The five types of senior living communities

Senior living communities come in many shapes and sizes, and can provide a sense of security, companionship, and community for older adults. In this video, we'll explore the five different types of senior living communities and help you determine which one may be the best fit for you or your loved one.

    Transcript

There are five main types of senior living communities, independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and continuing care retirement communities. Independent living communities offer housing for seniors who are able to live on their own but may want access to social activities, transportation, and other services. Assisted living communities provide seniors assistance with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, and medication management. Memory care communities specialize in providing care for seniors with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. Skilled nursing facilities offer round-the-clock medical care for seniors who may need more intensive support. And continuing care retirement communities offer a range of living options, including independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care, allowing seniors to move between levels of care as their needs change.
