    Friendly waterfront community with amenities

I give this place five stars overall. I loved the friendly community, waterfront location with a nice clubhouse, pool and pier, lots of activities and transportation to grocery stores and trips, and it's very close to Honeymoon Island. My roomy one-bedroom with kitchen, dining area, living room and water view was great (price varies by view) - I really liked it, though my mom didn't want to be that far away. Maintenance fixes are quick but the crew is small and can be intrusive; staff aren't perfect. Downsides: occasional cigarette smoke smell, high electric bills, and some safety/privacy concerns.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is positive but tempered by specific practical concerns. Reviewers consistently praise the friendly staff and the social atmosphere: the community is described as friendly, and staff interactions are repeatedly highlighted as a strength. The property’s waterfront setting, clubhouse, pool and pier are frequent highlights. Many reviewers emphasize the waterfront views and proximity to Honeymoon Island as important selling points, and the presence of a clubhouse and active programming contributes to a strong sense of community. The overall star rating referenced is five stars, indicating high overall satisfaction among some reviewers.

Facilities and living spaces are viewed favorably. Units mentioned are described as roomy one‑bedroom apartments with full kitchens, dining areas and living rooms, which supports independent living and in‑unit dining. The property offers numerous amenities and organized activities; transportation is available for grocery shopping and group trips, which residents appreciate. Recreational features such as the pool area and pier are repeatedly called out, reinforcing the appeal of the waterfront location. Maintenance is generally responsive — reviewers note that maintenance requests are addressed quickly — which is an important practical plus.

Staff and management impressions are mixed but lean positive. Staff are called friendly, and that friendliness contributes to the community feel. However, reviewers also note that the maintenance team is small. While quick to resolve issues, the limited size of the maintenance staff may contribute to occasional operational limitations and to a sense of intrusion when maintenance staff need to access units. There are explicit complaints about maintenance intrusion into personal space, and some residents raised safety and privacy concerns connected to that issue.

There are several recurring concerns that prospective residents should weigh against the positives. Cigarette smoke odor in portions of the community is mentioned more than once and could affect comfort for non‑smokers. Several reviewers report high electric bills, indicating that utility costs may be a notable ongoing expense. Privacy and safety concerns — including unwanted access or perceived intrusion by maintenance — are cited and should be clarified with management prior to move‑in. Price sensitivity is another theme: waterfront or water‑view units command higher prices, so cost depends significantly on whether a unit has a view. Finally, at least one reviewer noted that a family member did not want to be that far away, indicating that the property’s distance from family support networks may matter to some prospective residents.

In summary, Scottish Towers II Apartments appears to offer a desirable waterfront senior living experience with strong community features, plentiful activities, convenient transportation options, and attractive common spaces like a clubhouse, pool and pier. The living units are roomy and support independent living. The main negatives to investigate further are cigarette smoke smell in parts of the property, potentially high electric bills, privacy and safety concerns related to maintenance access, and variations in price based on water views. Prospective residents should verify utility costs, review maintenance and entry policies, and consider unit location (water view versus non‑water view) when evaluating whether the property fits their needs.

    About Scottish Towers II Apartments

Scottish Towers II Apartments sits in Dunedin, Florida, right by the water and offers 55+ living with plenty of comforts and extras, and when you live here you get to pick from studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, with floor plans such as the Waverly, Sterling, The Edinburgh, and Heather, each built a little different, with some homes getting new floors, cabinets, and kitchen areas, plus you'll find ceiling fans, air conditioning, window treatments, and even hardwood floors in some units, and there are lots of choices for how long your lease runs, from just one month up to sixteen months, which helps if you're looking for flexibility, and the $500 security deposit is pretty standard for this area. Renters need insurance starting January 1st, 2024, and you can lease your apartment online, plus rental assistance is available through HUD if you qualify. The apartments have dishwashers, disposals, private entries, kitchen windows, and laundry facilities right on site, while elevator access makes it easier for folks with mobility needs, and accessible units are available too if that's something you need.

Now, the thing about Scottish Towers II Apartments is they offer Platinum Service™, which means the staff works to make things smooth and positive for everyone, with 24-hour emergency maintenance and caring management that's consistent, and the place is set up so you're not on your own, with social activities happening all the time-Mardi Gras parties, luaus, card parties, potlucks, trips to horse races, and plenty of exercise classes, something for just about everyone, really, especially with the clubhouse, community rooms, courtyard, and a waterfront gazebo where people relax or catch up. There's a heated swimming pool, and if you want to sit by the water or cast a fishing line, there's a private lighted fishing pier with a nice view, and you can get parking on the property, plus garage options if you need them. They let you have cats and dogs if you follow their rules-some breed and size limits do apply, and there are fees, but pets are welcome here and they even have water or pool views in some units so it's a nice spot for everyone.

Scottish Towers II Apartments runs a bus service that gets residents out to the local shops, the library, and other places of interest, so you don't have to worry about driving if you don't want to, and they keep things locked down with good security features, including round-the-clock maintenance for any issues that pop up, and the community feels pretty active and safe. You'll find stories from people who live there, too, and the place gets mentioned when folks talk about budgeting for senior living-things like paying from savings, insurance, and even veteran's benefits or Medicaid sometimes. The apartments can work for those looking for independent living, and some services may line up with assisted living needs, though there's no memory care or nursing noted here. The spot is close to Honeymoon Island State Park for beach days, hiking, or a trip to the nature center. Scottish Towers II Apartments doesn't claim to have the fanciest features out there, but it covers the basics and a good bit more, focusing on community, comfort, and flexibility for seniors who want to stay social and independent.
