I moved my mom here and I'm very pleased. The staff are kind, attentive and professional - Lourdes and Debra are clearly committed - and the building is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Apartments are spacious with safe features, meals are restaurant-style, and there are plenty of activities and outings; the location is convenient and the price is very good. My mom is happy and social, and I feel she's in excellent hands.

Summary of reviews
Overall impression: Reviews of Arcadia Retirement Village are mixed, with a substantial number of families praising the staff interactions, value, and range of programming, while others describe operational challenges that may affect day‑to‑day resident experience. Strengths most consistently cited include friendly caregiving staff, spacious apartments, accessible common areas, and an active calendar of social and creative events. Price and perceived value are commonly reported as positives, and the facility’s location near shopping and services is noted as convenient.
Care and staffing: Many accounts emphasize compassionate, attentive caregivers who know residents and provide meaningful interpersonal support. At the same time, a recurrent pattern concerns staffing stability and training: reviewers describe turnover, understaffing, and variable supervisory oversight. These patterns are associated with longer waits for assistance at times and inconsistent adherence to routine care tasks. Prospective residents and families should confirm current staffing ratios, training programs, and on‑site clinical coverage during a visit, since the facility does not appear to maintain 24/7 nursing or physician presence.
Dining: Dining receives both praise and criticism. Several reviewers describe restaurant‑style, gourmet meals and residents who look forward to lunch, while others report inconsistent meal quality, cold plates, or service delays. Dining‑room crowding and occasional long waits were also mentioned. Observing a mealtime during a tour will give a clearer sense of service flow, portioning, and food temperature consistency.
Activities and social life: The community offers a broad range of activities — craft classes, resident art and fashion shows, dance groups, gardening demonstrations, bird watching, board games, and regular outings to nearby stores and medical appointments. These offerings contribute to an engaged resident culture for many. However, some reviewers noted limited or irregular outing schedules and instances of resident isolation linked to changes in common‑area availability or staffing constraints.
Facilities and maintenance: Physical accommodations are often described as roomy, accessible, and comfortable, with safety features like grab bars and intercoms. Several reviews specifically cite clean common areas, hardwood floors, and well‑kept dining spaces. Conversely, others report a decline in housekeeping quality, deferred maintenance, heating adjustments, and slow response to repair requests. Prospective residents should inspect apartments, communal bathrooms, and recent maintenance work to gauge current conditions.
Management and business practices: While some families compliment specific administrators and marketing staff for responsiveness, there are recurring concerns about management turnover, communication lapses, and ownership decisions perceived as cost‑driven (e.g., amenity reductions or extra charges). Several comments point to unclear fee policies and occurrences of nonrefundable or unexpected charges. Given these patterns, it is advisable to review the residency agreement carefully, clarify all fees in writing, and ask about recent ownership or management changes.
Recommendation for prospective families: Arcadia appears to offer strong social programming, approachable staff members, and good value for many residents, but operational variability around staffing, maintenance, meal consistency, and management transparency is notable. When considering this community, arrange multiple visits (including a mealtime), speak with current residents and family members, request documentation on staffing levels and clinical oversight, and obtain a detailed, written fee schedule and maintenance/housekeeping standards.

About Arcadia Retirement Village
Arcadia Retirement Village sits in Arcadia, CA and takes in both men and women aged 55 and older, offering independent living and assisted living options, which means folks can get the care they need as their needs change over time, and you'll find nurses and staff available around the clock, including help from trained aides who provide both companionship and non-medical care, and staff help with bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring, medication, and special care for things like diabetes, incontinence, and more difficult moving around, plus staff can remind and residents to meals or activities, and laundry, housekeeping, and daily bed making are all included, so no extra chores are needed. The rooms, whether private or shared, each have a patio or balcony and views, and wheelchair-accessible showers and tubs, plus you can decorate the rooms however you like, and bring your cat or dog since pets are welcome, which can be a big comfort, and if you ever need hospice or short-term respite care, those options are there too. The place is big, open, and home-like, with plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to relax or visit, like patios and garden paths, plus there's a library, beauty and barber shop, and a wellness center offering yoga, physical therapy, massage, and even Wii Fit, and the music lounge and fitness center are handy too, and with transportation services on site, with both complimentary rides and scheduled outings, folks can get to doctor's appointments or errands, and the community connects well with bus lines. Meals happen three times daily in a restaurant style dining area with a snack bar open around the clock, and the meals, planned by chefs, can handle special diets, like low salt or reduced sweets, and there's even vegetarian dishes, with snacks and drinks always ready. Activities fill the calendar, with exercise, music, bingo afternoons, happy hours, and social events, and there's "Family Night" to encourage visits, plus devotional services both on and off site, and staff help people join in if they want. Memory care is available, with programs to help residents who have dementia or Alzheimer's stay safe and comfortable, and care plans fit each resident's needs, so heavier and lighter care is possible, including care for non-ambulatory residents and those with bowel incontinence, and the staff can monitor blood sugar but don't inject insulin. The community gets high marks for friendliness, dining, and activities, and residents say the staff are warm and attentive, and the environment's safe. Costs include a one-time community fee and monthly charges based on care level, with payment options covering private pay, social security, veterans' benefits, and some private insurance, and the village is fully accredited and licensed by the State of California's Department of Social Services as an RCFE, so it meets all the state requirements for a retirement community. The move-in process covers transportation and paperwork help. With the variety of care levels and services, residents can age in place and keep their friends, pets, and routines for as long as they want.
