    Resort waterfront community, worry free

I've lived here 1.5 years and am very satisfied. The resort-like waterfront campus, beautiful residences and immaculate grounds pair with outstanding dining, abundant amenities (restaurants, pool, fitness, trips) and a full health-care continuum; staff and residents are warm and welcoming. It's somewhat pricey and availability is limited, but for active, worry-free living this community delivers.

    Summary of reviews

Sandhill Cove presents as a full-service Life Care community with broad strengths in clinical access, staffing, dining and activities. The facility offers on-site clinical capabilities (an on-campus medical team, nurse-practitioner visits, therapists, a clinic and accessible rehab services) and maintains a visible continuum of care from independent living through assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. Several comments emphasize smooth, well-coordinated transitions when residents need higher-level services and note 24-hour emergency response and in-home nursing/therapy options that support aging-in-place.

Staffing and resident relations are recurrent positives. Long-tenured, engaged employees and a consistent emphasis on resident inclusion (committees, resident input, attentive marketing/tour staff) create a family-like atmosphere for many residents. The life-enrichment team programs a wide variety of activities — from fitness classes and chair yoga to games, clubs, outings and hobby groups — that support social engagement and a high level of day-to-day activity. Resident-led traditions, frequent socials (happy hours, monthly dinners), and organized events contribute to a strong sense of community.

Dining and hospitality are frequently highlighted as distinguishing features. The community supports multiple dining venues with high-quality menus, special-event meals, gluten-free options and a professional service model. Housekeeping, maintenance, concierge services and resort-style amenities (pool, salon, fitness facilities, shuttle) underwrite a low-maintenance, “worry-free” lifestyle for residents.

The campus and facilities are consistently described as well maintained, attractive and waterfront-oriented, with river and pond views, landscaped grounds, guest rooms and a variety of residence types (apartments, villas). Ancillary offerings such as a beauty salon, on-site events venue and philanthropic programs add to the community’s breadth of services.

Areas to weigh carefully when evaluating Sandhill Cove include cost, availability and occasional operational concerns. The community is positioned at a higher price point with continuing-care fees; unit availability is constrained enough to require a Captain’s Club or waitlist for some buyers. A small number of comments express concerns about management responsiveness, staff conduct or policy enforcement — including one allegation of inappropriate conduct that prospective families may wish to investigate further through direct questions and reference checks. These points suggest variability in individual experience and the advisability of an in-person assessment focused on current staffing, policy enforcement (visitor rules, event management) and the status of waitlists or special programs.

Overall, prospective residents and families can expect a service-rich, highly social retirement community with strong clinical supports and polished hospitality offerings. To make an informed decision, visitors should tour multiple residence types, sample dining, review contract and fee structures carefully, ask about waitlist timelines and enforcement of community policies, and speak with current residents about recent operational consistency and management responsiveness.

    About Sandhill Cove Retirement Living

Sandhill Cove Retirement Living sits on the waterfront in Palm City, Florida, with views of the South Fork of the St. Lucie River and stretches out over 36 landscaped acres where you'd see walking trails, gardens, and a big clubhouse with pool, fitness center, croquet, and places to do yoga or Tai Chi. The place is made for folks age 55 and up who want maintenance-free living, and there are lots of living choices, like apartments, cottages, and villas, with some floor plans going from around 775 to 1,683 square feet, with options for two bedrooms and custom upgrades, and the assisted living units run a bit smaller, with studios or one-bedroom layouts, some from 144 to 200 square feet. Sandhill Cove is a LifeCare® community, and it's the only one like it in Martin County, so people can plan for changing health needs over time since independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing home, rehabilitation, and respite care all sit together on the same campus, with a focus on making moves between types of care as smooth as possible.

The health center is called Water's Edge Health and Rehabilitation, and it's got round-the-clock licensed nurses and aides. The Medicare- and Medicaid-certified facility holds a 5-star CMS rating and offers private and semi-private nursing beds, along with 11 to 20 memory care beds in a secure and calming area for those living with dementia or Alzheimer's. Memory care has the Heartfelt Connections - A Memory Care Program®, which tailors daily care to each person's history and needs. People can hire their own in-home aides if they pick someone from the approved list. The place allows direct entry to assisted living where someone can get help with bathing, dressing, and medication management right away, and you can move in at current market rates. Assisted living offers 11 to 20 licensed residences, with personal support and easy-access walk-in showers for safety, while skilled nursing and physical therapy are ready for more complex needs.

Monthly costs for singles run from $3,632 up to $5,891 and for couples from $5,476 up to $7,735, and entry fees go between $179,500 and $631,500 depending on the floor plan and refund option, with contracts offering Lifecare (Type A) choices with declining balance or 75% refund options. The community's all-inclusive fees cover meals-three each day, with chef-prepared choices-maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, utilities, and use of the amenities like the fitness center, pool, scheduled group trips, wellness programs, and even partnership golf at the Crane Watch Club. The on-site services include concierge assistance, a hair salon, bank/ATM access, and private dining for family gatherings. There's fast internet, pet-friendly rules, handicap accessibility, and a smart emergency response system in each home for safety.

People living here get to use the Assistance in Living Navigator to help plan care, and there's always a licensed team checking in on health and medications, keeping things personalized around each resident's needs. Memory care and skilled nursing have secure settings to help folks with Alzheimer's or dementia stay safe, and meals, snacks, and wellness programs are part of daily life, along with events, movie nights in a cozy theater, and engaging programs that aim to keep everyone active mentally, physically, and socially. The grounds and buildings stay in good shape, and recognition like the Best of Senior Living Award points to the community's efforts in care and support. Sandhill Cove Retirement Living is managed by Life Care Services LLC, with a focus on practical help, health, daily living, and meaningful activities for all who live there.
