    Friendly staff, comfortable modern community

I live here and am very pleased - the staff are consistently friendly, helpful and down-to-earth, and the community is clean, modern and comfortable. My spacious apartment has a beautiful functional kitchen, washer/dryer, terrace and emergency pull-cords, and the facility offers a large pool, fitness room, on-site therapy, lots of activities and six-day transportation. Meals by a chef, plentiful social opportunities and an informative, pleasant tour sold me on it; I would recommend this community to others.

    Summary of reviews

Sandalwood Village presents as a well-appointed independent-living community with a strong emphasis on lifestyle amenities and resident interaction. Review commentary emphasizes a broad activity program (exercise classes, arts, pool tables, fitness room) and robust communal spaces, which contribute to an engaging social environment. The community appears attractive to active older adults seeking on-site conveniences and opportunities to build friendships.

Staff and care-related indicators are generally positive. Interactions between staff and residents are described as warm, informative, and accommodating; tours are noted as helpful. Clinical offerings align with an independent-living focus: there is on-site physical therapy and emergency pull cords in bedrooms and bathrooms, but reviews do not emphasize skilled-nursing services or higher-acuity clinical programs. Prospective residents who require frequent clinical oversight should confirm the scope of available medical services and care transitions with management.

Dining receives mixed feedback. The property offers chef-prepared evening meals several nights per week and includes breakfast as part of some arrangements, and reviewers praise dining room ambiance and several meal experiences. At the same time, there are recurring notes about additional charges for meal plans and utilities (electricity, cable) and mentions of declining or inconsistent food quality. Dining logistics are also uneven: breakfast for some is served in a different building, which may be inconvenient depending on unit location.

The activity and transportation programs are clear strengths. A scheduled shuttle runs for shopping and medical appointments most days of the week, and on-site options (pool, fitness room, classes) support an active lifestyle. Residents report that social opportunities make it relatively easy to meet people and form friendships.

Physical facilities are generally described as clean, modern, and well maintained. Many units are large, with full kitchens, in-unit washers/dryers, terraces, and updated finishes; other areas of the campus appear older, creating variability in unit age and amenity distribution. Practical limitations noted include smaller unit configurations with compact bathrooms and limited closet space in the smallest floor plans, as well as parking constraints and garage access that depends on elevator operation.

Management and cost considerations are notable patterns. Staff responsiveness and helpfulness are consistently praised, but several comments highlight that the community is relatively expensive and that additional fees apply for meals and utilities. Value perceptions vary: some residents describe the community as good value given the amenities and staff, while others find the total cost burdensome.

Bottom line: Sandalwood Village is positioned as a lifestyle-focused independent-living option with strong staff–resident rapport, extensive activities, and substantial on-site amenities. Key trade-offs to evaluate in person include unit size and layout differences across the campus, parking and dining logistics, and the effect of additional fees on total cost of living. Prospective residents and families should verify the specific services included in contract pricing, review unit floor plans for bathroom and storage dimensions, and tour both newer and older sections of the property to confirm fit and accessibility needs.

    About Sandalwood Village

Sandalwood Village is a senior living community at 3511 Vanderbilt Beach Rd in Naples, FL that offers a range of care options, from independent living and assisted living to memory care and skilled nursing, so folks can find the support they need whether they're living on their own or need daily help after an illness, surgery, or hospital stay, and the place is managed by United Group, who have more than 40 years of experience working with seniors. The staff are trained to give personalized assistance with daily tasks, like bathing, dressing, medication management, meals, or just getting around, and there's always someone there, day or night, so residents can call for help if something comes up. Sandalwood Village has special programs for people with dementia and Alzheimer's, and those in the Memory Care unit get 24-hour supervision, support to prevent wandering, activities designed to stimulate memory, and safe spaces set up to help ease anxiety.

Residents can choose from private suites or semi-private rooms in both assisted living and memory care, and each has private bathrooms, air conditioning, telephone, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and kitchenettes, with furnished rooms available for people who want them already set up, and help with laundry, housekeeping, and linen service is part of the package. The dining room serves allergy-sensitive and diabetes-friendly meals, and you can get a meal at any time thanks to all-day dining, which means nobody has to worry about missing a meal if they're out at an activity or want to eat at a different hour, and staff make special meal plans to match dietary needs.

Community features include a garden, walking paths, landscaped grounds, a swimming pool with jacuzzi, fitness center, movie theater, activity and arts rooms, outdoor programs, a poolside clubhouse, and scheduled daily activities led by both staff and residents, so there's always something to do, whether it's movie night, an art class, or just sitting out on the patio with friends. Folks who live independently can get optional support services if they want them, and everyone can bring up to two small pets, as long as each weighs under 25 pounds.

The community pays attention to safety, with 24-hour call systems, security, emergency response features, and supervision for those who need it, plus memory care residents get added monitoring to reduce stress and wandering. Health care services at Sandalwood Village cover things like physical therapy, rehabilitative care, medication help, and even hospice waiver, and there's a nurse on duty who can help organize visits to nearby clinics or specialists, including places like Lee Health Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Dr. Stephen E. Smith.

The place is committed to accessibility too, making sure it's easy to get around for people with walkers or wheelchairs, and also supports digital access, meeting important standards so everyone, including visitors and staff with disabilities, can use the website and community technology. For comfort and convenience, Sandalwood Village includes services like concierge help, move-in coordination, dry cleaning, renters liability insurance program, and more.

This community offers senior living choices and services, including Independent Living with resort-style amenities, Assisted Living for those who need more daily support, Memory Care for dementia or Alzheimer's, Skilled Nursing with around-the-clock medical care and rehabilitation, and all sorts of programs and activities so people can stay active, social, and well cared for, and there's a sense that everyone can find a place to fit in and feel at home.
