    Compassionate staff, productive rehab, improvements

I've been very pleased with Cedars Healthcare Center - compassionate, professional staff (nursing, therapy, admissions and concierge) who go above and beyond, productive rehab and daily activities, and a beautifully renovated, homey environment with lovely outdoor areas. Leadership under Miss Terry Lee and Mr. Everett Benton has driven real improvements in dining and communication; I feel cared for and would recommend Cedars as it continues to get even better.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Cedars Health Care Center presents as a facility in active transition. Numerous reviewers describe a substantial physical and cultural turnaround: recent renovations have produced a cleaner, more modern and home-like environment with attractive outdoor spaces, and leadership changes have coincided with efforts to restore the facility's reputation. Many families and residents praise the compassion and professionalism of bedside staff, the quality of therapy and rehabilitation services, and an engaging activity program that contributes to a community feel.

Care and clinical services: Clinical skill and rehabilitation capacity are frequently highlighted. Therapy teams, gym-based programming, and successful rehab outcomes are described as strengths, and nursing staff are often characterized as caring and capable. At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns that affect care continuity: inconsistent staffing levels, dependence on agency nurses, and gaps in monitoring and response that some families say produced delayed attention during acute events. There are also isolated but serious end-of-life and clinical-response concerns cited by families; prospective families should ask about staffing ratios, clinical monitoring protocols, and incident escalation procedures.

Staff and management: Reviews indicate a mix of highly committed frontline staff and uneven administrative performance. Many commenters single out individual CNAs, nurses, receptionists, and admissions personnel as welcoming and attentive, and leadership changes (including a new administrator) are associated with improved transparency and weekly family conferences. Conversely, several operational weaknesses remain at the management level: inconsistent leadership, slow or bureaucratic communication, discharge-process deficiencies, hold times for phone contact, and HR/payroll disputes. These organizational issues appear to drive much of the variability in family experience.

Dining, activities, and environment: Dining services have been reintroduced and described as improving; the dining room reopening is noted positively. The activity program receives consistent praise for providing regular social engagement (bingo, entertainment, themed weeks) and individualized touches. Physical upgrades — renovated rooms, larger beds available, koi pond and courtyard — contribute to a home-like atmosphere. However, reviewers also report inconsistent housekeeping and personal-care routines (for example, irregular showering schedules or delayed positioning), which can affect daily comfort.

Operational and safety patterns: Several reviews identify systemic process gaps rather than single events: outdated paper-based record-keeping and resident-location methods, lapses in personal-item security, sporadic facility-security concerns, and variability in customer-service responsiveness. These patterns suggest the facility is improving in visible areas but still working to modernize back-office systems and strengthen operational reliability across shifts.

What prospective residents and families should do: A visit and targeted questions are recommended. Ask to see recent staffing ratios, examples of care-plan communication, incident-response protocols, and housekeeping/personal-care schedules. Verify dining and activity calendars, inspect renovated rooms and outdoor spaces, and inquire about policies for personal-item security and payroll/HR practices if employment history or staffing stability are priorities. Overall, Cedars shows many concrete strengths in staffing compassion, therapy, activities, and environment, but families should weigh those positives against ongoing operational inconsistencies and verify current practices during a tour.
