    Bright, social, pricey but excellent

I moved my mom here - the building is bright, hotel-like, beautifully landscaped and in a great Westwood location. Staff are warm, professional and attentive; the activities, lectures, dining and excellent gym keep residents engaged and social, and my mom is happy and made friends. Apartments and common areas are nice and well maintained, though I noticed occasional odor/cleanliness issues and some accessibility concerns. It's expensive with extra fees and occasional billing/admin problems, but care and programming are excellent if you can afford it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews of Belmont Village Senior Living Westwood are predominantly positive about the facility’s physical assets, dining, programming and overall safety, but repeatedly flag cost, apartment size and administrative issues as the principal downsides. A large proportion of reviewers praise the community as upscale, clean, modern and hotel-like, with an excellent location in Westwood/Wilshire close to UCLA, shopping, restaurants and places of worship. Many family members and residents describe attentive caregivers and nursing staff, strong social opportunities, and robust activities and wellness programming that help residents form friendships and stay engaged.

Facility and location: Readers consistently highlight the building’s impressive design, bright open architecture, large common rooms, lots of windows and attractive landscaping. Amenities are comprehensive: a movie theater, library, computer room, cafe-style dining, well-equipped gym, pool (with lift), and on-site physical therapy. The Westwood/Wilshire location is repeatedly mentioned as a major advantage — close to UCLA Medical Center, Century City and retail/restaurant options — though reviewers also note the busy street and hilly terrain can make outdoor walking less feasible for some residents.

Care quality and staff: Care and staff receive widespread praise. Many reviews call staff warm, caring, professional and attentive; several single out the concierge and dining/kitchen staff by name for exceptional service. Memory care services (Circle of Friends) and dementia care are called out positively, and families report that residents became more active and socially engaged after moving in. However, this overall praise is tempered by recurring reports of inconsistent experiences: some reviewers describe staff as overbearing, others raise concerns about high staff turnover, instances of poor care coordination, and occasional lapses in responsiveness from specific administrative personnel.

Dining and programming: Food quality is one of the strongest/most consistent positives — a professional chef, healthy menu options, and satisfying portions are noted across many reviews. Activities are described as varied and plentiful (lectures, exercise classes, arts, live music and special interest classes), with good ties to UCLA for guest speakers. Residents and family members frequently credit the social programming with boosting mood and fostering friendships.

Rooms, value and costs: The biggest recurring negatives concern cost and unit sizes. Multiple reviewers call out very high monthly pricing (examples cited include $9,100/mo, $7,275 for certain two-bedroom rates, and reports that add-ons can push total monthly costs to $12–14K). Several reviewers say the apartments are among the smallest floor plans seen in comparable communities; descriptions include tiny living areas, small bedrooms, linoleum flooring, and some cabinetry that feels inexpensive. Combined with high move-in fees, add-on charges (laundry, doctor rides, etc.), billing errors and monthly price increases, many families express that the value-for-cost is questionable.

Operations, administration and maintenance issues: Administrative and operational concerns appear regularly: business office unresponsiveness, billing mistakes, price increases, and alleged misleading information about room availability or wait lists. Maintenance and cleanliness are mostly praised, but scattered reports cite floor dirt, periodic odors, and a poorly maintained pool or uninviting outdoor areas. A minority of reviewers reported medication or coordination errors, and some noted safety/accessibility issues in common areas where walkers and wheelchairs can create hazards.

Tone and fit: There is a clear pattern that Belmont Village Westwood will strongly appeal to families and residents looking for a modern, upscale, full-service community with excellent dining, robust programming and proximity to city amenities. The community is frequently described as luxury hotel-like; some residents and families love that atmosphere, while others find it less homelike or even a bit snobby/exclusive. The deciding factors for prospective families are likely to be budget, tolerance for smaller apartment footprints, and preference for a luxury/hotel-style environment versus a more homey, lower-cost option.

Bottom line recommendation: Belmont Village Westwood scores highly on facility quality, dining, activities and clinical/memory-care capabilities and earns many heartfelt endorsements from families and residents. However, prospective residents should budget for the high ongoing costs and extra fees, verify billing and move-in policies, carefully inspect available floor plans for size and finishes, and ask specific questions about staffing stability and care coordination. For families who can afford the premium and prioritize amenities, location and programming, Belmont Village is a strong choice; for those on a tighter budget or seeking larger, more homelike apartments, it may not provide the best value.
