    Gorgeous clean community, attentive staff

My mom has lived here long-term and I'm very happy with the decision. The community is gorgeous, impeccably clean and feels like home - staff are warm, professional and truly attentive (special thanks to Cindy and the team), residents are engaged with excellent meals and nonstop activities. The location and hotel-like amenities are top-notch, but it's expensive, some rooms are small with limited closet space and outdoor greenery is sparse; occasional understaffing/maintenance hiccups. Overall we feel safe, well cared for, and would highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Sunrise of Beverly Hills are overwhelmingly positive, with recurring praise for the quality of care, the compassion and attentiveness of staff, and a broad array of amenities and programming. Most reviewers describe a luxury, hotel-like environment with highly engaged caregiving teams who treat residents like family. Common themes include excellent medication management and clinical oversight, strong social and activity programming, gourmet dining, and a clean, well-maintained facility in a very convenient Westside/Beverly Hills location.

Care quality and staff: The strongest and most consistent praise centers on the staff — caregivers, wellness teams, and managers are repeatedly described as caring, professional, attentive, and often going "above and beyond." Names of specific staff (for example Cindy, Sam, Nancy, Rita, Bonnie, Beth Rayman, Aurora and others) appear in multiple accounts as helpful, responsive, and instrumental during intake or transitions. Reviewers note staff know residents by name, provide compassionate emotional and physical support, and foster meaningful connections. Clinical strength is emphasized: excellent medication management, frequent medical communication, and availability of medical specialists (doctors/psychologists/neurologists) were highlighted. Memory-care programming (Reminiscence) receives praise for safety and loving environment and for facilitating family connection (support for FaceTime and outdoor visits). Smooth transitions from assisted living to memory care and hospice support are also cited positively.

Facilities and amenities: Reviewers frequently call the physical plant upscale and well-maintained. Common areas — the dining room, lounges, movie theater, patios and an attractive rooftop courtyard in memory care — are well-liked and described as comfortable and well furnished. Many reviewers note roomy suites and attractive finishes in several units; others mention that some rooms are smaller with limited closet space. The location is repeatedly identified as a selling point: close to shopping, cultural destinations and, in some references, scenic ocean views. Cleanliness and upkeep earn consistent compliments; long-tenured staff and low turnover are cited as contributing to consistent standards.

Dining and culinary services: Dining is a standout strength in the reviews. Many describe the food as gourmet-quality, nutritious, with multiple entrée options, good portions and snacks between meals. Dining staff are frequently called out as exceptional, and the dining room atmosphere is described as lively and social. Some remarks indicate a desire for small operational improvements (for example, on-floor kitchens lacking condiments in memory-care areas, or missing in-room refrigerators in some units), but overall the culinary program is viewed very positively.

Activities and social life: Programming is extensive and varied, and reviewers repeatedly praise the calendar — yoga, exercise classes, musical performances, art classes, lectures, outings, flower arranging, pet visits, scenic rides, volunteer engagement and intergenerational activities. The community is described as vibrant and socially engaging, helping residents form friendships and enjoy enriched days. A few reviewers found activities repetitive or wanted more hands-on crafts/sculpture sessions, but the dominant impression is of an active, stimulating program that keeps residents engaged and improving function.

Management, admissions and family communication: Admissions and management staff receive strong accolades for responsiveness, compassionate communication and facilitation of move-ins. Several reviewers highlight expedited move-ins, assistance with furniture and a welcoming intake experience. Families report being kept informed and supported, and leadership presence (named directors and managers) is perceived as a positive influence. There are a few mentions of specific negative management interactions (one reviewer cited distress caused by a named manager), and a small number of reviews report billing issues, perceived nickel-and-diming or unwanted marketing (spam emails related to placement agencies). These appear to be minority experiences but are notable as points of variance.

Concerns and variability: The most consistent concern across reviews is cost: Sunrise of Beverly Hills is frequently described as expensive or high-priced, with multiple reviewers noting it is a premium option that may be out of range for some families. Staffing levels are another recurrent concern — though most praise staff, several reviews mention understaffing at times (especially evenings and weekends) and limited nursing coverage during off-hours. Operational hiccups are occasional: maintenance or housekeeping lapses, some small unit deficiencies (closet space, small rooms, missing in-room refrigerators), and culinary/service logistics on specific floors. While the majority of experiences are glowing, there are a few serious negative outliers describing poor care, dirty rooms, unresponsive management, or welfare checks; these accounts contrast sharply with the larger positive set and should be considered when assessing risk tolerance.

Overall assessment and patterns: The dominant pattern is a high-quality, well-resourced assisted living and memory-care community with strong clinical oversight, highly praised staff, rich programming, and excellent dining — all set within a luxury, Westside location. Families repeatedly report peace of mind, improved resident mood, and meaningful social engagement. Trade-offs commonly noted are high cost and occasional operational or staffing constraints. For prospective families, Sunrise of Beverly Hills presents as a top-tier option where you generally "get what you pay for": outstanding staff and amenities, but with the caveat to confirm staffing patterns for nights/weekends, unit sizes/storage, and any extra fees. Also worth investigating are specific memory-care operational details (kitchen access, room configuration) and any recent management concerns to ensure the community continues to meet expectations consistently.

    About Sunrise of Beverly Hills

Sunrise of Beverly Hills stands as a mid-rise building with many options for seniors who need different levels of care, and they've got rooms you can pick from like studios, suites, 1-bedrooms, or even 2-bedroom apartments, and some even have private balconies if you want to step outside and get some fresh air, and the whole place is pet-friendly too, so folks who like having a cat or a small dog around will feel right at home. The place has an elegant restaurant-style dining room and several bistros where chefs prepare meals focused on nutrition, making sure residents get meals that help support vitamins and minerals, and you'll see fresh flowers set out throughout common areas which really brightens the place up. Their outdoor courtyards and gardens are well kept and give you a nice quiet space if you want to sit in the sun or enjoy the plants, and they've got indoor spaces like a main lobby, cozy sitting rooms, and activity centers where people like to gather for games, music, or just good conversation.

There's a lot offered here when it comes to care, so you see everything from independent living for people who don't need much help, all the way to assisted living and skilled nursing, plus memory care and hospice care if people's needs change over time, and they've got special programs too, like the Reminiscence Program and the Terrace Club for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, with staff who are patient and trained to give safety and support all day and night. For seniors recovering from illness or surgery, respite care is available on a short-term basis, and they also have Dignity Home Care if someone wants a bit of extra help right in their residence. Staff roles are pretty clear-there's a Resident Care Director making sure residents get the attention they need, along with coordinators, directors, and ambassadors who help run activities, welcome new faces, and keep the place running smoothly.

Fitness and recreation programs are a regular part of life here, so if folks want to stay active or join in group classes they can, and transportation services are available for doctor visits, shopping trips, or leisure outings. People seem happy, and every day brings some kind of social, educational, or entertainment activity, so there's usually something going on, whether that's a card game, movie, or a pet visiting the common area. The community itself presents an inviting and warm kind of comfort, with home-like architecture and places to relax both inside and outside, and care gets tailored based on what each resident truly wants and needs, backed by years of experience and aging research. There's an emphasis on support-not just for residents, but for families too-with counselors who can help talk about planning, finances, and making a move, so new residents settle in as smoothly as possible.

Over the past 35 years, Sunrise of Beverly Hills has focused on building a safe and welcoming community with all sorts of amenities to make daily life easier, and reviews from residents and families usually mention the friendly staff, the clean surroundings, and the respect shown to everyone living there, and you'll often notice staff members who smile, greet people by name, and do their best to help residents keep their independence and dignity, whatever their individual needs might be.
