    About Twin Oaks Convalescent Center

Twin Oaks Convalescent Center sits right beside Bacon County Hospital in Alma, Georgia, and has helped the community since becoming part of the Bacon County Hospital and Health System in 1990. This not-for-profit nursing home takes care of people who need skilled nursing, intermediate care for those who are very frail, and offers short-term rehabilitation between hospital and home if a person isn't ready to manage alone yet. Twin Oaks has 88 beds and is licensed by the State of Georgia, and if someone needs emergency help, being attached to the hospital makes things easier. They have twenty-eight single occupancy rooms with private bathrooms, and the building itself has been updated, offering modern nursing stations and a rehabilitation area with new furniture and state-of-the-art equipment. Folks who stay here benefit from a busy activity program, furnished chapel for services and meetings, a special room for families who need to be with loved ones in their final days, and in-house dental and podiatry care. There's a licensed beautician who gives haircuts at no cost to residents, and people can get speech, occupational, and physical therapy, whether their stay is short or long, and there's also help with nutrition and pharmacy services. Medicare and Medicaid are accepted. A resident council and a family council help give people a voice in what goes on. This facility doesn't have a CCRC, but folks find strong support here. In 2021, Twin Oaks earned the Bronze Award based on the Baldrige Criteria, had a deficiency-free state inspection that year, and its most recent inspection reports show no deficiencies or complaints, which is pretty rare. Assessment grades included an overall A- and an A+ for inspections, so most people think the care's very good, and the staff prioritize the well-being of the people they serve.
