    Compassionate modern convenient independent living

I'm very pleased with my experience - the staff are compassionate, well-trained and genuinely helpful, which puts my family at ease. The apartment-style units are spacious and modern with private patios and safety features, and the walkable location near shops and the library is convenient. Activities are plentiful (pool/water aerobics, bingo, exercise classes), plus transportation and Meals on Wheels keep residents engaged. Overall a reassuring, well-run place for independent or assisted living with only minor room to improve.

    Summary of reviews

ACC Greenhaven Terrace presents as an apartment-style senior community with larger units and several built-in safety and comfort features. Units are described as spacious (including two-bedroom options), with private patios, in-unit appliances, and bathroom grab bars. Common spaces receive positive mention for size and design, including a hall with vaulted ceilings, a pleasant reception area, and ample parking. The property also offers an indoor entrance and community resources such as a computer room.

Care and staffing are generally characterized positively. Multiple comments highlight friendly, helpful, and well-trained staff who can arrange medical equipment (for example, hospital beds) and medical evaluations when needed. Reviewers describe a caring, reassuring environment for families and offer examples of staff responsiveness and compassionate interactions. The community operates a mix of independent and assisted living arrangements and has an average resident age noted around the early 80s.

Dining is an operational distinction to note: meals are prepared off-site at a sister facility rather than in an on-site kitchen. That arrangement appears to limit menu flexibility for some residents; reviewers cited limited vegetarian and specialty diet options. Meals-on-Wheels is available as an additional resource. Financially, the facility uses a base pricing model with multiple add-on charges; several comments indicate perceived high overall cost and advise careful review of what is included in the contract.

Amenities and activities include a pool with water-aerobics, exercise classes, bingo, and transportation services, and the location permits walkable access to nearby shopping (Nugget Market) and the library for residents who are mobile. That said, activity offerings are described as quieter on weekends, with some reviewers calling weekend programming limited. The community is described as active overall, but prospective residents who prioritize robust daily programming may find variability in weekend activity levels.

Management and community policy patterns are mixed. Positive interactions with on-site leadership are noted, but there are also comments about inconsistent enforcement of community rules—most prominently around pet control—and safety concerns stemming from unleashed animals on the grounds. A small number of families described abrupt discharge or relocation notices and difficult interactions related to assisted-living transitions; these accounts suggest potential variability in how policy and transitions are managed. Additionally, reviewers flagged neighborhood-safety considerations that can affect resident access and comfort.

In summary, Greenhaven Terrace appears best suited for seniors seeking apartment-style independent living with access to assisted services when needed, who value roomy units, on-site recreation (pool, exercise), and proximity to neighborhood amenities. Strengths include well-maintained interiors, helpful staff, and convenient resources. Important due diligence items for prospective residents and families are confirming meal sourcing and menu options, clarifying all fees and add-on charges in the contract, reviewing pet and community-rule enforcement, and asking about weekend activity schedules and discharge/relocation policies before committing.

    About ACC Greenhaven Terrace

ACC Greenhaven Terrace: Senior Apartments & Assisted Living sits in Sacramento, right near shops and local services, and you'll find dogs and cats around because pets are welcome here, which isn't something you see everywhere, and sometimes you'll see people out by the fountains or in the community garden, which stays well-kept throughout the year. Folks living here have a choice between one or two-bedroom apartments with plenty of space, full kitchens, walk-in closets, a patio or balcony, and extra storage outside, and you'll notice they have features like dishwashers, garbage disposals, and the regular perks like heating and air conditioning, so no need to worry about being comfortable during any season. The building, which is three stories tall and was built in 2000, offers both independent and assisted living, so residents aged 62 and above can get the kind of care they need at different stages, with 24 licensed assisted living apartments on the second floor and memory care apartments if someone develops cognitive issues.

Residents often gather in the sunny courtyards, swim in the pool, walk the paths, or join in community activities like water aerobics, yoga, and tai chi, while the big open dining room lets folks share meals, which are prepared by professional chefs, three times a day, with dietary preferences considered. There's a fitness room, library, computer room, activity spaces, a beauty salon, and even a theater room for movies, and people can join in card games, bingo, or join groups like the ukulele and vocal groups that meet regularly. Some areas are just for women, while others are for both men and women, and family members who visit have easy parking and can use spacious indoor common areas.

The care here covers basic needs, with help available for daily tasks like bathing, dressing, medication, and keeping up with laundry or housekeeping, and there are on-site nurses and a podiatrist who visits, which helps with foot care that can be hard to find elsewhere. The place is set up so someone can live here alone or as part of a couple, with emergency call pendants and care staff available any hour, and residents can expect weekly linen changes and cleaning, plus all utilities except phone and cable included. The community offers free shuttle rides under the ACC Rides program, so getting to stores or appointments isn't a hassle, and even folks who don't drive don't feel cut off.

Greenhaven Terrace runs a set of wellness and learning classes, about 50 sessions each week, with supportive programs like caregiver support, utility education, and job help for seniors, all meant to include residents as much as they want in daily life. There's a real focus on making friends, staying as active as possible, and keeping people involved mentally and physically for as long as they're able. The place has received a 5-star Medicare rating since 2013 and was recognized with a Silver Award from the American Health Care Association, which means the quality of care is regularly checked and kept at a high level. Residents and their families often mention the friendly and respectful atmosphere, which feels more like an extended family, and the staff are noted for being helpful and courteous, without being overbearing. The assisted living section has private studio and one-bedroom options, personal bathrooms, and is set up for both singles and couples, with specific help for those who need extra support.

Overall, ACC Greenhaven Terrace offers flexible living for older adults looking for independence, help with daily tasks, or memory care, and all the shared amenities and active programs mean that folks have plenty to do and the help they need, without feeling like they're giving up what matters most to them.
