    Warm home-like attentive personalized care

My mom stayed here and I couldn't be happier - Will and Linda Gifford run a warm, home-like place with attentive, professional staff who feel like family. Meals are made from scratch with organic veggies, there are crafts, Bingo and a lovely garden, and staff caught an anemia issue and arranged supplements so she got personalized, high-quality TLC in a clean, safe private room with a bath. I felt at ease the whole time and highly recommend this loving, competent home.

    Summary of reviews

TLC Family Care Home is described primarily as a small, home-like assisted living option with strengths in personalized attention, warm leadership, and a family-oriented caregiving approach. Several reviewers praised the owners by name and described staff as compassionate and attentive; families reported thoughtful daily oversight, individualized care plans, and clinical follow-up (for example, medical review of lab work that led to treatment adjustments). The home-like atmosphere and private-room model contribute to a sense of comfort for many residents, and reviewers commonly described residents as relaxed and socially engaged.

Dining and activities are notable strengths. Meals are frequently described as scratch-made and health-focused, using fresh or organic produce, and there is an active activities program (an activities director, crafts, Bingo) that promotes engagement. Outdoor amenities include a good-sized garden that families found appealing. These elements support a social, resident-centered day-to-day experience that many families found reassuring.

Operational limitations surfaced repeatedly and can affect suitability depending on a prospective resident's needs. The facility operates with relatively small staffing levels; reviewers raised concerns about limited caregiver presence and the availability of around-the-clock or overnight coverage. Those needs, along with some bathroom and room-layout issues and limited indoor walking space, suggest the site is better suited to residents who require minimal to moderate assistance rather than intensive mobility or complex medical care.

Facility condition and environment received mixed comments. Some described bright, comfortable private accommodations and a clean, safe environment, while others noted uneven maintenance, a darker atmosphere in parts of the building, and sanitation/odor-control issues tied to pets and animal management. These are practical considerations for families sensitive to allergies, strong scents, or who prefer minimal animal presence in shared spaces.

Management and billing practices are another recurrent theme. Several families noted a high upfront fee and a fee structure that appears designed for long-term stays; disputes over prorating and perceived rigidity in fee policy were explicitly mentioned. Prospective residents and their decision-makers should request clear, written explanations of upfront costs, refund/prorating policies, and the expected minimum stay duration before committing.

Overall, TLC Family Care Home appears to offer high-touch, individualized caregiving with strong interpersonal relationships between staff and residents, and a robust dining and activities program. However, it may be less appropriate for individuals requiring consistent overnight staffing, significant mobility support, or for families who have concerns about pet presence, facility ambiance, or rigid financial terms. Families should weigh the positive interpersonal and clinical aspects against the operational limitations and clarify staffing coverage and fee details during visits.

    About TLC Family Care Home

TLC Family Care Home sits in the Bassville Park section of Leesburg, in Lake County, Florida, and runs as a small, six-bed assisted living facility that gives seniors a family-style home instead of a big community, which many people find quieter and more personal, and the owners, Will and Linda Gifford, both take an active role in care. This home offers help for elderly and disabled people who need some support with daily living, and the staff is available at all hours, every day, which means residents always have someone around in emergencies or if they need something during the day or night, and there are licensed nurses in the home since the facility holds a Florida State Limited Nursing Services (LNS) License. Each resident gets a personalized care plan, and the staff helps with things like taking the right medicine, getting to the bathroom, bathing, eating, and managing diabetes or incontinence if needed, and the home is set up to help people who use a wheelchair or who may need a hand moving around. Meals are provided daily, and there are dining options to fit individual needs, and the home makes sure residents have healthy eating choices. TLC Family Care Home accepts Medicaid, which may make it more affordable for some families. The staff runs a robust activities program, so residents can enjoy arts and crafts, and there are different social, educational, and fun events planned to help everyone stay active and feel good. The home has a holistic style, so they try to support mind, body, soul, and spirit, and want to create a loving place that feels like a real family, where residents and caregivers form strong bonds, and where people can feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while keeping as much independence as possible. The home pays attention to small details, keeps things clean, and gets good marks for staff quality, which matters when families want peace of mind. TLC Family Care Home provides options for people who want to stay a short time for respite care or need non-ambulatory or diabetic support, so the staff is friendly and helpful with these services, and amenities focus on comfort and well-being, which makes this home a good choice for people who want a smaller, nurturing setting.
