    Warm community with excellent care

I moved my mom here and I'm very pleased - the community is clean, bright and welcoming, the food is excellent, and residents are happy and lively with plenty of activities (music, dancing, chair yoga, Wednesday happy hour and outings). Staff are warm, professional and truly family-like - April and Brittany stood out for clear communication and going above and beyond, and 24-hour nursing/rehab support gave us real peace of mind. Overall a friendly, safe place I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Broadway Proper presents as a large, activity-oriented senior living campus with many strengths in hospitality, social programming, and campus amenities. Reviewers consistently praise the staff’s interpersonal approach — described frequently as compassionate, accessible, and engaged — and name specific Health & Wellness personnel as anchors for medical coordination. The facility offers restaurant-style dining, a varied menu under experienced culinary leadership, numerous indoor and outdoor common areas, heated pool and spa facilities, salon and laundry services, regular visiting specialists, and a broad transportation schedule that supports appointments and social outings.

The life-enrichment program is a clear asset: reviewers describe abundant daily activities (games, exercise classes, musical entertainment, outings to casinos and theaters, and thematic events) and structured fitness programming that includes chair yoga, water aerobics, and personal training. The landscaped grounds, shaded courtyards, walking paths and dog-friendly provisions support outdoor engagement. Apartment variety and the ability to transition from independent to assisted living on campus are additional conveniences for many families.

Despite these strengths, there are consistent operational concerns that prospective residents and families should evaluate. Meal service quality and consistency — including service speed, meal temperature, and availability of menu options at specific service times — is uneven across reports. Housekeeping and maintenance responsiveness are described as inconsistent, and there are intermittent sanitation and cleanliness issues noted. Staffing stability is a recurring theme: high turnover and periodic shortages have been linked to slower dining service, delayed maintenance, and variable direct-care responsiveness.

Clinical and safety-related patterns warrant particular attention. Several accounts describe delayed medication administration and timing/documentation gaps; combined with limitations in on-site skilled nursing and memory-care capacity, these patterns suggest the community is better suited for residents who require minimal to moderate assistance rather than continuous skilled clinical oversight. Families concerned about progressive cognitive impairment or complex medical needs should confirm supervision levels, transfer protocols, and access to higher-level care before committing.

Management and administrative consistency are mixed. Many reviews commend individual staff and life-enrichment leadership for responsiveness, while other comments cite variable management communication, billing and admissions paperwork errors, deposit/refund disputes, and periodic fee increases. Physical-plant issues such as a sometimes-confusing layout, elevator capacity or outages, and constrained pickup/drop-off and parking areas have been raised and may affect mobility and daily logistics.

In sum, Broadway Proper appears to offer a lively, socially rich environment with strong hospitality, varied programming, and attractive grounds. It may be an excellent fit for active older adults who value dining, activities, and community engagement and who require limited clinical oversight. Prospective residents with advancing dementia or complex medical needs, or families seeking uniform operational consistency, should probe medical staffing levels, medication-management protocols, housekeeping standards, fee schedules, and mealtime operations during a tour and by reviewing contracts and staffing ratios. A careful in-person visit—observing mealtime flow, staff-resident interactions, cleanliness, and administrative responsiveness—will help determine whether the community’s strengths align with an individual’s care requirements and family expectations.

About Broadway Proper Assisted & Senior Living

Broadway Proper Assisted & Senior Living sits in Tucson, Arizona, and serves seniors looking for independent living, assisted living, and memory care in a comfortable setting. The community welcomes adults aged 55 and older and offers both studios and one- or two-bedroom apartments with accessible features like walk-in showers, grab bars, and full kitchens with stainless steel appliances, so folks can have what they need under one roof, including safety, comfort, and a bit of style if that suits them. Each apartment has individually controlled heat and air, and there are same-day maintenance responses and weekly housekeeping and linen service to help residents with daily routines.

There's a lot of focus on daily living support, which includes help with bathing, dressing, medication management, and assistance with transfers when it's needed, so no one needs to feel they have to do it all alone, and if folks want to live independently at first but need more help later, they can add on assisted living services without having to move to a new apartment. Nursing staff is available for 12-16 hours a day, and there's a 24-hour call system to help keep everyone safe and connected at all times of the day or night.

Residents find friendly staff who aim to be accommodating and approachable, and the Stellar Senior Living team coordinates activities and social events, including daily exercise classes and weekly excursions, all with a full-time concierge organizing things. There's a heated pool and an exercise room where residents can enjoy group fitness or relax, and then outside, a landscaped courtyard and an urban backyard patio provide plenty of space to sit in the sun or chat with neighbors, all set against nice desert and mountain views. A shuffleboard court, garden area, and resort-like poolside loungers give more options for staying active or just enjoying the air.

Dining takes place in a bright room with a piano and large windows, while a self-serve bistro keeps coffee and snacks handy if neighbors want to sit and visit. There's an inviting salon and barber shop for grooming, private transportation in an accessible van for errands or appointments, and a family advisory team to help families understand all support options and choices for care, so no one has to make decisions alone. This pet-friendly community recognizes the value of four-legged friends and allows them, and there's Wi-Fi throughout the building and handicap-accessible amenities to make things comfortable for all.

The location, being close to Udall Park, St. Joseph's Hospital, and area shops, means medical care and recreation are easy to get to, and thoughtful features like laundry rooms, library, and comfortable common areas show the focus on supporting both independence and social life, whether that's through music, meals, or simple conversation in the desert sun.
