    Friendly staff, spacious, active, affordable

I'm very pleased with Westhaven - the staff (Joyce and team) are friendly, helpful and responsive, and maintenance is proactive. The community is clean, my apartment is spacious with plenty of storage, and there's a lively activities calendar (Bingo, movies, crafts, story time), plus a gym, game room, terrace and laundry. It's conveniently located near shops and restaurants, reasonably priced, feels safe and social, and I'd recommend it to families seeking an active, affordable senior living option.

    Summary of reviews

Westhaven Apartment Homes presents a mixed profile: a large, cost-competitive independent-living community with an active social program and staff that many residents and families describe as friendly and attentive. The site offers a range of amenities that support an independent senior lifestyle — on-site fitness, game rooms, a terrace and outdoor seating, organized activities (Bingo, movies, crafts, story time), and transportation for residents. Several reviewers emphasized the positive social environment, staffing that checks on residents and provides continuity during hospital stays, and an overall sense of community among residents.

Facilities and unit quality appear uneven. Many residents praise spacious apartments with good storage and a convenient location near shopping and dining; others describe units and some apartments that require significant attention. Reviewers cited sanitation and hoarding-related concerns in particular units and noted pest-control problems that required management intervention. Building infrastructure reliability is an area of concern: laundry equipment and snow-removal services are sometimes unavailable or unreliable, and some safety-related elements (fire doors, alarm systems, trash-door mechanisms) have been identified as nonfunctional or inconsistently maintained.

Care and staff-related experiences are largely positive on interpersonal measures: staff are described as polite, helpful, and engaged in resident activities, and security measures such as controlled access, night watch, and increased patrols after past incidents have been implemented. At the same time, there are substantive operational concerns about confidentiality and procedural consistency. Reviewers allege breaches of resident privacy with sharing of medical and financial information, inconsistent entry-code management, and assertions of favoritism in the distribution of privileges and remotes. A small but serious set of comments raises concerns about management responses to safety complaints, including claims of eviction actions following safety reporting; these constitute allegations that prospective residents and families should investigate further.

Maintenance responsiveness receives mixed assessments: some reviewers describe proactive and timely maintenance that resolved issues like pests, while others describe ongoing infrastructure problems and slow or inconsistent service. The net effect is variability in resident experience — some tenants report a well-kept, activity-rich environment they would recommend, whereas others advise caution due to unit-level cleanliness, pest-control, and safety-system reliability issues.

For prospective residents and families: schedule an in-person tour that includes multiple apartment types and common areas; request documentation of recent pest-control treatments and safety-system repairs (fire doors, alarms); ask about average maintenance response times and snow-removal/laundry service reliability; clarify privacy and data-handling policies; and review lease and grievance/eviction procedures. These targeted questions will help assess whether a particular unit and management team align with your expectations for safety, cleanliness, and consistent operational practices.

    About Westhaven Apartment Homes

Westhaven Apartment Homes sits in the Eiber neighborhood of Lakewood, CO, where folks aged 62 and over live in a quiet part of town that's friendly and close to everything you need, stores for groceries, restaurants, and places to have fun, and if someone wants to get around without driving, there's public transportation and the light rail nearby, with a walk score of 68 and transit score of 52, so you can get most places pretty easily. The building is a smoke-free place, and every apartment gets good natural light, open kitchen plans, and plenty of closet space, plus they're all air-conditioned, and for people who need it, there are accessible floor plans, apartments with bath tubs in each unit, and wheelchair-friendly showers, which helps folks who might have trouble getting in and out of the bath.

The apartments all come with basics like garbage disposals, and the whole building is made for adults 55 and older, but mostly for people 62 and up, so you won't find kids running around, mostly just folks looking for a nice, steady place to live. There's a strong sense of community because the layout and the staff encourage people to spend time together, whether it's through organized activities like Bingo, crafts, movies, or story time. The place offers social activities, a game room, social events, fitness salon, and health and wellness programs, plus laundry facilities, and there are plenty of common areas inside, so folks can meet and talk or share a meal if they want. The community's got indoor common rooms, and you get mountain and city views from some spots, which is nice for folks who like to watch the seasons.

Westhaven supports different needs with care options like assisted living, independent living, memory care, and nursing, so people can stay as their needs change, and pets are allowed, especially dogs, which is good for residents who want to bring a companion along. The staff is friendly, always around, and takes care of things quickly and properly, and there's a system so no one gets locked out if they forget their key, plus security is tight, with police patrols, night watch, and controlled entry. Westhaven also organizes devotional activities and services off-site for those seeking spiritual growth, so if that's important, it's something to consider.

The area is somewhat walkable, and you can get to shopping, recreation, and entertainment with little trouble, whether you're on foot or using the available transportation options. The building isn't huge, just a two-unit apartment setup, but the units are roomy, covering areas from 574 to over 68,000 square feet altogether, and if anyone needs help with access due to disability, the place handles that too. All in all, Westhaven Apartment Homes is a senior apartment community with features and support made for people as they get older, offering safety, comfort, and room for both quiet living and social engagement, and whether someone needs more care or just a simple independent setup, they usually find what they need.
