    About Willow Glen Care Center

Willow Glen Care Center sits at 1547 Plumas St. and has a long history serving seniors and adults with special needs all across northern California, being a nonprofit that tries to offer affordable housing and care, and you'll notice right away it looks and feels warm, with a real effort to encourage friendships and trust between residents and the staff, which people often say gives it a good atmosphere. The place holds up to 60 seniors in fully furnished homes that have things like private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, high-speed internet, and even air conditioning or heating, so everyone's pretty comfortable, and you'll see there's a good amount of common rooms, a fitness room, book room, game spaces, community spaces, and of course a sauna and jacuzzi, so there's pretty much always something to do, with outings, movie nights, music plans, arts and crafts, and even programs to get out in the community or go on day trips or camping around places like Dobbins, along with summer trips out to swimming pools and picnics, and sometimes even visits to Sacramento or other nearby places, which folks seem to really like since it helps break up the routine.

They provide everything you'd expect in assisted living, like help with bathing, grooming, dressing, and managing medicines, and they've got 24-hour supervision, a 24-hour call system, and nurses on-site 12 to 16 hours a day, which comes in handy for people who need transfers or have trouble moving around, plus some residents choose respite stays or get hospice care if needed. There's a home-cooked meal every day, made by a professional chef, and if you need special diets for things like diabetes or high blood pressure, they handle that too, so no one's eating something they shouldn't have, and a traveling hairdresser comes out to keep everyone looking sharp. The staff run a lot of activities for the mind and body, like music therapy, pet therapy, board games, regular workout groups, and spiritual or religious trips if someone requests, and a lot of this helps folks feel less alone or bored. You'll also find memory care, nursing home-level services, and even behavioral health services, since Willow Glen has a good amount of experience helping people who have difficult behaviors or need help taking psychotropic medicines, which isn't common in every place around here, and that makes them a bit unique.

There's a special Rosewood Care Center program within Willow Glen, focusing on adults with chronic mental illness, and the adult residential program serves about 40 people in a secure unit, with extra oversight from mental health staff, so anyone coming from psychiatric care gets strong support adjusting. They coordinate with local agencies and county mental health for treatment and discharge plans, and their facilities have licenses from the Community Care Licensing Division of the California Department of Social Services, which gives people some peace of mind that the place meets state standards. Willow Glen has an emergency alert system, regular housekeeping, and offers things like transportation to doctor appointments, errands, churches, and temple trips if you ask, and there's always a push so residents can keep as much independence and comfort as possible. The place can help with short- or long-term stays, and has both transitional and permanent care, so people can move in or out depending on what they need, and the programs run 24 hours a day. All told, the Willow Glen Care Center keeps it simple but tries steadily to help people be as well and independent as they're able, even when the needs are complicated or ongoing.
