    Gentle caregivers, home-cooked meals, recommended

I'm very pleased with this lovely small home - the owners are there every day and respond quickly, and the caregivers are gentle, consistent, and truly tuned into my mom's needs. Meals are home-cooked, residents seem happy, and staff keep everything organized while offering yoga and holiday celebrations. I would recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression The reviews portray a small, home-like assisted living setting with a strong emphasis on personalized, attentive care. Families and observers consistently describe staff as compassionate and gentle, and they highlight the presence of on-site owners who are actively involved in day-to-day operations. These elements combine to create a generally positive resident atmosphere and frequent family recommendations.

Care and staff Care quality is characterized by consistent staff assignments and close observation of residents' condition. Reviewers noted that caregivers are tuned in to changes in residents' status and that staff members are generally quick to respond when something seems amiss. The tone of comments emphasizes gentle, accommodating interactions and routine oversight of daily needs, which supports the facility's image as a reliably caring environment.

Dining Dining is frequently described in favorable terms: meals are prepared by caring staff and contribute to a cheerful communal experience. The language used suggests that food service is integrated with the caregiving culture rather than treated as a separate, impersonal operation, which can be important for residents who benefit from routine and familiar faces during meal times.

Activities and facilities The home offers structured activities such as yoga and holiday celebrations, contributing to a social calendar and opportunities for engagement. However, reviewers also indicate that safety considerations limit the extent of group socialization. The small scale of the facility supports close relationships and individualized attention but may also constrain large-group programming or diverse activity options compared with larger communities.

Management and notable patterns Management presence is a recurring positive theme: owners are described as present and responsive, reinforcing operational oversight and quick problem resolution. The dominant pattern across comments is praise for staff attentiveness and a warm atmosphere, balanced by an operational trade-off in which safety-focused practices reduce some group social opportunities. Prospective residents and families should weigh the benefits of consistent, hands-on care and a small, home-like setting against more limited communal programming driven by safety priorities.

    About My Home of Aging

My Home of Aging sits in a quiet residential neighborhood in Woodland Hills, California, at 23817 Bessemer Street, not far from West Hills Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, and shops and restaurants you can walk to, with parks, mountains, and walking paths nearby, and offers care for seniors in a small, home-like setting with only six private bedrooms, so every resident gets close attention and more privacy. Staff at My Home of Aging provide skilled nursing services, which means round-the-clock medical care, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and wound care for people who have serious health needs after an illness or surgery, and they're trained in memory care, so they offer specialized programs, safe environments, and activities for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, with 24-hour supervision to help residents stay safe and feel less anxious. The community has assisted living services, too, like help with medication, bathing, dressing, meals, and housekeeping, and for those who want independence but need support sometimes, they also offer independent living with help available if needed, and residents can enjoy things like open floor plans, modern decor, and WiFi which makes it easier to get around and stay connected. There's a focus on warm, personalized care, with a staff that goes through careful screening and a lot of training so residents can maintain their dignity and self-reliance while getting the help they need, whether that's long-term care, hospice, or just an occasional hand with daily tasks, and families get peace of mind knowing someone's there. The place is comfortable and safe, with easy access for people who don't move as well as they used to, and they handle things like laundry, cooking, and even transportation and parking, and when caregivers need a break, they offer respite care so your loved one is supported. My Home of Aging belongs to Serenity Care Health, which runs several homes in the San Fernando Valley, including Walnut Acres Residential Care and Flairs Manor, with the same emphasis on kindness and trust. While Medicare isn't accepted unless certified, the home is licensed for six residents and focuses on those aged sixty and older, creating a real community feel with higher staff ratios and lots of attention. The environment is set up to help residents with memory problems feel less lost and more comfortable, whether in a single-story or multi-story home, and open layouts make it easy for anyone to get around, so everyone can age in place with the support they need as their needs change.
