    Clean rooms caring staff inconsistent

I lived here and appreciated the clean, plain rooms and several caring staff and an engaged management team, but my experience was mixed. Chronic understaffing led to delayed care and poor showering, food was inconsistent (often bad), bathrooms and common areas sometimes smelled of urine, and I noticed hygiene lapses and weight loss/low-protein concerns. Communication and broken amenities were frustrating; it's a decent place with real positives, but it needs fixes-recommend with reservations.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews for Cambridge Care and Rehabilitation are notably mixed, with distinct praise for clinical care, dining, room cleanliness, and management from some families and concurrent operational concerns raised by others. The pattern suggests that while the facility can and does deliver positive experiences for certain residents, there are recurring operational weaknesses that prospective residents and families should investigate further.

Care and staff: Several accounts highlight attentive clinical care and courteous staff interactions. At the same time, there are clear concerns about staffing levels and responsiveness that appear to affect daily care routines. Reported issues include delays in attending to resident needs, inconsistent bathing schedules, and gaps in routine oral care. These items point to staffing and workflow challenges rather than isolated clinical errors; verifying current staffing ratios and the facilityโ€™s protocols for personal-care schedules would be prudent.

Dining and nutrition: Dining impressions are polarized. Some families describe high-quality, well-prepared meals, while others report inconsistent meal quality and concerns about nutritional intake that coincided with weight loss and low protein levels for at least one resident. This suggests variability in food preparation or in the monitoring of residentsโ€™ nutritional status. Prospective families should request recent menus, dietitian involvement, weight-monitoring practices, and how the facility addresses unintended weight loss.

Facilities, maintenance, and cleanliness: Positive comments about clean rooms coexist with reports of environmental and maintenance issues. Concerns include dim or dated interior ambience, inoperable equipment (televisions, lighting), and odor issues in common areas and bathrooms. These indicate maintenance and environmental-care backlogs rather than uniformly poor housekeeping. Ask to tour multiple types of rooms, inspect common areas at different times of day, and inquire about recent maintenance logs and pest-control or sanitation audits.

Management, communication, and administration: Management receives praise from some families for responsiveness, yet there are consistent notes about communication gaps and administrative delaysโ€”most notably in insurance processing and family updates. Additionally, visitation policies during infection-control events were described as restrictive by at least one family; confirm the facilityโ€™s current visitation protocols, how exceptions are handled, and how families are notified of policy changes.

Notable patterns and recommended next steps: The reviews indicate a bipolar patternโ€”strong positives in care, cleanliness of rooms, and some dining experiences, contrasted with operational weaknesses that affect daily life for other residents. Key follow-up items for prospective residents: verify current staffing levels and turnover, review inspection and maintenance records, ask about nutrition protocols and weight-monitoring, tour the building at different times, and request examples of family communication and insurance/billing support. These steps will help determine whether the facilityโ€™s strengths align with an individual residentโ€™s needs and whether the operational concerns have been addressed.

    About Cambridge Care and Rehabilitation

Cambridge Care And Rehabilitation has a staff that speaks English and takes care of people who need skilled nursing after a hospital stay, illness, or surgery, and they offer both short-term and long-term care for older adults and those with serious health needs, and there's also care for memory loss and help with daily living like bathing, dressing, and medicine. Residents and families can join councils to talk about concerns and try to make things better for everyone, and the community is owned by a for-profit corporation with new ownership in the last year. There are 22 certified beds available in June 2025 out of a total 95 beds in the facility.

There's a dining room with restaurant-style meals prepared by a chef, and people can eat all day long if they want, and they can get meals for diabetes or food allergies, too. The place lets people use Medicaid and Medicare to help pay for care, and residents get services like housekeeping, weekly laundry, move-in help, and support for families, while transportation and parking are provided. Private rooms come furnished with their own bathrooms, kitchenettes, TV, phone, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and outdoor areas, and the staff helps monitor residents with a 24-hour call system and emergency alerts.

Cambridge Care And Rehabilitation gives folks a library, arts and fitness rooms, a spa, group music, a movie theater, daily activities, games, a garden with walking paths, and places to gather outside, as well as family and resident-run activities. The skilled nurses help with things like wound care, cardiac care, IVs, diabetes, hospice, renal care, orthopedic care, and respite services; there's speech and physical therapy departments that work one-on-one or in groups so people can get stronger or talk better, and plans are made just for each person's needs. Residents can get incontinence care, behavioral health help, social services, and discharge planning when it's time to leave. The community isn't part of a larger Continuing Care Retirement Community, but it does have a board of directors, dedicated management, and several staff dedicated to making life safer and more comfortable for the people living there. There are locations listed in both Cambridge, Ohio and Beachwood, Ohio, with Cambridge Long-Term Care being one named facility. The community tries to offer as many activities and support services as possible, and families and residents are encouraged to take part in what's happening at the facility.
