Palm Bay Memory Care is a single-story community that focuses on memory care for people with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia, and the place has circular hallways with visual cues to guide residents, with a secure courtyard, walking paths, and raised garden beds with fresh herbs and fragrant flowers that make it nicer to spend time outdoors, and pets can come along as well. The facility runs the PLAYS program, built to help residents at all stages of memory challenges, and uses the MUSIC & MEMORY® Program, which means residents can listen to personalized music playlists to help bring back memories and create a calming environment, and this connects to new research about how music helps people with memory loss. There's also the iN2L™ technology on site, and that encourages residents to do more activities and stay mentally active.
The staff includes nationally certified dementia practitioners who work around-the-clock, and they get specific training in supporting residents' dignity and independence, and there's a nurse on staff part-time, and each resident has an individualized care plan, and support covers things like medication reminders, personal care, and different therapies like physical therapy and rehabilitation. The community also offers Graceful Respite Stays for short-term care, and the place is managed by Grace Management, Inc., a company with a long history of senior care.
Residents can pick from private or companion suites in several floor plans, with the rooms ranging from 242 to 324 square feet in size, and options include studios and one-bedroom units, all in a secured, gated setting that aims to lower anxiety and stress by following Alzheimer's Association guidelines. Daily life includes restaurant-style meals called Graceful Dining™, fitness and wellness programs, salon and barber services, scheduled community trips, devotional activities, arts and crafts, tabletop games, and music classes, and a hot tub spa is available, too. The location gives residents nature trails, dock views where manatees show up, and access to outdoor features that are easy to enjoy.
Inside, there's a computer room and WiFi in each unit, and housekeeping and linen services are provided so things stay tidy. Transportation gets residents to shopping and appointments, and the Vibrant Living Program and The Village Program® both help keep each person's schedule and preferences in mind-making room for plenty of activities that help promote social connection and a sense of purpose.
