    Warm family-like dementia care, recommended

After my dad's rehab discharge we chose this small, home-like facility and I'm very pleased - the staff are wonderful, warm and family-like, provide 24/7 dementia-aware care, and genuinely made Pop feel at home while easing our worry. Private rooms, homemade meals, an engaged activities director, garden treats and attentive daily checks delivered great value; I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Evergreen Residence presents as a small, privately owned assisted-living community that many families describe as warm and family-like. Reviewers frequently praise the caregiving staff for compassion, continuity, and a strong rapport with residents; there are multiple references to long-tenured employees and staff who know residents well. Several accounts emphasize effective dementia-care skills in the Alzheimer's area and examples of clinical progress (for example, rehabilitation gains and improved nutrition). The facility offers round-the-clock supervision and a small-house environment that some families prefer.

Dining and programmatic offerings are described positively overall. The kitchen is regularly noted as clean, with meals prepared from scratch and described as high quality; some families reported nutritional improvements after admission. Activities are active for a small facility, with an engaged activities director, volunteer-led entertainment, garden access and occasional special treats. However, the physical layout limits programming in some cases: the dining room is used as a multipurpose activity space, which can constrain simultaneous dining and events.

Facility condition and room configuration are mixed. There are reports of ongoing remodeling and improvements under current management, but also references to areas with deferred maintenance and run-down finishes. Resident rooms are frequently characterized as small or crowded; private rooms with attached bathrooms are available, though several rooms lack in-room showers. Sanitation standards appear uneven across the building, with some families noting odor concerns and other cleanliness issues in specific areas.

Memory-care and supervision show variability. While some families describe competent dementia care and a secure memory unit, other accounts point to gaps in memory-care availability or inconsistent supervision and responsiveness in that area. This pattern suggests differences in experience depending on unit or timing. Service pricing is generally presented as a flat-rate model and is considered affordable by many; at the same time, cost information was not always consistently disclosed, creating some uncertainty for prospective families.

In summary, Evergreen Residence may suit families seeking a small, home-like setting with compassionate, familiar staff, high-quality meals, and an active volunteer-supported activities program. Prospective residents should weigh those strengths against operational limitations: smaller room sizes, variable cleanliness and maintenance across the building, limited dedicated activity spaces, and inconsistencies reported around memory-care supervision and bathing configurations. Visiting the facility at different times of day, touring specific room options, and asking for clear written pricing and memory-care staffing details would help families evaluate fit and set expectations.
