    Friendly residents, management ruins it

I moved to Plantation Village for the friendly residents, caring neighbors, gated grounds, large clubhouse and nonstop activities - potlucks, bingo, Bunco, cards, pancake breakfasts, pool, exercise equipment, pickleball, shuffleboard, bocce, horseshoes and a peaceful pond with ducks. Sadly, current management has become rude, dishonest and unresponsive: rules change when money's involved, locks and clubhouse access were altered (possible new key fees), and there's bullying, retaliation and eviction threats that terrorize the elderly. It used to be a great, supportive community with a good board and manager, but now I'm afraid to speak up. Despite the people and amenities, I can't recommend it while management runs things this way.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is mixed but sharply divided between very positive impressions of the residents, community life, and physical amenities, and very negative impressions of current management practices. On the positive side, reviewers consistently praise a warm, caring resident population and an active social calendar. The community is described as attractive and gated, with a large clubhouse and many on-site amenities: library, exercise equipment, a pool, and diverse outdoor recreation options such as shuffleboard, pickleball, horseshoes, and bocce. Social and group activities appear frequent and varied, including potluck dinners, pancake breakfasts, coffee get-togethers, bingo, Bunco, pinochle, and euchre, creating a busy and engaged lifestyle. The pond with ducks and local wildlife is noted as a pleasant natural feature, and several residents express gratitude for having found Plantation Village.

However, these positive elements are overshadowed for many reviewers by serious, recurring complaints about management. Multiple summaries describe a shift from previously supportive, caring management and an effective board to a current regime characterized as power-hungry, dishonest, retaliatory, and rude. Specific management actions cited include closing the clubhouse, changing locks, proposing potential new key fees, and enforcing or revising rules in ways perceived as self-serving. Several reviewers report a 'none of your business' attitude from staff, unresponsiveness, and a lack of accountability. The management company is called useless and dishonest by some, and a number of comments emphasize bullying, intimidation tactics, eviction threats, and actions that 'terrorize the elderly.' These reports create a pattern of fear among residents and a reluctance to speak up.

A notable pattern in the reviews is a temporal contrast: people who have lived at Plantation Village for a long time often describe it as having once been a very good, caring place with a positive board and manager, while more recent or continuing experiences highlight a deterioration linked to the current management. This suggests the community infrastructure (amenities, resident culture, activities) remains strong, but governance and administration have become volatile and problematic. The practical consequences reported include reduced access to shared spaces (clubhouse closures, changed locks), potential new costs, stricter or inconsistently applied policies (including pet rules), and a climate of intimidation that undermines the social fabric that otherwise seems vibrant.

In summary, Plantation Village offers many of the hallmarks of an attractive, activity-rich senior living community—friendly neighbors, plentiful organized events, recreational facilities, and pleasant grounds. Yet several reviewers warn prospective residents to be cautious because management behavior and policy enforcement have created significant distress and disruption. The tension between a thriving resident-driven community and problematic management is the dominant theme: if the positive daily life and amenities are a priority, reviewers acknowledge strong virtues; if stable, transparent, and respectful management is essential, reviewers report serious, recurring concerns that have materially affected resident wellbeing and access to facilities.

    About Plantation Village Mobile Home

Plantation Village Mobile Home is a 55+ manufactured home community in Bayshore Gardens, Florida, and folks like the way it sits just half a mile from the water where you can watch ducks, herons, and turtles by the pond on benches under big trees, and you'll see paved streets, off-street parking, and plenty of lush green spaces for walking or sitting in the shade. The community has 346 sites with a mix of mobile and manufactured homes, and there's usually a choice between different sizes and years, including some two-bedroom, two-bath homes and studio layouts, and homes can be bought with several different financing options which the community's management and staff will help explain, since they handle all the loan servicing details and equity sources, and they're around on-site when needed. Pets are allowed, though only small pets in certain sections, and you'll find the place is both gated and friendly since the folks here are active and care about each other, meeting up for card games like pinochle and euchre, bingo, Bunco, potlucks, pancake breakfasts, and morning coffee in a big clubhouse that's always busy with something or other. There are plenty of amenities made for an active retirement, like a swimming pool, pickleball and bocce ball courts, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pitches, a billiard room, a fitness center with exercise equipment, a quiet library, pathways for walks, outdoor gathering spots, and areas for community events, so people here can be as social or as private as they want, and there's always an activity going on if a person wants to join in. Meals and dining options are available along with health care services, and the community offers independent living and a supportive setting for folks over 55 who want to stay active but like having help nearby if they need it. The location is close to Florida's beaches, golf courses, museums, and places for entertainment, and Plantation Village Mobile Home lets residents take in the simple pleasures of warm weather, green grass, quiet times, and friendly faces, but it's worth noting the place has an average rating of 2.8 out of 10, which puts it at number 41 in the city, so it's not without its faults but still has a loyal group of residents happy to call it home.
