    Compassionate safe clean attentive care

I placed my dad here under new ownership and have been very pleased - professional, kind managers (Christine the nurse/manager) and passionate caregivers treat residents like family, communicate well, and provide timely, attentive care. The home is extremely clean, quiet and comfortable with a gorgeous remodeled backyard, good food, and easy ways to stay connected like Skype. My dad found peace and I felt he was safe and well cared for; I recommend this compassionate, residents-first community.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews for this facility present a mixed but distinct pattern: many families emphasize a warm, home-like environment with attentive, compassionate staff and engaged management, while a minority raise serious clinical and operational concerns. Under current ownership and management several reviewers describe professional leadership, good communication, rapid responsiveness, and a culture that treats residents like family. Positive remarks repeatedly cite cleanliness, remodeled outdoor areas, appealing meals, and dedicated caregivers; nursing leadership and on-site management are also named as strengths, along with conveniences such as video-call capability for families.

Care quality appears to be uneven. Numerous accounts praise caregivers as respectful and effective, and some reviewers credit the facility with stabilizing or improving residents’ condition through attentive care and medication review. However, other accounts describe clinical shortfalls that suggest gaps in monitoring and documentation: inadequate records of food intake and medication administration, inconsistent observation during evening or night hours, and instances indicating insufficient wound-prevention practices. These comments point to systemic issues in clinical oversight rather than isolated comfort concerns, and they underscore the need for clear protocols and reliable documentation.

Staffing and training are another contrast area. Many families commend the staff’s compassion, responsiveness, and skill, and they highlight experienced leadership and a residents-first ethos. At the same time, some reviewers specifically note a lack of dementia-focused training and uneven staffing responsiveness during overnight hours. This combination suggests that while hiring and interpersonal culture are strengths, formalized training and consistent staffing patterns — particularly for memory-care needs and nighttime supervision — may require reinforcement.

Dining and engagement present a similarly mixed picture. The facility receives repeated praise for food quality and an accommodating approach to family communication about meals and medications. Yet several reviewers indicated a lack of structured activity programming and limited engagement options for residents, despite well-maintained common areas and outdoor spaces. Prospective families should ask about current activity schedules and how the facility individualizes social and therapeutic engagement.

Administration and business practices are generally viewed positively under new management for accessibility and compassion, but concerns were raised about billing and pricing transparency relative to services delivered. Given the divergence in experiences, prospective residents and their families would benefit from targeted questions at touring: ask to see current staffing ratios by shift, dementia-care training curricula, pressure-injury prevention protocols, examples of medication-administration records, the activity calendar, and a clear breakdown of fees and what they cover. These inquiries can help confirm whether the facility’s praised strengths are consistently applied to an individual resident’s care needs.

    About True Living Care

True Living Care sits in a quiet Woodland Hills neighborhood, where the house looks just like any other on the block, but inside you find a cozy residential care home that serves up to six people needing extra help with daily life or memory care, and this place really has that home-like feeling with all private rooms and a big 3,865 square foot layout, and you'll notice the staff-including caregivers with at least five years' experience who all pass a strict background check, are CPR and first aid certified, and receive regular yearly training-treat everyone with kindness and know how to help with things like bathing, dressing, managing medicines, and moving around, especially for residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory issues, thanks to a secure, state-approved memory care program that keeps everyone safe with special technology, like wander alert bracelets, and a staff on-site at all times who know what to do if someone tries to leave. The home's owned by a family, Vanessa and Christian, who live nearby and have made it their mission to mix good healthcare from the West with the gentler comforts of the East, and they run the place with a simple wish to help each person reach their best level every day, no matter their needs, whether it's assisted living, hospice, memory care for behaviors that need a little extra patience, or respite care when families need a break, all while keeping things as private and comfortable as possible. With all meals handled, including options for gluten-free, vegan, kosher, or special diets, and plenty of fresh food brought right to the table or the room, plus daily laundry, housekeeping, care for pets like a dog or cat, group activities like art classes, yoga, gardening, outings, and devotional services if wanted, it's got a personal touch that bigger places often miss, and residents can keep busy or relax in pleasant outdoor and indoor common areas. Residents get support from visiting nurses, dentists, podiatrists, and therapists, and the place is close to West Hills Hospital and Kaiser Permanente for quick help if needed, and just minutes from shops, restaurants, a movie theater, walking paths, tennis courts, and a pool in the nearby recreation center, as well as pretty spots like the Santa Monica Mountains. True Living Care is part of the Serenity Care Health network which runs eight family-owned homes across Los Angeles, all focused on keeping things small and friendly, and with an average price reported at $6,450 for a private room, people can check what's open and see details on what they'll pay. Folks who visit or call can talk with a local advisor and get free help finding the right care mix for their situation. Verified reviews put the rating at four out of five stars, noting the way staff meets physical and emotional needs while encouraging as much independence as possible, with extra attention to quality of life and dignity, especially for people aging in place as their care needs change.
