Health Care District of Palm Beach County Skilled Nursing Center, also known as the Edward J. Healey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, sits within the Pointe West campus in Riviera Beach and serves the Palm Beach County community with a patient-centered approach that's spanned over 100 years since its original founding in 1917, though the current modern 120-bed facility opened in 2013. This non-profit, tax-supported facility is run and owned by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, and you'll find it recognized for public health contributions, state and national certifications, and several national awards for care quality. The skilled team includes seasoned professionals, an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), and a respiratory therapist, with staff available 24/7, and there are about 12 to 16 hours of direct nursing care every day.
Patients come here for short and long-term rehabilitation, transitional care after hospital stays, and specialized medical support, including skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, wound care, tracheotomy management, intravenous infusion therapy, and bariatric services, and - through the Health Care District - there are also dental services. There's a focus on helping people regain independence, from help with medications and daily personal needs like bathing and dressing, to psychiatric or psychoanalytic support, psychiatric evaluations, case management, counseling, and psychosocial assessments. On-site services cover lab tests, X-rays, EKG, pharmacy, and bladder scanning.
The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center features rooms that are private or shared, all furnished and including air conditioning, private bathrooms, phones, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and kitchenettes, letting residents settle in comfortably whether their stay is short or a bit longer. Meals are prepared by a professional chef who works closely with a Registered Dietitian to accommodate all special diets, and extra touches such as laundry, housekeeping, dry-cleaning, move-in coordination, and concierge help make things easier for families. Residents have transportation and parking, and the staff helps with community re-entry evaluations for folks heading back home.
There's always something to do with daily activities, movie nights, music programs, art activities, fitness classes, and resident-run activities, along with entertainment, trips, a movie theater, arts room, outdoor spaces like gardens, and common areas. General counseling, family support, and concierge services are included. The Center accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay, but all admissions must meet eligibility as residents of Palm Beach County. Services are provided in English. The Skilled Nursing Center remains committed to giving each person compassionate, high-quality care in a calm and supportive place.
