    Friendly staff beautiful grounds homey

I'm totally satisfied. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and professional - they treated me like royalty and made the transition easy. The park-like grounds and spacious, well-laid-out apartment (full kitchen, covered balcony) feel like home; the food is phenomenal with great variety and buffets, there are plentiful activities and shuttle service, and weekly cleaning/bed-making keeps everything tidy. I would highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive: Oaks of Pasadena is repeatedly described as an elegant, park-like senior living community with well-maintained grounds, spacious apartments, and a wide range of amenities. Many reviewers emphasize the beauty of the campus — green spaces, walking paths, and a lake — and consistently call the atmosphere serene and upscale. Apartments are frequently praised for being roomy, having full kitchens or kitchenettes, covered balconies or large patios, generous storage, and sometimes extras like gas fireplaces and optional upgrades.

Care quality and staff performance are dominant themes in the praise. Most reviewers describe staff as friendly, extremely helpful, professional, and attentive. Several specific staff roles receive positive mentions — concierge, activities coordinator, and sales coordinator — and multiple reviewers say the staff made transitions into the community easy. There are many comments noting that staff go out of their way to please residents, provide personal attention, and treat residents with respect. A few reviews specifically call the care “spectacular” and indicate they would refer the community to others.

Dining is another consistently positive area. Reviews highlight a fabulous chef, outstanding and varied meals, monthly buffets, and menu customization. The traditional dining room experience is appreciated, and reviewers note that lunch and other meals are delicious. Meal service details such as weekly apartment cleaning (including sheets and towels washed and beds made) are frequently mentioned as conveniences that improve daily life.

Facilities and amenities receive high marks. In addition to the dining and apartment features, the property offers a swimming pool, jacuzzi, fitness and entertainment options, and numerous social events. The campus is described as having a wide range of activities and events for residents, fostering friendships among people in the same age group. On-site services such as shuttle transportation are reported as helpful. Overall, reviewers depict a community that supports independence while making assistance available as needed.

Activities and social life are generally described as robust. Multiple reviewers praised the activities coordinator and the variety of programming and events. Residents report finding new friends and enjoying monthly events and buffets. That said, a recurring but less frequent comment is a desire for “more active programs” — indicating while programming is good for many, a subset of residents would like additional or more vigorous activities.

Management, move-in process, and third-party experiences are largely favorable. Several reviewers compliment the sales and move-in staff for making transitions smooth and for providing helpful information. Place for Mom representatives are mentioned positively, suggesting outside advisors find the community reliable. The community’s responsiveness, concierge service, and shuttle all contribute to a positive operational impression.

Notable concerns are limited but important to acknowledge. A small number of reviews describe negative staff interactions — terms like unpleasant, nasty, or officious were used in isolated accounts where a staff member’s conduct during a short visit left a poor impression. These reports appear rare compared with the overwhelming positive comments about staff, but they suggest variance in service experience and are worth addressing or investigating. Cost is another explicit concern: one reviewer states the community is “out of price range,” indicating that while amenities and service quality are high, affordability may be an issue for some prospective residents.

In summary, Oaks of Pasadena is portrayed as a high-quality, upscale senior living community with excellent dining, beautiful grounds, spacious living units, and generally outstanding staff and services. Most reviewers are very satisfied — many would recommend the community, highlight the care and professionalism of staff, and praise the lifestyle and social opportunities. Prospective residents should be aware of occasional negative interpersonal experiences reported by a few visitors and consider cost as a potential barrier. For most reviewers, the combination of campus beauty, strong dining program, helpful staff, and thoughtful services makes Oaks of Pasadena a highly recommended option for independent seniors seeking an active, comfortable, and well-supported living environment.

There's a heated swimming pool and hot tub, water aerobics classes, and plenty of outdoor space with walking paths, gardens, and patios where you can sit or stroll.

The Oaks puts on a busy calendar of events led by a full-time Activities Coordinator, with social, educational, and music groups, offsite trips, art, exercise classes-including Tai Chi and water aerobics-English and Spanish language programs, book time in the library, and computer access. Rooms at The Retreat provide round-the-clock care and a warm setting for those who need more help or memory care, with special attention for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia to prevent confusion and wandering. Onsite health services include hospice and 24-hour medical supervision. Other features include a beauty and barber shop, spa, religious services, story time, guest accommodations for overnight family, and an arts and crafts studio. Independent living apartments come with assigned parking, complimentary laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance services, so folks can enjoy a more active lifestyle without doing chores.
