A Family of Care was founded from a deep, personal experience of supporting loved ones through the challenges of aging. Several years ago, Kathleen and her husband, Mark, welcomed Kathleen’s mother, Eileen, into their home when she was facing diagnoses of dementia and diabetes, as well as personal struggles with low engagement in life. Through their commitment to learning and providing attentive, compassionate support, Eileen’s health and social wellbeing notably improved. This transformative journey inspired Kathleen and Mark to extend the same peaceful and nurturing environment to other seniors, fostering a place where residents are treated with the same warmth and respect as their own family.
At the heart of A Family of Care is the belief that each resident deserves dignity, kindness, and a sense of belonging every single day. Mark and Kathleen are actively involved in the day-to-day care, ensuring they know each individual's needs and interests while providing a home filled with love and attentive care. The welcoming atmosphere extends throughout the home, which is designed to be bright, inviting, and comfortable, embodying the values of safety, health, and happiness.
The commitment to compassionate service expanded with the addition of Brian Friedel, who, motivated by the care his own mother received, became a business partner. Brian established A Family of Care No. 2 in 2021, opening his own home as a licensed RCFE to offer the same philosophy and high level of devotion. This second residence provides three extra-large shared rooms, allowing for comfortable living spaces that promote both privacy and social interaction. Outside, residents can enjoy a large backyard complete with a walking path and gazebo, ideal for relaxation and enjoying the outdoors.
Recognizing the growing need for supportive elder care in the community, A Family of Care has continued its mission by announcing the upcoming opening of A Family of Care No. 3, set for September 1st. Throughout all their homes, the philosophy remains consistent: to ensure that residents are surrounded by compassion, security, and sincere attentiveness. Whether gathering around for a nourishing meal, spending time in conversation, enjoying music played on the grand piano, or taking a stroll outdoors, each day at A Family of Care is shaped by the dedication of Mark, Kathleen, Brian, and their team to create a true family atmosphere for every resident.
