      Excellent dementia care, highly recommended

I'm very happy with the care my mom receives at this dementia-focused community - the aides and staff are fantastic, attentive, and actively try to engage her. The place is spotless and odor-free, secure, with a nice dining area; the food looks, smells, and tastes great with lots of variety. It's a wonderful location with programs tailored to individual needs, staff go above and beyond, her condition has improved, and I highly recommend it (five stars).

      Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers consistently highlight the quality and attentiveness of the caregiving staff, describing aides as "fantastic," very aware, and willing to go above and beyond. Families report measurable improvements in their loved ones and emphasize that staff actively try to engage residents, including those with dementia or age-related cognitive challenges. Multiple reviewers explicitly recommend the community and note high overall satisfaction, with at least one review indicating a five-star-level experience and no major complaints.

Facility and environment receive uniformly favorable comments. The community is described as very clean and spotless, with no offensive odors. Common spaces are noted as pleasant and roomy — reviewers mention a nice dining area and a large living room — and the property is secure, with locked access appropriate for dementia care. Two similar buildings on site were observed by one reviewer, suggesting consistent standards across different parts of the campus. The location is called "wonderful," reinforcing the community’s appeal beyond care quality alone.

Dining and daily programming are also strengths. Reviewers report good, varied food that both looks and smells appealing, and they appreciate that meal options are plentiful. In addition to dining, the community offers programs tailored to individual needs; several comments indicate that activities and engagement strategies are adjusted to meet residents’ cognitive and social requirements, which is particularly important in a dementia-focused setting.

Care specifics show both strengths and a few areas for attention. The community is characterized as dementia-focused and attentive, with staff making efforts to engage residents who require more interaction. However, a recurring concern is that some residents — for example, one reviewer’s mother — require more one-on-one attention due to advanced age-related cognitive decline. While reviewers note staff are trying to engage these residents and that improvements have been observed, the comments imply that very high-acuity needs may demand additional individualized attention compared with the baseline level of care provided.

Patterns across reviews point to a reliable, well-run community with an emphasis on cleanliness, safety, compassionate staff, and good dining. The only consistent caveats are related to resident acuity: families of individuals with more severe cognitive or behavioral needs should confirm staffing and one-on-one engagement plans during their touring and intake conversations. One reviewer mentioned the community was their second choice, which suggests that while the facility meets or exceeds expectations for most families, preferences or comparisons with other options do occur. In summary, Promises Five Palms is portrayed as an excellent, dementia-focused community with strong staff, well-maintained facilities, appealing dining, and programs that address individual needs, with a modest but important note that some residents may require extra personalized attention.

      About Promises Five Palms

Promises Five Palms sits in Ormond Beach, Florida, in a home-like setting with a large backyard where people can get some sunlight or just a little quiet outside, and the place is known for being both comfortable and practical for all kinds of folks, including seniors, with different levels of care from assisted living to memory care if that's needed, and you'll see they work hard to keep the environment safe for older folks with helpful features built into the buildings. The place offers a range of treatment programs for mental health and addiction, covering both short-term stays in a residential setting and a longer path with outpatient care, intensive outpatient, and even partial hospitalization programs, so someone can have help that fits how much support they're looking for whether it's day-to-day or just checking in once in a while.

They're licensed and certified by the state's substance abuse and mental health departments and have accreditation by The Joint Commission, so you know they keep up with strict rules and focus on safety and quality. Their staff uses several modern therapy methods, like cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, anger management, group sessions, and several trauma-informed approaches, including art and music therapy, so they're used to helping people who've had a hard time or who live with complicated health issues. They offer medication-assisted treatments for substance use like buprenorphine (both with and without naloxone) and naltrexone, plus medications and support for folks wanting to quit smoking or who deal with alcohol dependence, and there's always medical supervision to keep people safe during detox for alcohol, opioids, benzos, cocaine, or meth-if that's what's needed.

Promises Five Palms has special programs for people with both addiction and mental health needs at the same time, and offers dedicated care for men and women, as well as support for people living with trauma, personality disorders, or who need help with issues like anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, and PTSD. The approach is both skills-focused and family-friendly, with options for individual, group, and family therapy, and staff help clients connect to recovery groups, social services, and even keep in touch after they finish their stay through ongoing follow-ups and alumni support. There are designated smoking areas and different lounge wings like Lounge Wing D and C, rooms for meetings or therapy, and spaces-like the Purple Room-for quiet or group activities. Meals are served in a dining room and there's a clinical director's office on site, so someone's always there to oversee care.

Their programs work for adults and young adults, and they accept both men and women. Payment can be made using private health insurance, with many major insurers accepted, or by paying out of pocket. Each resident gets a care plan that aims to fit their situation, including practical help with case management, skills for daily living, and emotional support, and they offer a careful admission process with quick checks on insurance and caring staff who listen without judgment. Promises Five Palms is a private, for-profit organization and part of the Promises Behavioral Health network, and they try to give people whatever level of help they need, making things feel homey but also secure and well-organized.
