    Caring staff, clean welcoming community

I live here and I'm very happy with my choice. The staff are caring, professional and go above and beyond; management is responsive. The community is clean, secure and welcoming, with spacious apartments (kitchens/balconies), nice grounds, and a full activities calendar-bingo, movies, exercise classes and outings. Meals are excellent (three chef-prepared meals daily), transportation and onsite clinics make care convenient, and the value is solid. A few areas show age, but overall I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Parkside Senior Apartments is strongly positive, with the dominant themes being exceptional staff, a warm community atmosphere, robust activities and amenities, and generally good value. Across dozens of comments reviewers repeatedly emphasize that staff are friendly, caring, professional and often go above and beyond. Multiple leaders and staff members are named and praised (for example, directors such as Paula and Kenya, Chef Josh, and front-line employees), and many family members report feeling that their loved ones are treated like family. Tours and move-in transitions are frequently described as smooth and reassuring, and residents and families highlight proactive communication from coordinators and management in many instances.

Care quality and staff performance are among the strongest positives. Reviews consistently note compassionate caregiving, prompt and effective maintenance, dependable housekeeping, medication distribution, and assistance with appointments. Several comments describe staff stepping up during COVID (on-site vaccination clinics and clinic support) and implementing strong safety measures such as social distancing and enhanced services to reduce the need for residents to leave the building. Families repeatedly report that management and staff are responsive to concerns, take feedback seriously, and have improved service levels and amenities under current leadership.

Dining and social programming are other standout features. Many reviewers praise the dining experience — three meals a day prepared by professional chefs, attractive dining rooms, and friendly dining service are commonly mentioned. At the same time there is a repeated but smaller thread of criticism about food: a minority of reviewers dislike certain menu items or mention limited vegetarian options. Activities are a clear strength: regular bingo, movie nights, band/music, Bible studies, exercise classes, weekly trips and transportation, and various social events are frequently called out. The social life and organized programming create a lively environment that many residents find engaging and home-like.

Facilities and apartment features receive mostly positive feedback but with some variability. Many units are described as spacious, with balconies, kitchens or kitchenettes, large bathrooms with safety bars, step-in tubs or walk-in showers, and pleasant views (pool or landscaped grounds). Renovations and upgrades (new washers/dryers, updated floors and appliances) are noted positively. Common areas such as the chapel, library, activity room, cafeteria, courtyard and dog park are appreciated. However, several reviewers point to the building’s age in places, ongoing remodeling work with construction noise and many contractors visible, and signs of wear. A few reviewers described odors in hallways or individual units, and some called out heavy doors or other accessibility issues. There are also mixed comments about apartment size — many say units are roomy while a minority report very small one-bedroom units in other parts of the property.

Safety, security and value are generally positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize gated access, secure doors, on-site security and a sense of safety for seniors. Many families feel the community offers excellent value for those on fixed incomes, with inclusive amenities and regular programming contributing to perceived affordability. The property is also praised for well-kept landscaping (even detailed mentions like numerous rose bushes), which contributes to curb appeal.

Notable patterns of concern and inconsistency: front-desk coverage and communication surface repeatedly as the clearest operational weakness. Several reviews describe unstaffed front desks, waits up to about 30 minutes for assistance, or needing to rely on maintenance staff to reach administrators — this appears to be an intermittent but recurring problem. There are also contradictory reports in a few areas: most accounts mention transportation provided to medical appointments and regular trips, but a handful of reviews complain about lack of transportation; most mention three meals daily and good dining, yet some claim no lunch or poor food. These contradictions suggest that resident experiences may vary by building location, specific unit, timing, or staffing shifts. Other less frequent negatives include neighborhood safety concerns noted by some reviewers, occasional smells in hallways or units, and disruption from remodeling or contractor activity.

In conclusion, Parkside Senior Apartments is consistently portrayed as a caring, activity-rich senior community with excellent staffing, good amenities, strong dining for many residents, and solid value. The principal cautions from reviews are operational variability: intermittent front-desk understaffing and communication lapses; some food preferences not being met (notably vegetarian options); signs of building age and renovation-related disruption; and a small number of concerns about odors or neighborhood location. Prospective residents and families should prioritize an in-person visit and inquire specifically about front-desk coverage, current renovation timelines, unit-specific sizes and layout, and meal/transportation details to confirm that the particular unit and service patterns meet their expectations. Overall, the balance of commentary indicates a largely positive resident experience anchored by strong staff and active community life, tempered by a few operational and facility-related issues to clarify during touring and decision-making.
