    Great care but administrative problems

I stayed here for short-term rehab and overall I'm grateful-Mike and the nursing/rehab teams (RN NoNa, RN Leah, Paul and others) were kind, professional and attentive, kept me updated, respected dietary/religious needs, and even followed up after discharge. My bright, clean private room, great PT, enjoyable activities (Bingo, beauty shop, live dinner entertainment) and hot meals helped me thrive. I felt safe leaving my loved one in their care and would highly recommend the frontline staff. That said, systemic management problems-spotty family communication, chaos around belongings, poor parking/reception, and troubling reports of unethical tipping-need to be addressed by administration.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive: a majority of reviewers highlight strong clinical care, effective rehabilitation services, and many individual staff members who are described as attentive, compassionate, and professional. Multiple families reported that the nursing team provided life-saving or diligent care, engaged residents in therapies, and personalized plans through family conferences and plan-of-care reviews. Physical therapy and high-quality rehab are repeatedly praised for producing measurable improvement, and several reviewers specifically noted encouragement to participate and consistent progress updates.

Many reviews emphasize an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere created by staff who address residents by name and often by title, recognize personal preferences, and ensure participation in activities. The facility’s cleanliness and the availability of private, bright, sunny rooms are positive themes, as are amenities such as a beautifully landscaped courtyard, on-site beauty shop services, hot meals delivered to rooms, and active programming (Bingo and live dinner entertainment). Several reviews also call out courteous follow-up after discharge and specific staff members (e.g., named RNs and team leads) who provided exceptional support, which has reassured families and supported transitions home.

However, there is a notable pattern of inconsistent experiences. While many families describe excellent, above-and-beyond care, a subset of reviews report troubling incidents: lack of family contact, perceived insensitivity during bereavement, and poor handling of personal belongings. A few reviewers raised serious concerns including allegations of bribery—claims that care quality was tied to tipping—and at least one report referencing a resident death and calling out management failures. These negative reports raise red flags about variability in practice, potentially uneven staff behavior, and possible systemic leadership issues that may not affect every resident but are significant when they occur.

Communication and administration are recurrent themes with both praise and criticism. Positive comments highlight accessible head nurses, clear communication and team-based updates. Conversely, other reviewers experienced poor communication: restrictive patient phone policies, lack of reception or difficulty reaching family members, missed scheduled meetings, and uncertainty about long-term placement availability. Parking difficulties and limited long-term bed availability were practical concerns noted by multiple reviewers. These mixed signals suggest that while frontline clinical teams often perform well, administrative processes and family-facing logistics can be inconsistent.

Activities and resident life are generally well-regarded (Bingo, landscaped outdoor spaces, entertainment, and accommodations for religious and dietary needs were praised). Still, a minority of reviewers felt there were not enough activities for some residents, indicating there may be variability in engagement depending on unit, shift, or resident needs. The facility’s responsiveness to dietary and religious requirements is a definite strength cited by families, supporting individualized care beyond strictly clinical services.

In summary, Broadway Manor Care Center receives frequent commendation for nursing competency, effective rehabilitation services, cleanliness, and several compassionate staff members who provide personalized attention. These strengths are counterbalanced by intermittent but serious complaints about management responsiveness, communication breakdowns, alleged unethical practices (tipping/bribery), and at least one severe incident involving bereavement handling. Prospective residents and families should weigh the generally strong clinical and rehabilitative reputation against reports of inconsistency. Recommended due diligence includes asking about staffing consistency, how the facility handles bereavement and belongings, communication policies (phone/visitor/reception), parking and long-term placement options, and whether there have been any formal complaints or corrective actions related to the more serious allegations noted by reviewers.

    About Broadway Manor Care Center

Broadway Manor Care Center gives seniors nursing home care for both short and long stays and has licensed nurses around the clock for residents who need help with daily living or have serious health concerns, and the building has a gated entrance for safety, so folks and families feel a little better about everyday comings and goings. Meals get a lot of attention here, with chefs and meal planners preparing food using good, nutritious ingredients, and residents can eat in dining areas where staff try to make things pleasant and welcoming. The staff here are known for being joyful and kind, and you tend to see them helping out not just residents but also families who visit or other staff who work there. Broadway Manor has different rooms and spaces for folks to spend time in, like a patio and a garden outside, where residents can get some fresh air or join an activity if they'd like, and there's WiFi throughout the building so those who want to connect with family or just use the internet can do that without fuss.

The place tries to keep people active and engaged, with activity programs that fit active residents-those might include group games, special classes, and planned outings. They also run social and religious services, beauty and barber services, along with audiology, so folks can get their hair trimmed or hearing checked without needing to leave the facility. The care team pays attention to each person's needs, including specialty care like wound care, IV therapy, and skilled nursing care, which means someone gets help with complicated health needs if that's necessary. There's a focus on making sure care is tailored and that every resident feels included, which means language is never a barrier since staff can speak English, Spanish, and Tagalog, so people can talk and be understood in the way that feels most natural. Respite stays are offered, too, which is useful for families who need short-term care, and Broadway Manor provides rehabilitation therapies for those recovering from surgery or an illness, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Folks seem to say staff are dedicated and caring, and while it's not fancy in a showy way, it's got the basics covered with careful attention on quality and security.
