness and community atmosphere to determine whether this community fits their mobility, social, and budget needs.

    About Loma Linda Springs

Loma Linda Springs is a 55 and older apartment community that offers thoughtfully designed one and two-bedroom apartments, with sizes from 616 to 1,011 square feet, and there's a focus on comfort, convenience, and natural beauty in the design here, with landscaped outdoor areas and welcoming spaces for gathering or just enjoying some quiet, and folks who live here can bring their cats or dogs because pets are allowed, plus there's smoke-free building policy for those who need it. The apartments themselves come with simple, helpful features like central air conditioning and heating, dishwashers, garbage disposals, some with washer and dryer hookups, and select units offer patios, balconies, and vaulted ceilings if you like extra space. For staying active or relaxing, there are two swimming pools the residents call "sparkling pools," two fitness centers, and two spas, and people who want to have gatherings or play games often use the two clubhouses or the recreation rooms, which isn't all that common in San Bernardino County. Safety and security get attention here too-there are fire sprinklers, gated and controlled access, off-street surface parking, and covered parking including some detached garages. Folks can grill at the BBQ picnic areas, wander the courtyards, or grab a book from the library for a quiet afternoon. The building features include fiberglass tub and shower enclosures, and there's elevator access to some apartments which helps those who don't like stairs. On-site maintenance and management handle repairs and day-to-day needs. People say the outdoor areas and active living choices help everyone feel connected and satisfied. The neighborhood has nearby public transit, and there are local schools close, which can be nice for residents with grandkids visiting, but Loma Linda Springs mainly focuses on offering tailored supportive services and amenities for seniors who want a comfortable, well-kept place where they can enjoy their days.
