    Warm, caring, clean family community

I stayed five months and my family and I were very happy with the warm, family-run atmosphere. Staff were attentive, caring, and communicative-especially Lynn Baird and administrator Myra Perez-Fliegler-and the facility was consistently clean and well kept. The dining room (with garden view) served delicious meals and the small community felt safe, friendly, and genuinely caring; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a polarized picture of Active Senior Living Residence. On the positive side, many reviewers describe a small, family-run community with an inviting, home-like atmosphere. Staff and some administrators are repeatedly characterized as compassionate, knowledgeable, and accessible; specific leaders (for example, an administrator named Myra Perez‑Fliegler and staff such as Lynn Baird) receive praise for responsiveness and clear family communication. The dining area and garden view are often highlighted as pleasant features, and several residents and families describe home-style meals and an engaged, social communal dining experience. For some long-term residents the facility is perceived as safe, comfortable, and well maintained.

However, a distinct set of operational concerns recurs across other reviews. The most prominent theme is staffing: reviewers cite chronic understaffing or unpredictable staffing levels that translate into long waits for assistance, delayed responses to call lights, and inconsistent delivery of routine personal-care tasks. Related to these issues are complaints about incontinence‑care delays and broader sanitation concerns in some resident rooms and common areas. Several reviews also describe inconsistencies in meal quality and in the continuity of meal service, and a few raise pest‑control concerns and property-management gaps (missing clothing or personal items).

Facility infrastructure and safety practices are another mixed area. While common areas are described as bright and cheerful by some families, there are also reports indicating safety- and maintenance-related gaps (for example, handrail maintenance and general equipment oversight). Activity programming appears adequate for a small community but limited compared with larger facilities; reviewers who prioritize frequent, varied programming may find offerings sparse. Communication is generally highlighted as a strength when administration is responsive, but several reviewers report problems with phone responsiveness and inconsistent follow-through.

Notable patterns include a sharp divergence between very positive, long-term resident experiences and accounts of significant care lapses that prompted families to file formal complaints or move relatives out. A few reviewers referenced serious outcomes after periods of poor responsiveness, which suggests operational risks when staffing or management practices slip. Conversely, multiple accounts describe strong family‑staff relationships and a hands-on management style that can produce high satisfaction when consistently applied.

For prospective residents and families: the facility shows strengths typical of a small, family-operated residence—personalized attention, a social dining environment, and accessible leadership—but also displays recurring operational vulnerabilities, especially around staffing levels, timeliness of assistance, sanitation in some areas, and property management. An in-person visit focused on current staffing ratios, response-time metrics, sanitation protocols, pest-control documentation, and recent inspection or complaint history is recommended. Asking about recent ownership or management changes and speaking directly with current families can help gauge whether praised practices are sustained or if the negative patterns are persistent.

    About Active Senior Living Residence

Active Senior Living Residence is a private, family-run assisted living community in Tamarac, FL, that focuses on supporting seniors in a friendly and caring environment, and the staff there are always around to help with medicine, daily tasks, or any health concerns, so residents don't have to worry about being on their own. The place has recently been fixed up, with inviting indoor spaces and a bright dining room with big arched windows that look out on a garden, and there's the smell of good meals coming from the kitchen, which serves nutritious food in a cheerful setting, so people can eat together and save time and money on cooking. The community has a mix of studio, one-bedroom, semi-private, and two-room suites, with roomy choices for those wanting privacy, and the living quarters are comfortable and clean, while the showers are wheelchair accessible, making things easier for people who need more help.

Outdoors, folks can enjoy safely tended areas to chat, get some sunshine, or take part in activities, and for those needing some quiet, there's a dedicated reading room, while anyone wanting social time can join in the day's events or attend religious services during special holidays. The staff runs different programs for movement, recreation, and social fun, and a weekly beautician service is available right on site, so residents can get a haircut or have their hair set without leaving the building, while there are also devotional services offsite for those who want them. There's a dedicated memory care building for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, with trained staff and locked doors to keep wandering residents safe, and caregivers can assist with blood sugar monitoring, though they don't give insulin shots, so families should keep this in mind.

Residents can get help as their needs change; aging in place is supported here, and the care team can help with simple transfers if someone can't walk, and the community offers respite stays and hospice care as well. Onsite doctors are available if medical support is needed, and there's a 24-hour call system in case of emergencies, making sure people can always reach staff, who are attentive, approachable, and available if anyone needs to talk or just sit together for a while. The place is kept safe with sprinklers and emergency call systems in both bedrooms and bathrooms, and residents get cable TV, indoor and outdoor spaces for socializing, and group transportation is available for a fee, with the busline nearby for those who still like to get out and about on their own. Outdoor smoking is permitted in certain areas. Estimated monthly room prices range between $2,200 and $3,000, and there are fees for joining the community and for respite stays. The combination of thoughtful care, open-door policy, and the family's long-time hands-on attention makes Active Senior Living Residence a steady choice for people needing medium levels of care in a pleasant, homelike place.
