    Compassionate dementia care, family atmosphere

I placed my dad here for four years and appreciated the knowledgeable, compassionate staff - especially Lilibeth, an experienced nurse who advocated for him - the strong dementia and medical care, attentive physical therapy and fall-prevention, nourishing home-cooked meals, spotless rooms and lovely yard, and seamless hospice coordination. I'm grateful for the warm, family-oriented atmosphere and organized, trustworthy care; I would recommend this facility for most families.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews paint Epione Residential Care as a small, well-maintained community with a clear emphasis on personalized, medically attentive care. Families consistently describe staff interactions as warm and family-like; nursing staff and leadership are repeatedly identified as experienced and competent. Reviewers highlight strong clinical attention, including effective coordination with hospice, proactive fall-prevention measures, and responsiveness to medical changes.

Dining and nutrition are recurrent strengths in the feedback. Meals are characterized as home-cooked and adaptable to residents' needs, with reviewers noting nourishing options and good meal service during community dining. Staff responsiveness around mealtimes and individualized meal plans for health needs are emphasized.

The facility environment and amenities are described positively: reviewers note cleanliness, an odor-free interior, accessible outdoor yard space, and pleasant room features such as windows and proximity to bathrooms. There is also repeated mention of supportive transitions for residents with cognitive impairment and dementia-capable care practices, including family accommodation during visits and assistance during transitions.

Staffing and culture emerge as central strengths. Reviewers single out specific caregivers and nursing leadership for advocacy, organization, and compassionate end-of-life care that honored family wishes. Coordination across clinical services and the care team’s organization are presented as reliable, with families expressing gratitude for seamless handoffs and clear communication.

Notable patterns and potential gaps: the available comments focus heavily on clinical care, meals, and interpersonal warmth, but provide less detail about the full range of structured recreational or enrichment programming beyond outdoor walks and communal meals. Similarly, reviewers do not elaborate on operational items such as staffing ratios, turnover, or cost and admissions transparency. On-site therapy descriptions are mainly limited to physical therapy; information about other rehabilitative or specialty services is not prominent in the feedback.

Overall, Epione Residential Care appears to offer a high level of personalized nursing care within a clean, family-oriented environment. Prospective residents and families who prioritize individualized clinical oversight, dementia transition support, compassionate hospice coordination, and a home-like dining experience are likely to find the community well suited to their needs. Those who require detailed information about activity programming breadth, staffing metrics, or a broader spectrum of on-site therapies may want to request that information during a tour or admissions discussion.

    About Epione Residential Care

Epione Residential Care sits on South Mary Avenue in Sunnyvale, right in Santa Clara County, and you'll see it's one of those homes where six residents live together in a single-story house that's been fixed up to be comfortable and safe, with private and shared rooms, and you'll see the place is really clean and tidy, no bad smells or messes, and the whole feel is homelike and warm, so residents don't feel lost in a big facility. Lilibeth Jacobs, who's a registered nurse, runs a team of caregivers who look after people all day and night, taking care of health needs, making sure folks get their medicine on time, and helping with things like bathing, dressing, and eating, while keeping an eye on anyone who might need a hand moving around so folks are less likely to fall. Meals are home-cooked and changed around for residents with allergies or diabetes, and if you walk around, you'll find a nice yard and some paths for getting fresh air or taking a calm stroll. The team helps residents stay active and social with things like movie nights, creative arts, group meals, walks, and the occasional shopping trip, and they check up on everybody's health, handle laundry and cleaning, and work with family as much as they can, encouraging visits and your phone calls so folks don't feel forgotten. For doctors' visits, there's transportation, and residents have emergency call buttons in their rooms for quick help, which is good peace of mind. If someone's going through hospital stays or rehab, the staff works hard to advocate for comfort, and if needed, they'll coordinate with hospice for pain relief and support. Epione Residential Care has a license for six beds, and it's been in business for over five years under license number 435202751, with the last licensing check done in March 2021. The whole idea here is to give seniors a safe, cheerful place to live where they're respected, with plenty of help when needed but freedom when possible, whether folks need a little extra help, memory care, or more independent living, and the home takes Medicaid for payment and keeps privacy and resident information secure at all times.
