    Modern, resort-like apartments with activities

I had a very positive experience touring this community. The apartments are modern, bright, and roomy with in-unit washers/dryers and a nice kitchen; the atmosphere felt resort-like, rent seemed reasonable, and the community is very active with lots of social activities. Staff were super accommodating on our thorough tour - I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews is positive, with repeated praise for the physical apartments, the active social life, and the staff who conduct tours and interact with visitors. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the units themselves are modern, well-lit, and well-appointed — specifically noting natural light, in-unit washers and dryers, and generous room and kitchen sizes. The community is described several times as resort-like and very social, with many activities and an active atmosphere that many reviewers enjoyed and recommended. Rent is characterized as reasonable by more than one summary, reinforcing a general value perception among reviewers.

Facilities receive largely favorable comments for apartment quality, but there are consistent caveats about common spaces and communal amenities. While the property is praised for the apartments and a resort-like feel, reviewers call out limited indoor gathering areas and a lobby that doesn’t feel particularly homey. Those observations suggest the community excels at providing attractive private living spaces, while some shared spaces may feel reduced or less comfortable than expected for frequent indoor socializing or quiet lounging.

Staff and management impressions are distinctly positive. Several summaries highlight very good tours, staff who were accommodating and thorough, and overall positive interactions during visits. Reviewers mention being shown everything and having a strong, helpful touring experience — a pattern that points to attentive sales or leasing staff and an effective front-line team when welcoming prospective residents.

Activities and community life are recurring strengths. The phrase "very active community" and mentions of many social activities and a resort-like atmosphere indicate that the community is intentionally programmed and socially engaging. These features appear to be a major draw for residents and visitors who value events, interaction, and an energetic environment.

Important operational and care-related limitations appear in multiple summaries and should be weighed carefully. The community does not offer meals, which is an explicit gap for people seeking dining services as part of senior living. There is also no 24-hour onsite staff, which raises safety and care-level concerns for prospective residents who need overnight or around-the-clock assistance. Several reviewers noted that the community may not be a good fit for certain loved ones — which likely reflects these gaps in continuous staffing and meal service and suggests the property is better suited to relatively independent seniors rather than those requiring higher levels of medical or personal care.

Financial and policy notes are pragmatic: rent is described as reasonable, but utilities are billed separately from rent. That arrangement matters for budgeting and total monthly cost comparisons and was called out specifically by reviewers. Combined with the absence of included meals, prospective residents should calculate total living costs rather than relying on base rent alone.

In sum, the reviews paint Solana Lakewood as a modern, attractive option with strong social programming, well-equipped private apartments, and staff who make a positive impression during visits. The primary trade-offs are the lack of dining services, absence of 24-hour onsite staff, limited indoor communal space, and some common areas that reviewers found less inviting. These patterns point to a strong fit for independent, socially active seniors who want newer apartments and an event-filled community, but a less suitable choice for those needing higher levels of medical supervision, overnight care, or included dining services.

    About Solana Lakewood

Solana Lakewood is a 55+ apartment community at 11001 W 15th Place, Lakewood, Colorado, where folks get one- or two-bedroom apartments in layouts ranging from 798 to 1,234 square feet, with options for either one or two bathrooms, all set up with designer flooring, quartz countertops, well-sized bedrooms, and each home has its own private patio or balcony, so there's some space to get outside right from your own place. The apartments are designed for seniors seeking maintenance-free, service-enriched living, meaning that property management and day-to-day upkeep get handled for the residents, so you don't have to worry about mowing or fixing anything yourself, and it's all rental units, not owned.

The community has a bunch of amenities on-site, including a pool, gym, and outdoor spaces, and they keep things social with regular game nights, a grand parlor, a rooftop terrace, and a bistro for when people want to eat or meet others. There's also an outdoor dining area if you want to have your meals in the fresh air. Solana Lakewood makes things easier for pet owners, too, because there's an on-site pet spa and a private pet park so dogs and cats can be part of the community, though the pet policy means there's a $35 monthly fee per apartment, a $300 refundable deposit, and some breed restrictions to know about.

On top of that, there's a "Live Healthy" program and occasional events geared toward wellbeing, and the community keeps a calm and active environment for older adults. The apartments have contemporary features and a look that's simple but comfortable, and for people who like to see what's nearby, there's parks, shopping, and dining right outside the community. Folks here don't have to handle maintenance or heavy chores, and there's always help from the leasing team with questions about floor plans, neighborhood details, or paperwork.

There are some extra fees to be aware of, like a utility account setup at move-in for $17 per unit, a $1,000 community amenity fee, application fees of $15 per applicant, and a refundable holding deposit of $1,000, plus utility and admin fees, and optional services like renters liability insurance you can choose to add. Sometimes they run specials, such as $5,000 off the lease with a rent credit for moving in by May 31, 2025, which gets spread across the first and third months, if you get in by the listed dates. Solana Lakewood works with Greystar Advantage and mentions investment management, property management, logistics, student housing, and modular construction, though the focus here is active adult living. Office hours run Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM, with shorter hours on Saturdays, and the community has a contact form to get started if you're interested in renting and seeing what apartments are available. At last check, they had some units open for move-in through late July and August. Overall, it's a straightforward choice for seniors looking for simple, modern, and pet-friendly apartments with plenty of places to be social or just relax.
