    Caring staff and wonderful amenities

My mom moved into this community near Jacksonville and I'm very pleased. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, meals are wonderful in a beautiful dining room overlooking Brooklyn Lake, and my mom stays busy with game nights, planned activities, church services, and outings - plus there's a pool, gym, library and on-site transportation. The apartment has a large bedroom and living area, it's immaculate and reasonably priced, and my mom feels well cared for.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Park of the Palms, Inc. is positive, with frequent praise for the staff, dining, scenic setting, and value. Many reviewers emphasize that residents are happy, busy, and well cared for. Comments repeatedly highlight a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels more like a small town or close-knit community than an institutional setting. Cleanliness and attentiveness are recurring themes: reviewers describe the campus and rooms as immaculate and staff as tremendously helpful and personally attentive.

Care quality and medical services receive strong mentions. In addition to attentive caregiving staff, the facility is noted as offering on-site doctor access, emergency care capabilities, and hospice support. Reviewers who mention these services report confidence in the medical support available on-site. This combination of personalized attention and on-campus medical resources appears to be a major selling point for families seeking continuity of care.

Dining and food quality are another consistently praised area. Multiple reviews describe the food as "wonderful" or "very good," and several note that there is plenty of food and that residents eat well. The dining room is frequently singled out for its pleasant setting, with many reviewers noting a view overlooking the lake, which contributes to a more upscale dining experience. Some reviewers also mention optional meal service, indicating flexibility for residents who may prefer to manage some meals independently.

Amenities and the physical environment are generally described favorably. The property benefits from a scenic lakeside setting (Brooklyn Lake), mature trees, picnic areas, and a swimming pool. Onsite amenities such as a library, gym/fitness room, and church services contribute to resident engagement and comfort. Several reviewers mention luxury hotelโ€“style rooms in some parts of the facility and larger bedrooms or living areas in certain units, reinforcing a sense of pleasant, homelike accommodations in many cases.

However, there are notable caveats and patterns of concern. A recurring point is variability: while some units are described as spacious or luxury-style, other reviews indicate that rooms can be smaller than at comparable facilities and that some units have small kitchens. Reviewers describe the facility overall as "a little dated," suggesting that portions of the campus may show their age even if well maintained. The communityโ€™s smaller size is a double-edged sword: it supports a close, welcoming atmosphere but may limit the breadth of social options and lead to activities being run in smaller groups.

Activity participation is another mixed area. The facility offers planned activities, game nights, and regular events, and many residents are described as busy and engaged. Nevertheless, reviewers also point out that mobility limitations among some residents can restrict participation, and that activities are often small-group in scale. Prospective residents who are highly active or seeking a broad variety of large-group programming may find the offerings more modest than at larger communities.

Price and value stand out as positives: multiple reviewers describe Park of the Palms as reasonably priced or lower cost than comparable places, while still delivering strong food, helpful staff, and useful amenities. Tours and tour guides are noted as particularly helpful in evaluating the fit. Based on the reviews, prospective residents and families should prioritize an in-person visit to confirm unit size and layout, check specific amenity conditions, ask about accommodations for mobility limitations, and clarify which medical services are available on-site. Overall, the facility tends to score highly for staff quality, dining, cleanliness, and value, with trade-offs around variable room sizes, a somewhat dated feel in places, and a smaller-scale activity program.

About Park of the Palms, Inc

Park of the Palms, Inc sits about 11 miles from Starke, Florida, on a 25-acre campus that fronts Lake Brooklyn, where folks can fish or take peaceful walks on the trails, and you see plenty of places to ride bikes or enjoy time by the lake, and there's an RV lot for visitors who like the outdoors. The community offers both independent living and a 40-bed assisted living facility called Willey Manor, which has a caring staff of CNAs and nurses providing help with medication, bathing, dressing, and other daily tasks around the clock. Room choices include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts with equipped kitchens and sunrooms, so residents can pick the space that fits them best.

Residents can join fitness classes, art sessions, and social events, or go on organized outings to stay active and engaged, and the Wellness Center gives everyone a chance to exercise either alone or with a therapist. The Weir Dining Room serves healthy, high-quality meals that fit different diets or doctor's orders, and guests can look out at Brooklyn Lake while they eat. There's a heated pool, shuffleboard courts, a library, and spaces for group gatherings. Park of the Palms Church hosts two services each week for those who want spiritual connection.

Park of the Palms works as a continuing care community, offering more than basic assisted living, since folks can get memory care, nursing care, home care, hospice care, skilled nursing, respite care, and even adult daycare services right on campus or in partnership with local agencies. Staff help residents with trips to medical appointments and assist with medical equipment. The team works with home health agencies for physical, speech, or occupational therapy, and partners with hospice to let people stay at the facility through the end of life.

Short-term visitors can stay in the hotel-style rooms at Gilbert Lodge, which also doubles as an event space and hospitality suite for groups. Community ratings stand at 8.8 and 9.2 out of 10, making Park of the Palms the second highest-rated facility in its city. Meals, activities, daily help, and spiritual support make up life here, and the campus gives residents many choices for how they want to live and age in place.
