      About Indian River Colony Club

Indian River Colony Club is a 55+ active adult community made for retired military and those who want a country club lifestyle, sitting on 453 acres with about 800 single-family homes, and every house has two to four bedrooms, most of them offering lake or golf course views, and the place has always been owned by its members with a General Manager running the day-to-day and a resident board making decisions. The community has 24-hour gated security with entrance gates guarded day and night, a guard house, and patrols that bring peace of mind, and you'll see the American flag flying at the entry. The place is a military retirement community, so military families get discounts, and patriotic groups meet regularly, including military history and Society of Blue Badge meetings, along with annual Grand Military balls in Colony Hall, which is their big activity center where they have events, dances, chapel, meetings, and even weddings for up to 300 guests. They've never had special monetary assessments in over 30 years, and homes are priced to compete with other places for value.

There's a maintenance program run by on-site staff that covers pretty much everything, with help inside and outside like fixing roofs, HVAC, major appliances, yardwork, tree trimming, sprinklers, trash, laundry, housekeeping, and even preventative checkups, so you don't have to worry about upkeep. You get a maintenance-free way of living but still own your own home, which a lot of people like as they age. The streets thread through beautiful landscaping, with golf cart paths, walking trails, ponds, and a lot of wildlife, so it feels relaxed and green everywhere you look.

The key feature is the golf course-a full 18-hole, par 72 course designed by Gordon G. Lewis in 1986, stretching over 6,600 yards with a slope of 127, and the course is well-kept, with different tee boxes for all levels, no metal spikes allowed, and a dress code for proper attire. There's an aqua driving range, two putting greens, practice bunkers, and a Pro Shop selling gear, lessons, and rentals, plus carts and clubs for folks who don't have their own, and even non-residents can join as golf or social members. The At Ease Club is the main clubhouse, with a dining room, a lounge called the 19th Hole with regular happy hours, white linen dining, and take-out, all prepared by their executive chef; Sunday brunch, weekday lunches and dinners, and event catering are available, and there's always something going on socially with more than 60 groups, everything from quilting and bridge to a theater group called the Cart Barn Players, art classes, computer clubs, a rifle and pistol club, and even a chorus.

For those who like to keep busy, there are tennis courts, bocce, shuffleboard, croquet, horseshoe pits, paved paths for walking and jogging, over 20 stocked ponds for fishing bass, tilapia, or catfish, and a 3,000 sq. ft. heated pool with lap lanes, aqua exercise, and a renovated fitness center with all-new cardio and strength equipment, plus locker rooms. If you have an RV or guests visiting, there's on-site storage, a dump station, wash facilities, and short-term spots with water and electricity. The place serves residents' practical needs too, like transportation, healthcare services, real estate help, and even specialized home listings and floor plans.

Indian River Colony Club holds special events in its venues with lake or golf views, like banquets, weddings, corporate meetings, and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, with Wi-Fi and catering included. The staff aims to keep events and daily life running smoothly, and Colony Hall's newly renovated ballroom is often picked for gatherings. The atmosphere is friendly but patriotic, with unique touches throughout like lobbies with comfortable seating and patriotic décor, elegant event spaces, and beautiful, well-kept grounds. So the whole community's built for older adults who want a safe home, no maintenance hassles, activities, and a place with a lot of fellow veterans and folks who enjoy a country club setting.
