I felt warmly welcomed from day one - the clean, homey facility and convenient location put me at ease. The nurses, CNAs and rehab teams were kind, knowledgeable and attentive; therapy restored my mobility, meals and activities were solid, and family communication was clear - overall a very positive experience I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for Ridgeway Post Acute present a mixed but distinct pattern. Many families praised the facility's rehabilitation services, noting effective physical and occupational therapy that supported measurable gains and timely discharges. Rehabilitation staff, activity coordinators, and specific nurses and CNAs received frequent commendations for being attentive, encouraging, and skilled; several reviewers highlighted successful therapy-driven returns home and strong coordination with hospice when needed.

At the same time, a set of operational concerns recurs in the reviews. There are multiple accounts of delayed responses to call lights and requests for assistance, as well as examples that indicate medication-management and bathing/incontinence-care inconsistencies. A small number of serious allegations regarding staff conduct and resident safety were reported; these raise concerns that families expect the facility and regulators to address. Reviewers also described variability in the availability and timeliness of therapy services, indicating that care intensity can differ by unit or shift.

Dining and amenities received generally positive remarks about presentation and dietitian involvement, though a few reviewers characterized meals as uneven and noted that some rooms feel dated. The facility is frequently described as clean and welcoming, with holiday decorations and outdoor access contributing to a pleasant environment. Activities and social programming are commonly cited as strengths, with music, outings, and on-site events creating an engaged atmosphere.

Management and admissions are another area of contrast: admissions staff and the intake process were described as knowledgeable and well-organized by several families, but others reported inconsistent communication from clinicians and variable responsiveness across shifts. Additional operational gaps mentioned include post-event room-turnover and end-of-life procedure issues, and concerns about fragrance exposure and cultural sensitivity among staff.

For prospective residents and families, the most salient pattern is variability: Ridgeway appears capable of delivering strong rehab outcomes, compassionate hands-on care, and a welcoming environment, but these strengths may be unevenly experienced depending on staffing and shift. Visitors considering the facility should ask specific questions about staffing levels, call-light response metrics, medication-safety protocols, bathing and incontinence routines, and any fragrance or cultural-sensitivity policies. If possible, speak with current families and request recent quality or incident logs to better understand how the facility addresses the operational concerns raised alongside its noted clinical and programmatic strengths.

    About Ridgeway Post Acute

Ridgeway Post Acute sits in Petaluma, California, and is a nonprofit post-acute care facility offering both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care in a home-like setting, with semi-private rooms that have free cable, WiFi, and telephone hookups, and you can bring your own TV if you'd like or just use the one provided, and they always recommend to pack about five easy-to-change outfits and some comfortable rubber-soled shoes, plus label your clothes with your name since laundry gets done in very hot water by an industrial washer, though families can choose to wash laundry at home too. The staff includes skilled nurses, a dedicated infection prevention nurse, rehabilitation specialists, a registered dietitian, and a food service director who work together to focus on helping residents heal and recover while also looking at each person's food needs and preferences-they follow guidelines for COVID-19 and other diseases and keep up with routine infection prevention. Ridgeway Post Acute has both 24-hour skilled nursing services and regular rehabilitation with the rehab director deciding how often a resident gets therapy, and they can arrange dental, vision, podiatry, audiology, psychiatric, and other professional services as needed, plus they've got social services staff to help you and your family with planning, concerns, or transitions. The community tries to stay lively with a big emphasis on social programs and resident councils, making sure activities fit what each person can do, from birthday parties, outings, and music events, to religious meetings, games, movement or exercise, reading the newspaper, singing, and bringing in outside entertainment; there's always something happening on the calendar, and kids can visit if you let the charge nurse know, and pets can come too if they're up to date on vaccines and you pick up after them and keep them safe. There's an activities lounge you can reserve for special events like birthdays and special meals, and outings get arranged as part of their program, with plenty of communal and outdoor spaces made for visiting and relaxation, though they ask room visits be limited to one to three people at a time and prefer most gatherings take place in common areas where possible. Meals are adjusted for medical diets and personal tastes, and residents on Medicare, after a qualifying hospital stay, can get up to 100 days of covered care-100% covered for the first 20 days, and then a co-insurance is needed after that. Ridgeway Post Acute supports its residents with personalized care, helping with both physical health and community connections, offering both short-term and long-term options, and continuing to recruit for a range of staff like nurses, activity aides, cooks, and dietary aides to keep up the facility's programs and care, and while it's not fancy, it's a calm place mostly focused on healing, safety, and companionship for those needing skilled nursing or a spot to recover after illness or surgery.
