    Caring staff and beautiful facilities

I moved my mom into Veranda Club and am very pleased. The newly renovated apartments and spotless common areas are beautiful, housekeeping and maintenance go above and beyond, and the grounds (pool, lake, fitness and salon) are wonderful. Staff - especially Lou Kaminow and Jackie Crawford - were patient, informative and genuinely caring, nurses do regular check-ins, and the move-in was seamless. Friendly residents, plentiful activities and thoughtful medical/safety support give us real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Veranda Club presents as a well-appointed, recently renovated senior living community with a broad amenity set and a strong emphasis on social programming. Many reviewers highlight the bright, hotel-like common areas, lakefront grounds, and a wide array of on-site services — pool, theater, salon, fitness center, physical/occupational therapy, restaurant-style dining and bistro options. Apartments are frequently described as spacious, well-lit and modernized, often featuring screened-in porches or terraces and generous storage. The community atmosphere is commonly characterized as welcoming and family-like, with numerous organized outings, live music, religious services and volunteer-led activities that support social engagement.

Care and staff: Strengths include frequent praise for compassionate, personable staff and an attentive nursing presence; several accounts note regular medical check-ins and hands-on nursing support. Admissions and marketing staff are repeatedly singled out as responsive and supportive, which many families found helpful during transitions. At the same time, recurring concerns relate to inconsistent staffing levels and turnover, which some families linked to variability in clinical coverage, delayed medication administration, and uneven aide assignments. Prospective residents seeking higher-acuity or round-the-clock clinical oversight should verify current staffing patterns and nursing coverage before committing.

Dining: Dining is a mixed but prominent theme. A number of reviewers commend chef-driven meals, tailored menu options, cultural dishes, and multiple dining venues. However, other families report inconsistent meal quality, limited menu variety at certain times, slow service during busy periods, and occasional continuity issues (including use of takeout-style delivery during service interruptions). These patterns suggest that dining experience may depend on timing, staffing, and whether one dines in independent or assisted areas.

Activities and social life: The activity program is a clear strength on the independent-living side — regular entertainment, excursions, exercise classes, religious services, and social events contribute to an engaged resident life. Several comments indicate less robust or less interactive programming on the assisted-living side, and a smaller subset of residents described limited day-to-day engagement. Families should review specific activity schedules and compare programming between wings if social stimulation is a priority.

Facilities and maintenance: Renovations and modern upgrades are highlighted frequently and have noticeably improved many areas; fresh carpeting, new furniture and updated fitness and dining spaces are common positives. Conversely, the renovation process itself has produced disruption for some residents. Several reviews describe maintenance-response delays, lingering cleanliness and odor concerns in portions of the building, and isolated pest-control issues. These items indicate variable performance on operational upkeep in pockets of the campus.

Management and operational patterns: Admissions and frontline staff receive consistent positive mention, and many families cite individual staff members by name for excellent service. Nevertheless, reviewers also raise facility-level concerns: unclear billing practices and unexpected fees, slow business-office responsiveness, and communication lapses with families (including notifications about hospitalizations or care changes). A small number of reviewers raised serious allegations related to financial irregularities and theft; while these appear less common, they represent issues that warrant direct inquiry during a visit.

Notable patterns and recommendations: Veranda Club offers a strong set of physical amenities, a lively independent-living social environment, and many reports of attentive, compassionate caregivers. The main operational caveats are variability: staffing consistency, clinical coverage for higher-acuity needs, dining service reliability, maintenance responsiveness, and management communication. Prospective residents and families should tour multiple apartments (independent and assisted wings), ask for up-to-date staffing and nursing-coverage schedules, request recent menus and activity calendars, review the resident contract and billing policies in detail, and inquire about the timeline for any ongoing renovations. Doing so will help align expectations with the areas of strength (amenities, community life, renovated spaces) and address the documented operational weaknesses before making a decision.

    About Veranda Club

Veranda Club sits at 6061 Palmetto Cir N in Boca Raton, Florida, among lakeside views and green paths, and you'll find residents with their pets relaxing on private screened-in balconies with comfy seats and good views, while the modern kitchens inside feature white shaker cabinets, stainless steel appliances, granite counters, a built-in lowering sink, and an easy-to-reach design that works for most everyone, and you notice bedrooms with warm lighting and helpful things like grab bars, shower seats, and roomy vanities too, all tied together with accessible bathrooms that have shower seats, built-in shelves, and solid grab bars for safety. Residents get to enjoy a bright, spacious common area with nice decor and plenty of sunlight, plus a welcoming dining room that's full of natural light and feels pretty relaxed, and if someone wants to spend time outside, there's a heated pool and spa with comfy chairs and umbrellas for shade, surrounded by well-kept lawns and flowering plants. The entrance stands out with a white-and-gray look accented by lush landscaping and a paved driveway that makes coming and going easy.

Inside Veranda Club, there are independent living apartments and options for assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing, so someone can stay put as their needs change, and everything's on one campus, which a lot of people find comforting, especially as staff help with daily activities for assisted living like medication, dressing, or getting ready each day. If people just want to take it easy without chores, the community staff handle housekeeping, laundry, yard work, and even offer meals in the Sensations Dining area with an executive chef who can meet dietary needs and serve up fresh food from different cuisines with table service, plus weekly religious services, on-site beauty salon, barber shop, and spa with massage for those who like to keep to their routine. Residents have access to wellness programs for physical and mental health, organized social events, holiday parties, and happy hours, and excursions to shopping, appointments, and even Broadway shows at the Kravis Center, with licensed drivers offering rides when needed.

Everyone who lives here gets to use the heated pool, outdoor spa, TV space, BBQ area, and a fireplace, and there's parking for residents, plus free transportation for medical visits or just out-and-about trips, and people with pets are welcome throughout the community. You can take a video or virtual tour if you're considering a move. The place keeps a steady schedule of social, educational, and entertainment activities, which gives people a lot of ways to meet others and keep busy, and you can find amenities like resident parking, concierge service, and maintenance staff ready to help when little things come up. People find comfort here especially since the team can help with memory issues like Alzheimer's, rehab needs, adult day care, or just a social place for those not ready for assistance, and they offer hospice, respite care, and support for aging in place, so someone can get the help needed for as long as wanted, all right where they started. The facility has an average rating of 3.7 out of 23 reviews, which could matter when making a choice. Veranda Club offers a practical range of living options, nice amenities, and help with daily needs, which suits many people who want an active and comfortable retirement in Boca Raton.
