    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Feedback emphasizes a warm, well-maintained campus with a strong hospitality focus. Residents and family members commonly describe staff as friendly, punctual, and attentive; many accounts highlight effective rehabilitation services and a model that supports independence in assisted living while providing additional care when needed. The presence of a life-care continuum and opportunities for long-term residency contribute to a sense of security for those planning future needs.

Dining and activities: Dining is frequently praised — multiple restaurants, a generous meal allowance, and positive comments about food quality and service. Social life appears active and varied: the community offers abundant daily and monthly programs, village parties, fitness and pool programming, and substantial arts and maker-space offerings (including studio access and collaborative opportunities). These elements create numerous engagement options for residents with diverse interests and encourage visible resident participation and leadership.

Facilities and operations: Physical plant and grounds receive consistent positive remarks: clean interiors, attractive landscaping, and a range of housing formats from cottages to garden homes and apartments. Move-ins are described as smooth and well-supported. Management is undertaking amenity upgrades in places, which some residents view positively; however, these enhancements can coincide with temporary capacity or reservation needs for popular services and common spaces.

Management and notable patterns of concern: While many reviewers praise staff and leadership responsiveness, there is a recurring pattern of concerns about staff conduct and communication tone, including instances where supervisory interactions were described as brusque or in need of escalation. These comments point to variability in staff professionalism rather than a single operational failure. Prospective residents should ask about staff training, supervision, and the facility’s complaint/escalation procedures. Additionally, visitors should confirm reservation policies for high-demand amenities, review neighborhood access and walkability depending on personal needs, and discuss cost/contract details if affordability is a concern.

Practical guidance for families: Visit during a meal and during peak activity hours to observe staff–resident interactions, meal service, and how popular amenities are scheduled. Ask for details on staffing ratios, how the community handles communication and complaints, reservation policies for dining and recreation, access rules for art and maker spaces, and written information about life-care contracts and fees. These steps will help verify that the community’s many strengths align with a prospective resident’s expectations and practical requirements.

    About Friendship Village of Tempe

Friendship Village Of Tempe sits at 2645 E Southern Ave in Tempe, AZ, and folks around here know it as the East Valley's only Life Care community, which really means it's a place where people can stay as care needs change, so you start with independent living and then move to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation if you need more help, and they call the whole set-up a continuing care retirement community, or CCRC, which is a mouthful but mostly means if you want to stay in one spot as you get older, you can. The campus feels like a friendly spot with a big-family feel-pet-friendly, too, which is nice if you don't want to leave your animal behind-and they offer different living options from apartment homes with their own kitchens, stainless steel appliances, granite counters, and patios, to more supportive living, with staff ready to help with bathing, dressing, and medicine, all while keeping dignity and choices at the center, and you'll find the staff described as helpful, joyful, and kind. The buildings have plenty of light with big windows, modern decor, stylish common rooms, game areas, art studios, and a fitness center, plus there's a pool if you like to swim, and a few dining venues with chef-prepared meals that lean toward healthy, nutritious ingredients, which folks seem to appreciate. Outside, there are patios and places to walk, so you aren't stuck inside if you want fresh air, and they do a good job putting together group activities for almost every interest-art, excursions, brewery trips, and fitness classes, so there's usually something going on if you want to be social, or you can do your own thing. The place has 128 skilled nursing beds and a clinic run by physicians, so if you need help with health issues or rehabilitation, you don't have to travel far, plus general counseling's on hand and primary care as well, and all that adds up to long-term security for people worried about their future care needs. Residents age 62 and up can choose from different floor plans with pricing options, and the independent living side lets you avoid a lot of chores since maintenance is included, and if memory or health problems crop up, they have personalized support. The community puts a lot of effort into making things easy and low-stress, focusing on respect, safety, and letting people live as independently as they can with help when needed, and over the years, families and residents have noticed and given strong reviews, even resulting in awards like the Best of Senior Living All Star Award and another for exceptional care and support. Overall, Friendship Village Of Tempe offers a straightforward mix of independence and support, with a welcoming group of neighbors and staff, and enough choices that most folks can find some comfort and activity, whether you're looking for peace and quiet or something more lively.
