    Attentive compassionate staff home-like care

I placed my loved one here and I'm very impressed. The staff - especially Elvis and Mia - are attentive, compassionate and professional; the owners are hands-on and communicative. The home-like, well-kept facility feels safe, residents are friendly, and care is personalized and good value. My loved one seems happy and well tended on every level.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed but clear pattern: many families emphasize warm, personalized attention and a comfortable, home-like environment, while a minority describe operational gaps that materially affected their experience. Positive comments focus on the quality of interpersonal care and facility upkeep. Caregivers are frequently described as compassionate and attentive, owners are characterized as involved, and specific staff members are praised for individualized attention. The setting is often described as well-maintained and safe, and several reviewers framed the cost as reasonable for the level of personal attention received.

Care and staffing: Care quality is a prominent strength when families experience continuity and direct caregiver engagement. Multiple comments highlight individualized care plans and communicative staff who make families feel informed. At the same time, reviewers also identified staffing constraints โ€” for example, a small caregiving team โ€” that can limit coverage and responsiveness. Clinical concerns raised include wound- and skin-care management gaps; these suggest the facility may need clearer clinical protocols or faster escalation pathways for changing clinical needs. Overall, experiences appear variable: many residents are described as well tended, while a minority experienced care issues serious enough to prompt early discharge.

Activities and dining: Activity programming is consistently described as limited or average. Prospective residents with higher expectations for structured social or recreational programming may find the options insufficient. Reviewers also noted limited information about meals and dining services, indicating that communication about menu content, dietary accommodations, and meal routines could be improved. Families valuing robust therapeutic or social programming should ask for activity schedules and examples of engagement opportunities during a tour.

Facilities and management: The physical environment is a strength; the facility is described as home-like and well-kept, and ownership is portrayed as hands-on. Communication from staff is generally seen as open and approachable. However, management-level concerns include inconsistent admissions decisions and inflexible financial or refund policies โ€” the latter has led to disputes in at least one instance. These operational issues point to the importance of reviewing contracts and admissions criteria closely before move-in.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The overall pattern is polarized: several families report satisfaction with individualized, compassionate care in a comfortable setting, while others experienced notable operational shortcomings that led to quick departures. Prospective residents and families should observe staffing levels at different times of day, request written descriptions of clinical and wound-care protocols, review the activity calendar, and read admission and refund policies carefully. Asking for references from current families and clarifying how the facility handles changes in clinical needs will help assess fit and reduce the risk of unexpected transitions.

About Rose of Sharon Assisted Living

Rose of Sharon Assisted Living sits at 6988 S Valentia St, Englewood, CO, but also has houses in Littleton, Centennial, and Aurora, with places like Yukon House, Washington House, Sherman House, Valentia House, and Weaver House, so you'll find it's more than just one building-it's a handful of homes tucked into cozy neighborhoods. The community helps seniors keep their independence by offering both assisted living and memory care. People can choose between semi-private and private suites, all of which come fully furnished with kitchenettes, private bathrooms, air-conditioning, cable TV, telephone, and Wi-Fi, and if you need something simple, you'll find shared rooms or private ones depending on what suits the resident. There's always housekeeping, linen service, maintenance-free living, and staff that aims to treat every resident with "The Platinum Rule"-meaning they try to give each person the type of care they'd want for their own parents, which sounds thoughtful and honest.

The homes at Rose of Sharon offer different levels of care, from basic support with daily activities like bathing and dressing, all the way up to help with medications, high acuity care for those with serious health needs, diabetic care, incontinence care, memory care for dementia and Alzheimer's, and even non-ambulatory care. Board and care homes in residential neighborhoods help a small number of residents with more personalized attention, and there's always 24-hour supervision and a call system for safety, which means you can rest a little easier if you worry about loved ones at night. Transportation is provided for doctor's visits or errands, and meals are made with organic foods, with special diets like diabetes-friendly options prepared, and there's a garden in the yard where tomatoes and cucumbers get grown for fresh eating.

People can age in place, moving through care levels without having to leave their familiar surroundings, and there are innovative options like continuing care retirement communities for folks who want to plan out their future care. Specialized memory care units provide a safe and calm place for those with dementia, with programs and memory-enhancing activities, and all memory care communities offer supervision around the clock. Staff receive extra COVID-19 safety training to keep things clean and safe, which is something families have come to expect now. Common areas give residents room for socializing and activities, there are spaces for recreation and therapy, a steady schedule of community-sponsored events, and plenty of chances for connection.

Amenities focus on comfort and ease, so you'll find things like resort-style features, maintenance-free living that takes away worries about cooking, cleaning, or housework, and help with everything from medication to daily personal care. There are respite care options if someone needs a short-term place to stay, and everything is set up to make it easier for seniors to maintain their autonomy while still having support right there when it's needed. Rose of Sharon Assisted Living isn't fancy for show, but it's clear the focus is on supporting both health and independence, offering care that can change as needs change, all inside a setting that feels like a real home, with real people ready to help.
