    Beautiful resort campus, caring staff

I moved in and it was one of my best decisions. Beautiful, resort-like campus with underground parking, gardens, patios and spacious condo/casita options (garages too), plus automatic access to Grand amenities like golf, pools and clubs. Staff are warm, attentive and responsive - maintenance, meals, cleaning and 24/7 care give my family peace of mind. Independent living is active and fun with lectures, outings, parties and many clubs; there's a strong, friendly community. I'm very satisfied and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

The Colonnade presents as an upscale, resort-like senior living option with a broad mix of housing types and extensive social and recreational programming. The campus and units are consistently described as well designed and well maintained: spacious casitas and condos with garages, attractive landscaping, underground parking and gated access contribute to a strong physical environment. Connection to the larger Grand membership expands opportunities for clubs, golf and extra-curriculars, which many prospective residents find valuable.

Activity programming and social life are among the facility's strongest features. Residents and families emphasize an active calendar—fitness classes, lectures, theater and musical outings, frequent day trips, themed parties and regular happy hours—with an engaged activity staff coordinating many offerings. These opportunities, combined with communal spaces such as libraries, billiards rooms, theaters and pools, support a high level of peer interaction and sustained engagement for independent-living residents.

Dining at the Colonnade is described in mixed terms. The facility offers restaurant-style dining with a rotating multi-week menu and multiple entrée choices; some reviewers find the meals very good and the dining venues appealing. At the same time, there is a recurring pattern of inconsistent food-service quality, long waits, limited variety in some stations and constrained flexibility (for example, limited to-go/packaging options). Contract and meal-package details also vary: certain buy-in arrangements include a limited number of complimentary meals per month, which prospective residents should review closely.

Clinical care and staffing present a mixed picture. Many accounts praise friendly, professional frontline staff, hands-on nurses and the availability of on-site assisted living and memory-care services alongside 24/7 EMT coverage. Conversely, there are recurring concerns about staffing shortages, elevated turnover and uneven caregiver responsiveness; some families describe delays or variability in the level of attention. These patterns suggest that day-to-day care quality can fluctuate depending on staffing levels and shift coverage.

Management and operations show both strengths and weaknesses. Some residents highlight responsive leadership and effective issue resolution; others describe inconsistent follow-through from higher-level management, unmet promises and a perception that executive attention can be uneven. Financial and contractual features — including relatively high pricing, nonrefundable buy-ins and additional charges for certain services — are commonly noted and should be clarified during touring and contracting. A further operational consideration is construction and phased amenity delivery in parts of the campus, which can create temporary noise and incomplete facility availability.

Overall, The Colonnade will likely appeal to independent-living candidates who prioritize active social programming, well-appointed residences and access to expansive Grand amenities. Prospective residents and families should schedule an in-person visit focused on current staffing levels, meal-service practices and the specific contract terms for meals, refunds and memory-care transitions. Clarifying those operational details in writing will help align expectations with the facility's strong amenity set and the areas where consistency has been variable.
