    Compassionate care, independence, lifelong friends

As a long-term resident at Dayspring, I've received compassionate, even life-saving care from Doug Adkins and an attentive staff who truly listen. The steady routine, nurse-on-duty, meaningful activities and hospitalization support give me independence in my own apartment, stability, and peace of mind on a limited budget. I've made lifelong friends among the staff, communication and responsiveness are exemplary, and this feels like my forever home - my "high school of living." I'm deeply grateful; there's small room to improve, but I wholeheartedly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Dayspring Village is described primarily as a warm, relationship-driven assisted living community with a noticeable emphasis on continuity of care and long-term residency. Reviewers frequently highlight compassionate, attentive staff and stable leadership as central strengths; several accounts reference long-standing friendships between residents and staff, and family members describe a sense of safety and peace of mind. The community houses independent apartment units, which many residents value for maintaining autonomy while receiving on-site support.

Clinical care and staffing are recurring positive themes. Reviewers cite personalized, structured care plans and praise staff responsiveness, including on-site nursing coverage and assistance during hospital transitions. Some accounts characterize care as lifesaving, and families note clear communication from management and nursing staff during acute events. There is particular mention of experience supporting adults with mental health needs, with staff routines and structure singled out as a good fit for that population.

Daily life is portrayed as active and socially oriented. The facility appears to offer a range of social opportunities and activities that contribute to residents’ sense of purpose and community; reviewers describe meaningful days and friendships formed within the home. The faith-based character of the community is noted as important to some residents and families, adding to the cultural fit for those seeking such programming. Affordability and the potential to be a long-term, “forever” home were also emphasized by reviewers on limited budgets.

Management and leadership receive favorable comments for attentiveness and communication. Named leadership is often described as engaged and responsive to concerns, and families report that staff and ownership address issues when raised. That said, there are isolated negative impressions: at least one reviewer raised sanitation and cleanliness concerns, and a small number of accounts suggest that resident experience can be variable. These latter points indicate that while many families report high satisfaction, impressions may differ between households.

For prospective residents and families, the notable patterns are clear: Dayspring Village appears to excel in staff continuity, relationship-centered care, predictable routines, and social engagement, which can be particularly beneficial for residents requiring structured support. Important cautions are sanitation/cleanliness consistency and the potential for variable individual experiences; visitors should observe housekeeping standards and speak directly with management about care routines and incident-response practices during a tour. Overall, the balance of comments suggests a community that many find compassionate and reliable, but that would benefit from transparent discussion about any cleanliness concerns and how the facility monitors resident satisfaction over time.

    About Dayspring Village

Dayspring Village sits in a quiet rural area and has served adults with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders since 1987, operating as a state-licensed Limited Mental Health Assisted Living Facility (AL #5766, AHCA License 5766) with 126 beds, and they also call themselves a family-focused facility where the staff really knows their work and tries to help both residents and their families. The Max Adkins Center is part of Dayspring Village, which draws on a mission to support adults with these mental health needs, and they use both traditional and non-traditional services, keeping things structured so residents can improve their daily living skills. The place has parking for visitors, it's fully wheelchair accessible, and every room has a private bathroom, television, air conditioner, and microwave oven, though some rooms are semi-private. Residents can expect three meals a day in dining rooms, along with help for personal care, medication management, laundry, housekeeping, money management, and supervised transportation, while activities include outings like field trips and shopping, regular picnics, holiday parties, and a Christian life ministry. For health, they provide on-site case management, crisis assessment, weight checks, laboratory services, Assertive Community Treatment, Physical Activity Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Group Therapy, Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment, Psychotropic Medication, and specialized programs for people with PTSD, military families, veterans, senior citizens, people with serious mental illness, and legal advocacy when needed. They also offer nursing home services, independent living, assisted living, continuing care retirement community programs, and memory care, and they've got smoking areas outdoors for those who need them. The Max Adkins Center provides community-based personal care and emphasizes helping each individual reduce symptoms and build life skills through ongoing support and redirection, offering residential treatment for addiction and mental health with supervised detox and inpatient rehab for things like alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids, including special court-ordered options if needed, plus co-occurring disorder care for those dealing with both mental health and substance abuse. Payment options are broad, with Dayspring Village accepting Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, state welfare and corrections funds, private insurance, self-pay, and Department of Veterans Affairs funds. Each resident sees a robust activity program with scheduled visits for families, supervised shopping, and ongoing education opportunities like GED or college courses. Common areas are open to all, making it easy to meet others. The facility is connected to groups like the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Amelia Island Fernandina Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the Florida Health Care Association, reflecting a commitment to both quality and a wide local network, and they've always kept their focus on care and structure instead of flashy extras.
