    Attentive, clean, home-like care recommended

I placed my mother here and am very pleased - a small, clean, recently remodeled, home-like setting with lovely lake/country views. The staff and leadership (Sophie and team) are attentive, loving, and responsive; they eased the transition, coordinate care/hospice, and truly go the extra mile. Nutritious home-cooked meals, engaging activities, strong safety and prompt family communication give us real peace of mind - I would recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

Lighthouse Personal Care Homes - Southern Haven is consistently described as a small, home-style personal care setting that emphasizes compassionate, individualized attention. Families repeatedly highlight a family-like culture: staff are characterized as kind, attentive, and willing to provide one-on-one support. The facility’s small size (about 13 beds) and consistent staffing ratios are noted as contributing factors to close staff–resident relationships, prompt family communication, and smooth transitions at move-in and end of life.

Clinical and care quality impressions are generally favorable. Reviewers describe coordinated care with hospice, home health, physicians, and pharmacies, and many cite attentive end-of-life support and accommodation for family presence. Staff are frequently credited with personalized feeding assistance, monitoring for health issues, and patience with progressive cognitive decline. That said, there are indications that the facility does not function as a full medical center: expect coordination with external clinicians rather than extensive on-site medical teams.

Dining and activities appear to be strengths. Multiple comments reference home-cooked meals, nutritious choices, special treats, and staff who assist with eating when needed. Social programming includes memory/cognitive games, visiting musical and church groups, scheduled outings, and informal porch and grounds-based activity. The rural location—with porches, picture windows, pond/lake views, and nearby farmland—supports a calm, scenic atmosphere that families find soothing and restorative for residents.

Facilities and management characteristics are mixed but largely positive. The home is described as clean, recently remodeled in places, and well maintained, with attractive common areas and large porches. Owners and leadership (named by several families) are often singled out for hands-on involvement and responsiveness. However, there are isolated critical comments about management qualifications and variability in dementia-care approaches; prospective families should clarify leadership roles and staff training relevant to memory care during tours.

Operational patterns to note for prospective residents and families: the small, intimate setting produces strong personal attention but also implies limited on-site clinical resources and fewer in-house amenities compared with larger assisted-living communities. The rural location provides calm surroundings but fewer nearby services and potentially longer travel times. Finally, the facility has enforced infection-control visitation limits in the past; families should ask about current visitation policies and contingency plans. Overall, the dominant themes are attentive, family-centered care, good food and activities, and a restful environment, balanced against trade-offs typical of a small, rural personal care home.

About Lighthouse Personal Care Homes - Southern Haven

Lighthouse Personal Care Homes - Southern Haven has cared for seniors in Rocky Face, Georgia, since 1999, and they've focused on assisted living and specialized memory care ever since, which means they've seen and handled a lot over the years and know how folks need support when dealing with memory loss or just getting through the day-to-day things that aren't so easy anymore. This home's run by Owner Jamie Robinson and keeps a family-like feel, staying small with only up to thirteen residents, so people don't get lost in a crowd and staff can give lots of personal attention-six residents for every caregiver. The facility looks and feels like a real home, sitting in a quiet neighborhood with a private lake, comfy gathering rooms, a big fireplace, and cozy backyard spaces where folks can relax or visit with family or friends. People get help with daily things like getting dressed, moving around, taking medicine, and keeping clean, and staff are around 24/7, including awake at night, so someone's always there if a resident needs something, and registered nurses keep an eye on things. Meals and snacks are homemade from fresh ingredients, planned by chef and clinician, and the kitchen gladly handles special diets or food preferences, which matters when eating's one of life's big pleasures. Residents can join in walks, arts and crafts, exercise, music and pet therapy, celebrations, gardening, faith-based services, or just sit outside if they'd rather keep to themselves for a while, and outings and field trips give everyone a taste of new things from time to time. Safety's a big concern, so secure entries, video monitoring, and Care Predict technology help keep everyone protected, and there are things like sprinkler systems and handicap access throughout the house. Every room's got cable TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, nice furniture, washers and dryers, and staff clean up regularly so spaces stay tidy and fresh. Folks can make use of indoor and outdoor spaces, a game room, a fitness area, a salon/barbershop, and even a kitchenette for making a snack or sharing with a guest, so it really feels like home more than a place to just stay. Transportation and parking are available, and the staff do their best not to add extra charges or raise rent on people after they've settled in. The business has strong reviews and community recognition, including awards for activities and care, and being part of programs like Second Wind Dreams shows they want to go beyond basic care to help residents stay engaged and happy. Family and faith are part of daily life here, and staff make it a point to understand each person, meet their needs, and keep dignity and respect at the center of everything they do; they work to be sure no one's forgotten or left behind while letting all the comforts and routines of home carry on, so life continues in a way that feels familiar and safe, and people can thrive as much as possible.
