    Caring family-like staff and facility

I'm very pleased with the caring, reliable staff and family-like atmosphere-my parent is well looked after, enjoys great food and lots of activities, and feels comfortable with the culturally familiar care. The clean, spacious, sunlit apartments, helpful director and 24-hour staff make visits easy; I'd definitely recommend this welcoming, smaller facility.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Lakewood Villa is described as a small, family-oriented assisted living setting with consistent praise for frontline caregivers, cleanliness, and a welcoming environment. Families and residents commonly commented on kind, respectful staff and a sense that the home provides culturally familiar care for Filipino residents. The facility is frequently characterized as well-kept, with spacious, naturally lit apartments, a pleasant backyard, and a warm dining area.

Care and staff: Reviewers emphasize compassionate, attentive staff and 24-hour coverage. Caregivers and management are described as responsive and communicative; families noted punctual staff, detailed answers to questions, and an accessible director/owner. This combination appears to provide caregiver relief and a reliable day-to-day experience for many residents.

Dining and amenities: Dining receives consistently positive remarks — reviewers describe welcoming kitchen and dining spaces and generally favorable food quality. The property layout and amenities (open floor plan, natural light, outdoor space) are seen as comfortable and functional. An all-inclusive price point was quoted by one source, giving prospective families a clear cost reference.

Activities and clinical services: Accounts of programming are mixed. Some residents experience an active calendar of on-site activities and a functioning day program, while other accounts point to limited activity variety and fewer off-site outings, often attributed to staffing constraints. Clinical services appear basic; reviewers noted physician visits but limited specialty or mental-health programming and few outside excursions for residents.

Resident mix and suitability: A notable pattern is a resident population skewed toward higher-acuity cognitive impairment. For families seeking placement for more independent or low-acuity residents, this mix may reduce suitability. Security measures such as perimeter alarms and wander-prevention systems are in place, reflecting the higher-acuity profile of many residents.

Facilities and location: The facility is generally described as clean and maintained, but some reviewers noted dated areas and a building that shows its age. A few families also mentioned that the location was not ideal for their needs. Prospective residents should weigh neighborhood convenience alongside the facility’s staffing and resident-acuity profile.

Bottom line: Lakewood Villa offers attentive, culturally sensitive caregiving in a small, clean, and welcoming setting with positive dining and outdoor spaces. Key trade-offs include a resident population that leans toward advanced cognitive needs, constrained activity/outings tied to staffing, limited specialty and mental-health programming, and some aging facility elements. Families should visit to assess fit for their loved one’s acuity and activity preferences and to confirm current programming and clinical-service availability.

    About Lakewood Villa

Lakewood Villa sits on the south side of Gerber Road as a small, licensed care home under Vixcent Villaluna, and folks here will find the place open to eighteen residents at a time, so it feels pretty close-knit and relaxed-staff stay on-site around the clock, and nurses are on call with dentist services available when needed, making sure everyone gets support for things like bathing, dressing, transfers, medication, and the little daily tasks that can get harder over time, and you'll also see help with blood sugar checks, incontinence, non-ambulatory care, and high-acuity needs. The Lakewood Villa Care Home offers three levels of care-light, medium, and heavy-so if someone's needs change, they can get more help without having to move out, and there's both hospice and respite care available too, helping families out when they need a break or when comfort is the main focus.

Residents get meals made to meet many needs, like kosher, vegetarian, low-sodium, low-sugar, and even international food, and there's a dining room for shared meals, but people can also find guest meals and allergy-sensitive options, plus there's always coffee and chat nearby since shops and churches are in the area. The whole place is wheelchair accessible, with showers, full tubs, and support for non-ambulatory folks, and there's also parking for residents, complimentary transportation for outings and appointments, and Wi-Fi.

Memory care is part of what they do, with a dedicated building for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, secured exits with wearable alarms so people don't wander off, and hands-on help for things like medication or getting to daily activities, and the program uses art classes, karaoke, Wii bowling, and stretching classes to keep people's minds and bodies busy. Those with behavioral needs have tailored care, supervised by staff every hour of the day, and the community uses unique names for their programs, so that if there's extra therapy-physical, occupational, respiratory, or behavioral-they work to bring it in-house.

Rooms come furnished, and residents can bring pets, keep a bit of home with them, enjoy beauty and barber services, and take part in community-sponsored events like movie nights, garden walks, and library time, with both indoor and outdoor common areas for groups to gather or for quiet reflection. Religious and devotional services are held on site, and there are daily checkups, medication with a pharmacist ready to answer questions, heart checks, and reminders for important routines like grooming or toileting.

Lakewood Villa tries to balance independence with support, creating a warm, nurturing spot that respects each person's needs and background, offering companionship, fitness clubs, housekeeping, laundry, emergency alert systems, and move-in help, and anyone looking for respite, day care, or long-term assisted living will find a mix of medical care and friendly company, with multicultural diversity and welcoming staff. Licensed by California (License #342701116), the home's focus is straightforward senior care, personalized attention, and safe, comfortable daily living, making it a steady and simple choice for many families.
