    Spotless facility, compassionate staff, recommended

I placed my loved one here for short-term rehab and was very pleased - the new, spotless facility, compassionate nurses/CNAs, excellent therapists, and friendly, family-friendly staff made visits easy; I would recommend it for rehab or long-term care.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Anniston Health and Rehab Services are highly polarized, with a mix of strong praise for the facility environment and therapy services alongside numerous serious operational concerns. Many commenters highlight a clean, new-looking, and spacious interior, with functioning laundry and housekeeping, comfortable room amenities (large TVs), and an environment that can be suitable for both short-term rehabilitation and longer stays. The therapy program and several individual therapists receive consistent positive feedback; families and former residents frequently note effective physical and occupational therapy and successful short-term recoveries.

Staffing and direct care present a contrasting pattern. Several reviews describe compassionate, attentive nurses and CNAs who provide individualized support and good communication; however, a significant number of reviews raise concerns about inconsistent staffing levels (notably at night), long call-button response times, and variability in staff professionalism. These operational issues are linked to delays in assistance, uneven adherence to care notes, and family distress. There are repeated references to one-to-one positive staff interactions as well as separate accounts of disrespectful or unprofessional conduct; this suggests variability across shifts and individual caregivers rather than a uniformly consistent culture.

Clinical-care themes include praise for skilled rehabilitation, but also serious concerns about wound and skin-care management, pain control during personal care, and management of chronic conditions such as diabetes. Several reviewers described problems with wound treatment and skin integrity, and some reported issues consistent with insufficient hydration or nutrition management. These clinical concerns are often paired with reports of inconsistent adherence to individualized care plans and gaps in nurse supervision or follow-through, which families identified as contributing factors to adverse outcomes.

Dining and daily living services show mixed performance. The facilityโ€™s food service is described in positive terms by some (good food, attentive service), but many reviewers report inconsistent meal quality, problems with meal temperature and timing, and inadequate accommodations for special diets. There are also comments about lost clothing or belongings and occasional failures in handling residentsโ€™ laundry and personal items.

Management and communication are areas of variable performance. Positive accounts mention helpful administrative staff and flexibility for family presence, while negative accounts note poor communication around clinical incidents, limited transparency about billing, and uneven supervisory oversight. Activity programming is another mixed area: some families saw helpful engagement, while others described limited meaningful activities and a โ€œquietโ€ or underpopulated atmosphere.

Overall, the facility shows clear strengths in physical environment, rehabilitation services, and many individual caregivers. At the same time, recurring operational weaknessesโ€”particularly inconsistent staffing, delayed response times, variability in clinical follow-through, meal-service problems, and communication gapsโ€”warrant careful inquiry. Prospective residents and families should consider an in-person tour and ask targeted questions about overnight staffing ratios, call-response metrics, wound-care protocols, diabetes and nutrition management, therapy scheduling and consistency, laundry handling, and billing practices before making placement decisions.

About Anniston Health and Rehab Services

Anniston Health and Rehab Services sits next to Tyler Park on the campus of Anniston's Regional Medical Center and has been part of Noland Health Services, which has served the area since 1913, and the place helps older adults with many different care needs by offering services like independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, long-term care, respite care, and hospice care, and the staff includes certified nurses, licensed medical practitioners, physical therapists, trained nursing assistants, and many other professionals who all focus on helping residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, medication, and getting around, while also managing meals and supporting health needs. The facility uses individual care plans, working with residents and families to do what's best for each person, and it helps people recover from surgery or illness with rehabilitation in a big therapy suite where physical, occupational, and speech therapies happen, all under round-the-clock nursing supervision. The place offers both private and semi-private rooms, fully furnished, with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, air-conditioning, telephones, internet, and cable TV, and every room has a 24-hour call system for safety, plus the building has special systems and secured areas to keep everyone safe, especially folks who have memory conditions or tend to wander. You'll find on-site amenities like a dining room that serves restaurant-style meals, and the kitchen staff uses organic foods and makes diets for people with diabetes or other special needs as guided by a dietitian, and they take care of all the housekeeping and linen needs too. There's a beauty salon, gaming and computer rooms, a wellness center, a library, a garden, and outdoor spaces, and folks can join daily scheduled activities, resident-run clubs, planned day trips, and community events, so there's always something to do. Transportation is available for doctor's visits, errands, or outings, and the community makes sure residents are active and social but also take care in a private, supportive environment. The facility is fully licensed, accepts Medicare and Medicaid, has public Wi-Fi, takes many insurance plans, and offers extra services like pharmacy help, radiology, dental, podiatry, and social work, and the staff always aims to promote recovery and wellness for every resident, especially those needing nursing care or long-term support.
