    Compassionate nonprofit memory care community

I placed my mom at Advent Square and have been very pleased - the small, non-profit, church-run community feels home-like with loving, attentive staff and an excellent nurse, safe clean apartments (with kitchens), healthy meals, and steady activities like bingo and music. The personalized, family-style memory care, beautiful gardens, and compassionate hospice coordination have given us real peace of mind; I would recommend Advent Square to families.

    Summary of reviews

The overall pattern in these summaries describes a small, church-affiliated, non-profit senior living community that positions itself as a home-like alternative to larger, more commercial providers. Residents and families emphasize the facility’s intimate scale (often 16–24 rooms) and its conversion from church classrooms into sizable, light-filled apartments with private kitchens and bathrooms. The setting is described as clean, well-kept, and complemented by pleasant outdoor spaces and a secure/locked layout, which contributes to a sense of safety and domestic comfort.

Care and staffing are presented as the facility’s principal strengths. Multiple accounts highlight kind, professional, and attentive staff, including a noted nurse and aides who provide personalized, one-on-one attention. Reviewers credit the team with effective memory-care support, timely hospice coordination, and a gentle approach that has helped residents — including those new to memory care — settle and thrive. The community’s church connection also translates into spiritual support for some families and contributes to a family-like culture.

Dining and daily life are described as straightforward and well-managed. The community typically serves two meals per day with attention to healthy choices and occasional specialty meals; many residents expressed satisfaction with portions and variety. Activity programming is oriented toward small-group, familiar offerings — bingo, music, weekend entertainment, movies, Jeopardy-style games, and arts-and-crafts — and staff make an effort to keep residents engaged, including outdoor activities when appropriate.

The primary trade-offs reflect the facility’s small scale and simpler physical plant. Reviewers note that finishes and amenities are basic rather than upscale, and the limited size constrains the breadth of activities and ancillary services available compared with larger senior living communities. Operationally, the community permits on-site smoking, which may affect prospective residents who prefer smoke-free environments. A few comments point to inconsistencies in front-desk responsiveness and visitor-access handling, suggesting potential friction during admissions, tours, or drop-in visits. Because of the small staff roster implied by the community’s size, families should consider whether staffing depth and after-hours coverage meet their expectations.

In sum, Advent Square Senior Living appears well-suited to seniors and families seeking a small, mission-driven, home-like environment with close, personalized care and a strong emphasis on dignity and spiritual connection. It is less well suited to those seeking resort-style amenities, extensive programming, or a strictly smoke-free campus. Prospective residents should tour the facility to assess apartment finishes, confirm staffing and coverage expectations, and discuss visitor-access procedures before deciding.

    About Advent Square Senior Living

Advent Square Senior Living sits in a quiet part of Boca Raton, Florida, sharing a peaceful campus with Advent Church and Advent School, where people have worked for seniors since 1979, and it runs as a non-profit and Christian, though it's open to everyone. The community has 25 ground-floor, one-bedroom apartments with big living areas, full kitchens with glass top stoves and granite counters, walk-in showers, and big windows facing a pretty inner courtyard, so folks who use wheelchairs or walkers won't have trouble getting around, and each home comes with its own heat and air conditioning controls, plus access to Wi-Fi and 22 TV channels. There's a main dining room serving two meals a day, breakfast and an evening meal, with choices for special diets like low sodium or vegetarian, and meals are a short walk for everyone, while laundry and housekeeping, including towels and bedding, plus utilities are all rolled in to a single monthly rent, so you always know what you're paying.

Advent Square runs licensed Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Memory Care in the same place, so there are options as needs change, with no buy-in fees or long contracts, and they keep up with regular state inspections-Medicaid is accepted and the facility is checked monthly by Care.com. There are always staff on-site, including certified nurse assistants 24/7, a licensed nurse during daytime hours, and people awake at all times to help with medication, bathing, dressing, eating, and going to the bathroom. For people needing more support, Advent Square offers memory care, with a secured unit at night and specialized day programs for Alzheimer's and dementia, and can even coordinate doctor visits, pharmacy delivery, home health, hospice, or companion care when families request it.

The place keeps things small and cozy, putting a focus on kindness and helping folks feel at home, so the staff includes a Director and Resident Engagement Manager working to bring activities and company to everyone, whether that's bingo twice a week or weekend music, arts and crafts, writing, games, cooking, club groups for men and women, church services, Bible study, or just casual fun in the garden and walking courtyard. They also allow dogs and cats that weigh under 20 pounds, with lots of chance to join in a Christian caring community, and many apartments have cheerful new renovations to make things bright and easy to move through. Secured doors, a maintained campus, and a calm setting next to neighborhood streets round out the feeling of safety and comfort, with all apartments on one floor and the outdoors close by. People choose Advent Square Senior Living for its gentle spirit, respect for different care needs, and the long tradition of offering a good, supportive home for older adults.
