    Compassionate staff, excellent rehab, recommended

I'm very pleased with the compassionate, professional staff and family-like atmosphere; the facility is spotless, homey, and well-maintained. The rehab team got my grandpa back on his feet-he sings and dances again-and engaging activities, tasty meals, and attentive nurses gave us real peace of mind. Administration was responsive, staff treated us like family, and I highly recommend this caring place.

    Summary of reviews

The Palace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center elicits strongly polarized impressions. A substantial portion of reviewers praise the facility’s clinical strengths: many families emphasize compassionate, attentive nursing staff and highly regarded physical and occupational therapy that produced measurable rehabilitation gains. Social services and admissions staff are frequently characterized as helpful and proactive, and the activities program is noted for being broad, family-inclusive and engaging. Multiple comments highlight bilingual staff availability, a welcoming reception area, pleasant common spaces and a sense of community that gives families reassurance and peace of mind.

At the same time, there is a recurring set of operational concerns that prospective families should evaluate. Cleanliness and sanitation in resident rooms and bathrooms are described inconsistently across accounts, and maintenance of some older furnishings and equipment is an issue. Several reviews describe lapses in overnight monitoring or staffing coverage and delays in responding to acute clinical changes; those accounts raise questions about clinical-incident response protocols and post-event family communication. There are also repeated concerns about medication-administration practices and variability in therapy scheduling or therapist follow-through, even as the overall rehab program is often praised.

Dining and ancillary services show mixed performance: while some families note nutritious meals and personalized dietitian support, others cite inconsistent meal quality, limited snack availability, or delayed service. Communication and professionalism are generally strengths but not uniformly so; a number of reviewers report language barriers, front-desk availability issues, and occasions of insensitive staff conduct or privacy intrusions. Administrative themes include responsive admissions and helpful managers in many cases, yet some families perceive a strong focus on insurance/payment procedures and uneven follow-up after serious incidents.

For prospective residents and families: plan a multi-hour visit at different times of day and on an evening or weekend to observe staffing levels, mealtime service, and cleaning/maintenance routines. Ask for current staffing ratios, overnight monitoring protocols, medication-administration policies, and how the facility communicates with families after a clinical incident. Review the therapy schedule and continuity expectations, request recent inspection or survey results, and discuss smoking/oxygen-safety measures if relevant. The Palace demonstrates clear strengths in rehabilitation, activities, and compassionate caregiving; however, variability in cleanliness, staffing consistency, communication, and facilities upkeep suggests careful, targeted inquiry during tours and before placement.

About The Palace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

The Palace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center sits in West Kendall, Miami, right there on SW 84th St, offering a wide range of care for seniors, whether folks need independent living, assisted living, memory care, or help with daily activities like dressing, bathing, or taking medicines, and it's a 180-bed skilled nursing and rehab center that serves people who have conditions like Alzheimer's or dementia and those needing short-term or long-term rehabilitation after a hospital stay. You find around-the-clock supervision and nursing care, staff who help with everything from meals and grooming to physical, occupational, speech, and even respiratory therapy, including IV therapy and wound care, plus there's an in-house registered dietitian who oversees daily menus, snacks, and an on-site meal program, usually with one or two prepared meals each day. The building includes hurricane impact glass, emergency generators, landscaped surroundings, outdoor courtyards, and a dedicated rehab area with flatscreens, and you'll see they provide laundry, housekeeping, an ice cream parlor, as well as daily activities and programming. The place has a five-star CMS rating, is Joint Commission accredited, got the Governor's Gold Seal Award, and earned recognition from U.S. News & World Report for being top-rated, and you'll also find it accepts Medicare, Medicaid, Hospice, and some HMO plans. The facility works as a "step-down hospital" with a Sub-Acute Unit and comprehensive therapy for patients who are moving from hospital to home or need ongoing skilled nursing, making it suitable for folks with high care needs or those seeking rehab before going back home, plus there's a secured memory care section for people with Alzheimer's or dementia and staff ready to help anytime, and they've got suites for active seniors in Palace Suites apartments, as well as catered living and independent options for those over 55. Security features include an emergency response system and 24-hour visitor access, and the grounds focus on comfort and safety while helping residents and families with long-term care planning, insurance guidance, and support for caregivers, and through all of this they make things simple to understand, focusing on steady care rather than adding lots of extra frills.
