    Compassionate staff and comprehensive care

I'm grateful for the kind, compassionate staff-Daniel is the best-who go above and beyond to provide attentive, clean nursing and therapies that give me real peace of mind. The large, well-maintained, quiet campus with trees, a patio and gardening options, plus engaging activities (singing, fitness, games, music), feels warm and welcoming. They offer comprehensive, individualized care (Alzheimer's, diabetes, rehab/physical & speech therapy, social services), though there's occasional disorganization and a few residents seem tired or lonely; overall I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for High Valley Lodge is strongly positive, with repeated praise for the staff, clinical services, and the facility's environment. Reviewers consistently describe a clean, comfortable, and welcoming building set in a peaceful, tree-filled outdoor space with a pleasant patio and gardening opportunities. Many comments emphasize the calming, quiet atmosphere and the well-maintained grounds, which contribute to residents' sense of peace and to family members' comfort and reassurance.

Care quality and clinical services are frequent strengths in the reviews. Multiple mentions highlight comprehensive nursing care and a range of therapy options, including rehabilitation services and both physical and speech therapy. The facility is noted for providing care for residents with specific medical needs such as Alzheimer's disease and diabetes, and reviewers point out that individualized care plans are used. Several comments express gratitude for attentive nurses and staff who "go above and beyond," and some reviews explicitly say the care gave them peace of mind and that they would highly recommend the facility.

Staff and culture receive strong, specific praise. Reviewers call staff friendly, kind, and compassionate; they describe interactions as attentive and caring. One reviewer singled out an individual by name (Daniel) as providing exceptional care, and multiple notes refer to the nursing team in general as thoughtful and responsive. The presence of social services to assist with transitions is also highlighted, suggesting attention to administrative and emotional needs around moves and changes in care level.

Facility features and activities are another commonly mentioned positive. The building itself is described as large and well-maintained. Indoor programming includes engaging activities such as singing, fitness classes, games, and music, and outdoor options like gardening are available. These offerings indicate an active approach to social and recreational programming intended to maintain engagement and well-being.

Notable concerns and patterns are limited but meaningful. Some reviewers describe parts of the facility—particularly hallways and certain areas—as neat but sterile or hospital-like; this contrasts with other comments describing a warm and welcoming environment and may point to variability between common areas and living spaces. Another recurring issue is occasional disorganization; while most feedback about care is positive, reviewers note that processes or coordination can be inconsistent at times. Finally, a small number of comments mention that some residents appear tired or lonely despite the programming, suggesting that activity engagement may not reach or suit every resident and that social isolation remains a concern for a subset of people.

In summary, the reviews paint High Valley Lodge as a generally well-regarded facility with strong clinical services, compassionate staff, and pleasant grounds and activities. The dominant themes are cleanliness, individualized medical and therapy care, and staff who provide attentive, above-and-beyond support. Areas to monitor or improve include reducing hospital-like visual cues in some spaces, addressing occasional organizational inconsistencies, and ensuring activity programming reaches residents who may feel tired or isolated. Overall impression: reliable, caring, and well-maintained, with a few manageable areas for improvement.

    About High Valley Lodge

High Valley Lodge sits at 7912 Topley Ln, Sunland, CA, and the place feels peaceful and friendly right off the bat, with folks saying the front yard is cute and the neighborhood's nice and quiet, and if you walk inside you'll see wide, comfortable hallways and lots of big windows letting in sunlight from those outside patios, where residents often garden and enjoy the shade from thick trees and palm plants, plus there are places to sit or join in community-sponsored activities or just watch birds. The facility is family-owned and has been run since 1989, aiming to have a home-like setting for people needing different levels of help, from independent living for seniors wanting some freedom and no housework, to assisted living for help with daily things like bathing or dressing, and even more hands-on care through their skilled nursing facility for folks recovering from illness, surgery, or needing long-term medical support because they're very frail or have chronic conditions. If someone's got memory problems like Alzheimer's or similar dementias, the memory care wing's set up so staff can guide residents safely, help avoid confusion, and reduce wandering, offering activities and routines that promote comfort and mental wellness.

Nursing care is available around the clock, with staff that includes a Director of Nursing and Registered Nurses who check on residents regularly, manage medications, handle pain management, and provide specialized treatments like occupational, physical, or speech therapy for those working to regain strength or independence after being in the hospital, and there's an emergency call system in every room so help can come fast if needed-residents also get help eating, transferring in and out of bed, and managing other health issues like diabetes, bowel and bladder training, or even psychiatric care through on-call consultants. They've got good inspection grades, and families can join resident and family councils to help guide the community's life, which folks say feels joyful thanks to a caring staff and plenty of activities-things like fitness classes, singing, games, and resident-led groups happen daily, keeping everyone connected. Gardens and patios outside let folks water plants or sit together, and the outdoor space is well cared for, providing sun or shade as needed with lots of room for taking walks.

For daily living, High Valley Lodge has amenities like restaurant-style meals made with good ingredients, a beauty salon, cable or satellite TV, Wi-Fi, furnished apartments with kitchenettes, and a library for those who want to read or look at magazines, and light housekeeping keeps things clean. They provide home health and home care services too, so if someone wants to stay in their own home but needs help, trained aides can come by and give companionship and support, and if things get more complicated, hospice care and social service support helps with extra needs like planning discharges, getting to doctor or dental visits, or sorting through theft prevention or medication questions. The place takes in around 50 residents, keeping things smaller for a close-knit feel, and their whole approach is focused on personalized care, knowing every resident by name, and trying to bring a little more comfort to each day, whether someone needs more medical help, memory support, or simply wants a place that feels like home while staying active and social.
