    Beautiful memory care, attentive staff

My mom lives here and I'm very pleased - the facility is beautiful, spotless and bright with great amenities and chef-prepared meals. The staff are genuinely caring, attentive and knowledgeable in memory care (Theda and Kimberly stood out), and they treat residents like family, which gives me real peace of mind. Engaging activities, thoughtful design and clear communication make this a warm, home-like place I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: CERTUS Premier Memory Care Living presents as a modern, well-appointed memory-care community with many features families value for dementia care. Reviewers consistently highlight a bright, restaurant-style environment, chef-driven dining, and a wide set of amenities (salon, therapy gym, cinema, courtyards) that support quality of life. The community model emphasizes small-group, home-like neighborhoods and dementia-focused environmental cues (door picture identification, cushioned flooring, secure circulation) intended to reduce disorientation.

Care and staff: Many families praise direct-care staff as compassionate, personable, and skilled with dementia techniques; several accounts describe improved resident grooming, mood, and sleep after placement. Reviewers also single out engaged activity staff and standout caregivers who build strong relationships. At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns: perceived understaffing at times, inconsistent personal-care execution (bathing, grooming, laundry handling), and variable clinical coordination with families — particularly around hospice, prescriptions, and medication information. There are also multiple notes raising concerns about medication-management practices and the need for clearer clinical documentation and communication.

Dining and activities: Dining is frequently cited as a strength — chef-prepared meals, varied menus, and restaurant-style service receive positive comments. Programming is broad, including cooking demonstrations, chair yoga, pet therapy, and social events; activity directors are often praised. However, several families described inconsistent engagement quality, where scheduled activities or the level of resident participation varied between units or times, indicating differences in execution rather than lack of programming.

Facilities and safety: The building and grounds are described as bright, new, and well maintained, with specific praise for cleanliness, spacious private rooms, and dementia-safe design elements. Amenities such as on-site therapy, mobile dental/podiatry, and salon services add convenience. Notwithstanding these strengths, reviewers raised safety and operational concerns: nighttime wandering risks tied to unsecured access in some areas, laundry and sanitation process issues, and notable worries about infection-control and crisis-response procedures during past events.

Management, billing, and transparency: Management-related themes are mixed. Some families find administration responsive and communicative, while others report inconsistent follow-up, delayed evaluations, and difficulty obtaining clinical information. Pricing is another consistent pattern: the community is perceived as expensive, with documented fee increases and additional ancillary charges for items and services that some families found unexpected. There are also serious family complaints about billing practices following a resident's death; such allegations underscore the importance of clear contract terms, transparent billing policies, and proactive family communication.

Notable patterns and recommendations for prospective families: CERTUS appears to offer strong environmental design, robust amenities, and many dedicated frontline caregivers experienced in dementia care. Prospective residents and families should, however, probe operational areas during tours and admissions: clarify all fee components and billing policies (including post-discharge procedures), ask for examples of staffing levels by shift, request written protocols for medication management and infection/crisis response, and review laundry and personal-care procedures. Visiting during different times of day (including evenings) can help assess nighttime staffing and activity engagement. Overall, the community offers many strengths for memory-care residents but also exhibits variability in management communication and operational consistency that families should evaluate directly prior to placement.
