    Private golf, active resort living

I live here and couldn't be happier - the private executive golf bundled with ownership is the best deal in SW Florida, and the renovated course, expanded tennis courts, pools and busy activity calendar mean there's always something to do. Buildings and grounds are immaculate, staff and residents are friendly and welcoming, and The Tee Room and central patio make socializing easy. Quiet, safe and well-run - a fantastic place to live and play.

    Summary of reviews

Seven Lakes Golf & Tennis Community is portrayed primarily as a lifestyle-oriented, gated golf community with a strong emphasis on golf and racquet sports. The community's defining strengths are its golf assets — a recently renovated course with updated cart paths, greens and fairways, fast greens and a challenging executive layout — and its bundled private-course ownership model that includes resident-play privileges and prevalent use of personal carts. Tennis facilities have also been renovated and expanded, and groundskeeping and course conditioning receive consistent positive comments.

The community offers a broad range of on-site amenities beyond golf and tennis: multiple pools, patio seating with BBQ facilities, an active activities program, and an on-site restaurant (The Tee Room) that functions as a social hub. Residents describe the social atmosphere as friendly and welcoming, with numerous organized activities, music and social events contributing to an engaged lifestyle. The gated entry and courteous gate staff are noted as positive contributors to a sense of security.

Staff and operational feedback is mixed. Several reviews praise helpful and gracious front-line staff and the social service aspects of the community, while others raise concerns about administrative responsiveness, inconsistent behavior and communication tone from certain personnel, and specific friction points with golf operations. There are also comments indicating problems within administrative departments, particularly finance, that point to a negative workplace culture and strained interactions between staff and residents or contractors.

Dining impressions vary: the on-site restaurant is cited as a valued amenity and social venue, but food quality appears inconsistent — examples include bland preparations and uneven salad/soup quality — suggesting variability in culinary execution or quality control. Activity participation sometimes incurs additional fees, and reviewers note that some services and events are not always included in dues.

Management and governance emerge as recurring concerns. Reviewers indicate high homeowners' association and ancillary fees, occasional fee increases, and perceptions that fee escalation is not always matched by visible improvements. There are also comments about inconsistent rule enforcement, perceived cliquishness in governance, and relatively high board or administrative compensation. These operational themes have contributed to concerns about long-term property value trends for some owners.

Facility condition is generally described as well maintained in outdoor and recreational spaces, though a number of comments point to aging infrastructure and cosmetic maintenance needs in some buildings (neutral/clinical appearance, need for repainting). Overall, the community appeals strongly to active golfers and socially oriented older adults seeking a private-course lifestyle; prospective residents should weigh the high cost of ownership and observed management/governance issues alongside the high-quality recreational offerings and active resident community.

About Seven Lakes Golf & Tennis Community

Seven Lakes Golf & Tennis Community sits in Fort Myers, Florida, in a gated area with amenities for people aged 55 and older who want an active lifestyle, and the whole place is set up around its golf course and tennis courts, both of which are only for residents and their guests, so you won't find crowds unless they're from inside the gates. The golf course there, called Seven Lakes Golf Course, is a private, member-owned, executive-style, 18-hole place that got a redesign from golf architect Kipp Schulties, and it's about 2,923 yards from the back tees with a par-60 layout; this means the rounds go fast but you still get challenged by water hazards, narrow fairways, bunkers, and well-kept Bermuda grass greens and fairways. They mention signature holes, like hole 7 where you shoot over water, and hole 14 with a tough, tight spot to land your shot thanks to bunkers and trees, and the whole course is lined with mature trees, pretty ponds, and white-sand features for a relaxing but interesting game. If you live here, HOA fees cover a bundled golf membership, so you can play as much as you like with no extra green or trail fees, and the course offers practice facilities, a pro shop, golf leagues for all skill levels, golf ball retrieval by Golf Ball Paul's Inc., and a Head Golf Professional on staff. The tennis community has a modern setup too, with courts and a Lifestyle Director on site organizing activities, plus you'll find pickleball, bocce, shuffleboard, and a fitness center if you prefer something besides golf or tennis, and there's even a woodshop, billiards room, pavilion for gatherings, the Seven Lakes Bus for getting around, and pools for swimming. People often gather at the Tee Room for a meal or drink, and there's a calendar full of social and entertainment events, and the community sits close to restaurants and places for fun outside the gates as well. Most community services, like water, sewer, and cable TV, get covered by the regular fees people pay, and the place stays run smoothly thanks to a team with a General Manager and professional staff focused on safety and keeping up the grounds in good shape, and with a newsletter and up-to-date website, residents can stay informed about what's going on in their neighborhood.
