    Immaculate but staff show favoritism

I appreciated the immaculate, friendly atmosphere and would recommend it for cleanliness and comfort. My concerns: some staff felt disrespectful and intrusive with signs of favoritism, extra services and bus transport are minimal, and the resident mix may not suit everyone - the visit did help me clarify what I want.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews present a mixed picture. The facility is described as clean, well-kept and having a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and it appears to serve an affordable low-income housing role. At the same time, multiple operational concerns emerge: limited ancillary services, unreliable transportation, and issues related to staff behavior and resident placement.

Care and staff: The reviews convey specific worries about staff conduct and the tone of interactions with residents and families. Descriptions emphasize perceived rudeness, lack of compassion, invasions of privacy, and inconsistent treatment that some characterize as favoritism. These observations point to potential gaps in staff training, supervision, or staffing stability that could affect day-to-day care quality and family communications. There is also at least one positive note that the environment helped a resident clarify their personal preferences, suggesting the community may support some aspects of resident decision-making.

Dining, activities, and services: There is little direct feedback about dining or organized activities in the summaries provided. The strongest service-related theme is the absence of additional supportive services beyond housing; this suggests the community functions primarily as an affordable housing option rather than a full-service assisted-living provider. Transportation is another clear concern: on-site or scheduled bus service is described as effectively non-functional, which can limit residents' access to appointments, shopping, and community activities.

Facilities, management, and patterns to watch: Physical facilities are portrayed positively with attention to cleanliness and an overall pleasant atmosphere. Management-level issues appear to center on service scope and staff management—specifically, placement practices for residents with challenging behaviors and inconsistent staff interactions. For prospective residents and families, recommended next steps include an in-person tour, direct questions about staff training and supervision, clarification of available on-site services and activity programming, verification of transportation arrangements, and review of placement/behavior-management policies and complaint-resolution processes. These checks can help determine whether the facility’s strengths align with a particular resident’s needs and expectations.

    About Silver Village

Silver Village sits at 5401 54th St in Lubbock, Texas, and has earned a reputation for having helpful, joyful, and kind staff who make the place friendly and welcoming right when you walk in, and they try hard to keep life active here with planned activities that help residents stay engaged socially, physically, mentally, and emotionally-whether folks are enjoying group games, fitness in the 24-hour fitness room, or simple chats in the clubhouse. This senior community has a garden-style layout, with 100 apartment units-mostly one-bedroom options, but also a handful of two-bedroom-and each has a private entrance, air conditioning, backyard patios with plenty of yard space for pets, plank flooring, and essential appliances, including refrigerators. Silver Village allows both cats and dogs and even has a dedicated dog park, pet clean-up stations, and off-street parking for convenience, plus the whole place is smoke-free, making it easier for everyone to breathe.

For dining, they serve up meals that focus on nutrition and quality, letting folks enjoy good food together in the shared dining room, and nobody has to worry much about chores since the staff takes care of trash removal and on-site laundry. The grounds here stay well maintained, with plenty of green space and landscaping, and residents or families who need extra care can choose assisted living, memory care, independent living, home care, or even care homes, so there's flexibility if needs change over time. Rent covers utilities, and there's always a service coordinator to help with anything that might pop up, plus they handle problems quickly with 24/7 emergency maintenance. Silver Village runs on a schedule, with services open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 12:30 and again from 13:30 to 16:00, keeping things accessible for everyone, and they do take privacy seriously, following strict policies to protect resident information during the leasing process. Managed by California Commercial Investment Group, this community is set up for people aged 62 or older or people with a disability, aiming for comfort and calm where each resident can feel at ease, stay social if they want, and just enjoy the day in a place that tries to be simple, safe, and inclusive.
